apparently alot of you think that the point of my post was just another bitch session about this or that
You know, it's one thing to support whatever console(s) you want. It's another entirely to feel you have to bludgeon everybody else with your choices at every possible opportunity.
For example, there's nothing wrong with asking "any plans for a Wii or a PC version?" if you stop there and say no more.
The bludgeoning/bitching happens when you feel you have to tell us *why* you want a Wii or a PC version, especially because it all has to do with why you hate the competition.
And don't complain about getting kicked off a forum you call fascist. If it's truly fascist why would you bother posting there in the first place?

I was all for a Wii port of the game, but my support pretty much ends there. The more you speak the less sense you make to me? Especially paying 1,000s on a PC stuff and acting like it's more frugal than buying a console? Even the most expensive PS3 would be cheaper and the game you want would become available.

I fail to see how spending $1000s of dollars on a PC costs less than spending $700 on a PS3 and 360 ($600, if you get the Arcade version). Maybe I'm missing something here. Buying all three consoles will still cost you less than $1000. And if you buy a $1000 PC, you're not going to have a true gaming PC.
This isn't to mention the fact that the PC has far less big games this generation.
Yes, his logic makes my head hurt, too.

Now, now. Porting (if you can even call it that) an original MK game (1-3) down to the GB, SMS/GG, and Game.com was/is far cheaper and requires far less of a team and resources than taking a game meant to play on a 360/PS3 and dumb it down to Wii specs.
Of course, virtually any Wii game takes more resources to develop than a Master System game. But have you actually seen MK vs. DC? It seriously does not look like anything that would be that difficult to port to Wii. We're not talking about MGS4 or Crysis or anything. I think it would "dumb down" to Wii relatively easily.
Who said the Wii sucks at fighting games??? I played Mortal Kombat: Armageddon on my neighbor's Wii and I thought it only sucked a little bit.
I think the Wii is only good for fighting games if you have a Hori stick (or maybe a Classic Controller). But I digress.
What was so bad about the first Mortal Kombat for Game Gear anyway and wasn't the Master System version basically the same thing?
A couple characters were missing and so were some of the stages but the game had pretty good graphics for an 8-bit version and had a blood code.
The graphics were fine, but it played poorly IMO. I don't think it works well with two buttons. The point wasn't to bash those versions of the game, it was just to note that the series has had its share of unlikely ports to inferior hardware in the past. That's very true outside of the MK series as well -- we could devote a whole topic to games that got downgraded ports to much inferior hardware, both successfully and unsuccessfully.
BTW, to the person who asked, their forum rules state that they can edit or remove anything for any reason, or for no reason at all... so it's a fascist board
Tell you what, I'd do whatever I want on my private website/forum as well. Does that make me a fascist?

I think you are 100% right here. I will add this, though.
Remember the "Easter Egg" in the Gameboy version where you could actually play through the game using Goro? Now that would have been a hell of a "trick" to include in the SNES or Genesis version back then and it was wasted on the Gameboy port.

I was the one that asked, and I actually took a look at their policies just for shits and giggles, and they do ask that you stick to talking about their games.
A rant about why the PS3/Xbox sucks doesn't exactly qualify as talking about their games.
If I take that stance and add to it the sheer number of posters here who point out that IronDragoon likes to puff out his chest and preach the evils of 360/PS3 while praising the PC/Wii, it's not exactly a huge leap of logic to assume he did that there too. And of course they rightly got sick of it and canned him
(<and there was much rejoicing!>)
Of course, like everybody else who has ever been banned, he decides to post somewhere else about how unfair that is, assuming we'd all rally to the cry of injustice and boycott Midway and their fascist boards.
(<and he was greeted by crickets and mocking insults>)

Every forum has limits as to what can be posted. So I guess that means every forum on the web is fascist.
At some forums, these rules are written. At others, they are unwritten and it simply comes down to common sense and decency.

This thread is silly though. either suck it up and buy a PS3/360 or be quiet. It's not like they have money to throw around like EA to have a version for every current console, pc, pda and cellphone model to exist at the time or release.

Yeah, I agree. What upsets me is the Sega Genesis Collection isn't coming out for Wii. The Wii certainly can handle those graphics.

Aren't Genesis games available for the Virtual Console? Maybe they don't want to release a physical collection because that would affect the sales for future Virtual Console releases.

Or make the people who paid upwards of 800 points ($8) feel like they really got fucked when they calculate the breakdown of cost per title on disc vs. Wii store ...
... like in the case of THIS collection, only that was 900 points per title ($9) on the Wii store OR about a buck and change (or less) per game on the disc:

I can see how Sega would want to stay away from that scenario.

