View Full Version : Zap! Classic Gaming Forums is now up
As lots of you guys know, I was the editor of Zap! newsletter in the early 90's, a fanzine dedicated to the classics. Well, to make a long story short, it's now online. The main site is not ready, but the forums are all set up and running. Not everything is 100%, but in the coming days everything will come together more cleanly. Check them out, it's an all-gaming forum board, that leans HEAVILY classic. I'm not in competition with anyone, I'm just out there to have a little fun and hopefully gather people together so we can all learn a little and share our gaming experiences. Thanks a lot! So far it's been a great first day, more posts and users then I expected.
The kinks have been worked out, and now everyone is getting e-mail from the system. Added the video game smilies too. Thanks to those who checked it out, 300 posts in three days is more than I thought. ;)
I will be ordering 1,500 business cards in a couple of days to promote the board. What do you think of this design so far? Let me know if you have any suggestions.

IMO, it looks a little messy. There's too many carachters, and they're overshadowing the site's name, and your name as well.
I guess you could focus on cool fonts instead of game carachters, adding only one of them just to set the mood. Working with a watermarked background, or simply a colored one, could also make it more visually attractive.
Well, I hope I could help. Oh, and good luck with the site! I'm liking it a lot so far.
Is anyone here good at making logos? The one I'm using for my board really sucks, and is about 13 years old.
Willing to pay $10 or a free set of all 8 issues of Zap! fanzine for a good quality banner. Just send it to me with a watermark or something, if I like it I'll send you $10 via PayPal or mail the newsletters, and then you can send the original.

Sent your brother the issues of Zap! fanzine for free. :)
Changed the black default style to a much better one.
Added an arcade room with (currently) 70 games and new ones arriving daily. Registered users can play and download the games to their board. Click on the forums link in my sig and then click arcade, or just click here (http://www.zaponline.org/forums/arcade.php) and go directly to the arcade.

I made a banner for you. My girlfriend is on internship to another country for 5 months so i need to do stuff to get her off my mind (yeah i'm a wuss haha). Dunno if you like it but you can use it freely if you do.

I'm the easy one to spot...I have a Kirby pic as my avatar! :)
Board speed back to normal, and visual conformation downgraded, as too many new users were complaining they couldn't get past it. :)
Major update completed! Many bugs fixed, and many new features added. Over 400 games now in the arcade. :)
I finally updated the look of the main page here on http://www.zaponline.org/ after 13 years (no longer looks like a Geocities page!). I'm no expert at html, but it is what it is. Any suggestions?