Yeah, I really think that's the reason. The VC seems to be the kiss of doom. It's a great feature to have, but it hurts compilations on the Wii. They are severely lacking them.

now as far as budget comparisons go, I spent $2000 on a new PC in 2003... it played every game that I threw at it, with all settings maxed out flawlessly, until Dirt came out and demanded that I upgrade my 128MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card, as well as my 512MB RAM... the year was 2007, so it was time to upgrade for Vista and its promise of Direct X10 HD games that blow everything else available on any other system out of the water anyway... I spent another $2000 on hardware upgrades and the new OS, which I'm now running in addition to Windows XP on a separate hard drive... so I now have 2GB of Kingston Hyper X DDR high performance gaming RAM and 1TB of hard drive space split between the two drives, which are not running in a RAID array, and a 512MB ATI Radeon HD2600XT graphics card, which is a Visiontek AGP model... so as long as developers and publishers give me PC versions of the games, I'm enjoying HD games that blow your XBOX's, PS2's, XBOX360's & PS3's out of the water, and I think that SHOULD bother you... it certainly would me, if I was paying $400 - $600 apiece for those systems when they're first released, and then paying $20 - $60 and most more often $60+ for new games for them, just because of MS & Sony's licensing fees... no one can deny that's the main reason why MS & Sony console games usually cost $20 - $40 more than their PC superiors do... so don't blame me for your buying decisions... I'm only responsible for mine, and I prefer to pay less for games
and as for the cheap Blu-Ray player, I still haven't even had to buy a Blu-Ray drive to be able to play games that kick all the console's asses and serve them to them for lunch yet... my next upgrade purchase will be a new HDTV monitor to display whatever games will take advantage of it, especially when I finally am forced to buy a cheap Blu-Ray drive, IF that ever happens, and by then I'll prolly be able to get one for only $20... I'm still kicking butt and taking names on CD's & DVD's, no Blu-Rays are necessary, and neither is a Betamax
P.S.: in case you haven't noticed yet, Blu-Ray isn't winning the HD war since the death of HD DVD... it's dying too, and it's now considered an enthusiast's niche product... so I doubt the PS3 will be able to save it from obscurity, no matter how much you try to insist that you're in the majority owning a PS3

You're the one pulling GameFAQs-levels of fanboy bitchery, duder. You're all upset that you were banned from a forum held by a private company for making a nuisance of yourself. Get more help.
now as far as budget comparisons go, I spent $2000 on a new PC in 2003... it played every game that I threw at it, with all settings maxed out flawlessly, until Dirt came out and demanded that I upgrade my 128MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card, as well as my 512MB RAM... the year was 2007, so it was time to upgrade for Vista and its promise of Direct X10 HD games that blow everything else available on any other system out of the water anyway... I'm only responsible for mine, and I prefer to pay less for games
So your logic, if I'm following you properly, is that your four thousand dollar investment over the last five years makes the eight hundred dollars I spent on my PS3, 360, and Wii a dumb decision, because your graphics are better. That's not very good logic. I don't recommend the practice, but if you want to base your assumptions and prejudices on pure cost, then according to your own figures, I could spend twenty two hundred dollars on games and peripherals for my current generation consoles and just about match your monetary output, which I noted doesn't include actual games or time spent swapping components and building the PC. I guess I can probably afford paying twenty to thirty dollars more for my games if that's the kind of money you're spending on the platform itself.
Of course, that logic seems pretty much in line with how you've presented yourself in the rest of this thread. I'm all for PC gaming, and rock the Steam myself, but I've never taken the stance that someone else might be an idiot because their gaming habits and preferences aren't in line with my own. That's the worst kind of zealotry. The PS3 and 360 are fine machines, and the games for them are truly excellent. Yeah, they might look better on PC, but so what? Hows about you play your PC games and don't worry so much about what other folks are up to?
and as for the cheap Blu-Ray player, I still haven't even had to buy a Blu-Ray drive to be able to play games that kick all the console's asses and serve them to them for lunch yet... my next upgrade purchase will be a new HDTV monitor to display whatever games will take advantage of it, especially when I finally am forced to buy a cheap Blu-Ray drive, IF that ever happens, and by then I'll prolly be able to get one for only $20... I'm still kicking butt and taking names on CD's & DVD's, no Blu-Rays are necessary, and neither is a Betamax
Rootless slander and weird supposition. I'm not short sighted enough to think that Blu-Ray will ever have the kind of market penetration that DVD's have enjoyed, but I gotta say: Wall-E and 300 look incredible on my HDTV. What the Hell caused you to take this militant, hostile stance against a fucking media standard?
P.S.: in case you haven't noticed yet, Blu-Ray isn't winning the HD war since the death of HD DVD... it's dying too, and it's now considered an enthusiast's niche product... so I doubt the PS3 will be able to save it from obscurity, no matter how much you try to insist that you're in the majority owning a PS3
You're on crack, officially. You're just making stuff up. Take a look at your local Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Meijers, or whatever. Note the rapidly expanding Blu-Ray section. Think back a year or two, and appreciate the difference in stock space allocated to this 'enthusiast niche product' from then compared to now. Will it ever have the level of support that DVD has? Probably not. That does not imply failure. It's a matter of scale.
I'm no more in denial than Midway or the rest of you are, and just FYI (not that it's really any of your or anyone else's business, other than my own) I get far more professional help than most of the rest of you do or ever will get for yourself, so perhaps you should be scrutinizing your own reality, not mine

I'm glad that most of you find this thread as amusing as I do... it's hilarious
so let me get this straight... just because I chose not to buy an XBOX, PS2, Gamecube, XBOX360, or a PS3, I'm supposed to be an MS & Sony hater? I still own and enjoy my PS1, and I do all my PC gaming through MS Windows, so how exactly does that make me an MS & Sony hater? because I don't think it's necessary to buy 5 different systems to play all the same games that I can play on just one system, with it's own exclusive games to boot?
you can call me whatever you want, and you can have your shitty MK vs DC exclusive... because none of you will ever know the joys of games like GTR, GTR2, & GTR Evolution... the long rumored XBOX version of GTR never came to be, so the series remains a PC exclusive, and it eats console racing games for lunch... so twist in my dust with your Gran Turismo series and your Forza series... I have more than enough PC racers to put every game in those two series to shame in just those 3 games, and then I also get to leave you all behind in Race: WTCC '06 & '07, as well as GT Legends, and that's just one developer's series of exclusives so far... not to mention all the classics like GP Legends and NASCAR Legends, and modern classics like NASCAR Sim Racing
you can have every other racing game ever made, and you won't beat any of those games for realistic and arcade racing... so kiss my ass goodbye, losers! the PC is and will always be the ruler of racing games and other simulations, so why would I bother with most of the consoles anymore? when they all started having their own hard drives, they became nothing more than cheap PC's anyway, so don't get mad at me just because my console's specs piss all over yours... nobody forced you to buy the equivalent of an eMachine, did they? and I can still use my choice of Sony & MS style controllers to play too
so how again are PC controllers supposed to be shit compared to console controllers? nearly every PC gamepad is a Sony clone, and you can get real XBOX360 controllers now... so if my controls are shit, yours must be too, huh?
I guess you have to find a reason to hate PC gaming to justify sticking with the consoles these days... cause they're nothing but an underpowered PC!
P.S.: you bet your ass if they ever do make MK vs Street Fighter, it WILL get made for the PC... it IS getting Street Fighter 4, so what was all that bull I heard about the PC not being a platform for fighting games? I don't think Capcom heard you, so maybe you should say it a little bit louder next time
meanwhile, Midway can still burn in flames... SF4 will put MK vs DC to shame!

P.S.: you bet your ass if they ever do make MK vs Street Fighter, it WILL get made for the PC... we ARE getting Street Fighter 4, so what was all that bull I heard about the PC not being a platform for fighting games? I don't think Capcom heard you, so maybe you should say it a little bit louder next time
meanwhile, Midway can still burn in flames... SF4 will put MK vs DC to shame!
Your bitter tears taste so good. Enjoy playing SF IV four months after the PS3 and 360 owners have played it to death.

Awesome for you. I don't really like racing games and have never been a spec whore. I just find it funny that you started the thread complaining about not getting a certain game and now you act like you never wanted it in the first place?

Now I'll never get to play this game, just because you can't be bothered to support the PC or the Wii in addition to the XBOX360 and the PS3.
Six days later...
you can call me whatever you want, and you can have your shitty MK vs DC exclusive...
Amazing how opinions can change when you can't get what you want.
... so kiss my ass goodbye, losers!
I won't kiss it...can I cheer it goodbye heartily?

By reading a comment like that, I assume that one of the following is true:
a) you tried to make a joke, but unfortunately have no sense of humor
b) you absolutely hate good games
c) you enjoy making a fool of yourself by talking about things you know nothing about.
So to conclude: in all cases you failed miserably.
I dont really see what your problem is. The two other responders to my comment, who between them have over 6500 more posts on this board than you, got the joke and responded in kind.
You sir are little more than a troll.

Because post count is a meaningful measurement for how much someone's opinion matters.
I'm only seeing one troll here. HINT: It's not Lord Magus, it's not you, and we've been feeding him for six pages.

Nope. Satan conducts himself in a much more professional manner when enquiring about why certain games don't get ported to his favorite system. So the person we speak up is much lower than Satan.

For some time I've been wanting to write something about the director behind "The Suffering" and its sequel, a guy who wrote a book about how to design games when he had some 3D Pac-Man thing under his belt for Hasbro or some...stuff.
Anyway, Midway makes too many crap games and then has the Air Force pay for ad support so I can play them for free. Life isn't fair.

I'm glad that most of you find this thread as amusing as I do... it's hilarious
[ranting, incoherent lashing out, whining, etc. etc. etc.]
meanwhile, Midway can still burn in flames... SF4 will put MK vs DC to shame!
You are like Sisyphus, and this thread is your boulder. Just give up, duder. Popular opinion is against you, here. Hell, even unpopular opinion is against you here. You are one against... well, pretty much everyone else.
A reasonable person would, by now, have thought to his or herself, "Self, since the universe at large has responded poorly to the position I've asserted on DP, maybe I should either just let it rest to preserve what little reputation remains to me there, or even re-evaluate my position in light of popular opinion".
So... Who likes cranberry sauce?

How did you jump from wanting a fighting game to boasting about your racing games? What the heck is wrong with you?
Also, I don't think I like cranberry sauce. I'm not sure I've had it, but everything else I've had with cranberries in it has been bitter. Bitter like Iron Draggon.

There's always cranberry jello (pass, I'll take the strawberry please), but I don't remember any sauce. What do you put it on, turkey?

I like all kinds of cranberry sauce - the canned stuff is just passable, but the best kind is made out of shredded cranberries and oranges (including the rinds), plus a good helping of sugar. MMM. Serve with a slab of roast dragon tail.

I never used to care for cranberry sauce. My wife has started making her own from scratch and my God it's just fantastic. I think she uses a Martha Stewart recipe or something.

I don't put it on anything, I just eat it as a side. But yeah I think it's popular to put it on your turkey.

It's not actually a sauce. It comes in a can and you cut it into round circles. Most people mix it with their turkey, but I eat it by itself.

So... Who likes cranberry sauce?
I used to like cranberry sauce until I spilled it on the PC I invested $2000 into.
Shit, for that money I could buy an old race car, take it up to a dirt track in the woods, race against some moonshiners who you might recognize from the movie Wrong Turn and that'd be a lot more realistic than anything I can play on my PC.
Plus a race car has better specs than a PC, too.

I don't think they'd want to race you as much as serve you as the main course in some cranberry stew. Also, count me into the column who doesn't like cranberry anything. Strawberry? Yes. Halle Berry? Hell yes. But cranberry? Ugh.

Have you tried a strawberry/cranberry sauce combo? That's pretty good too.
Probably not as good as a Halle Berry/Strawberry combo, but it'll get you there.

Did the PC version get canceled?
Capcom officially announced a PC version alongside the PS3 and XB360 versions, but never gave a release date.
The last thing I hard about the PC release was the typical vague 'sometime after console release' thing.

so let me get this straight... just because I chose not to buy an XBOX, PS2, Gamecube, XBOX360, or a PS3, I'm supposed to be an MS & Sony hater? I still own and enjoy my PS1, and I do all my PC gaming through MS Windows, so how exactly does that make me an MS & Sony hater? because I don't think it's necessary to buy 5 different systems to play all the same games that I can play on just one system, with it's own exclusive games to boot?
Firstly, last I checked YOU were the one who went to Midway, griped on their forum about them being blowhards for not supporting the PC market for a genre that rarely gets PC support here in the states and proceeded to call them dumbasses for supporting a big chunk of their potential market by focusing on the systems a probable amount of their fanbase own.
Secondly, the whole reason there isn't just 'A' console is because of those things called.... you guessed it! Exclusives (and capitalism, but thats a lesson for another day). Last I checked every system has its own exclusives which attempt to sway the market into buying that system over another one. Pretty much every Wii title I own (40) is an exclusive and every PS3 title I own (9) is exclusive to that system as well. Not to say that I don't have a fair number of exclusive 360 titles, but me going into that conversation randomly would be akin to talking about cranberry sauce and racing games in a thread about fighters. But at least I show the man by continuing to play my modern gen games on a tv made in 1992 using the good ol composite cables.

I thought this thread was about cranberry sauce.
For what it's worth, Midway has never been big on PC ports. I don't think any of the games they put on Dreamcast had PC versions. There were PC versions of the MK games up to MK4, but that's about it.

To be honest I have no idea. i haven't paid attention partly because i really dont care about the game at all. I just assumed because I don't see why a company in their right mind would release a fighter for pc unless they are independent and are in need of a cheap format to release on (no licensing, no dev kits to buy, no need for esrb ratings)
