Hey everybody, I seem to have been tapped to head up a rebirth of the Monday MAME club, as people do enjoy it (I know I do). I'm not going to reinvent the wheel with the club, but from time to time...I may put my own special spin on things to jazz things up.

For those of you not familiar with the club...here's the rules.

Club Rules

01. You do not need to sign up for the club. If you want to participate, simply download the game of the week and post about it!

02. At the end of the week, I will randomly select someone who participated this week to select next week's game.

03. The current MAME Club Pick of the Week can be found every Monday stickied at the top of the Arcade Alley.

And now, a few things I'd like to throw in...(a little long-winded, I promise this will not be in every week's post)

a. Since it's a relaunch, I'm going to throw the doors open to any and all games. Even if they were in the last set of games, although I would strongly urge folks to avoid said games if at all possible.

That list of games is: Avenging Spirit, Violent Storm, Gaiapolis, Ninja Baseball Batman, Rastan, Choplifter.

Again, if it's your favorite game, and you've never been in the club before, nominate it when it is time...but there are thousands of MAME games, try something new!

b. I like strange games, ones I couldn't find in my local arcade. So I encourage folks to dig deep, and look for the hidden gems in the MAME catalog. But if you need to play Time Pilot, then dang it...we'll play Time Pilot!

c. Along the same line, playing the same style of game over and over gets boring, so when choosing games, if we just played a Beat Em Up and a vertical shooter in the past couple weeks...don't pick another one...please!

d. When choosing games, remember that some games had very funky controls. Make sure the game you choose can be played to a decent extent with just a keyboard.

e. The last thing (for now) I don't have the nifty hosting options for the MAME Roms like we had before. But I'm sure we can sort something out for that.

I think that's it for now. If there are any questions, ask them here...I'll post the first game sometime Monday (probably before noon, I'll be in North Carolina at the time...hoping to be able to get online...if not, well, we may have to wait a bit longer ;) ). Hope everyone has a lot of fun! MAME ON!

As always I support this, and will probably end up neglecting getting around to playing anyway. 8/

I'll try to do better this time.

I love doing this... The last revival I simply didn't have MAME set-up. I have that remedied now so, bring it! :D

Same here.

Will really try my best to be more supportive of this - because I LOVE the idea of playing games together and discussing them.

Bring it on!

I was involved in the past in a passive sort of way. I'll try to be more active in the future if it will help keep the club going. I love discovering and discussing new games and I really like the idea of mixing up genres this time around. You can count me in.

Hey Scoot, I can still host the ROMs if you need. Just e-mail me the night before and I can drop it into a web directory, no problem.

I'm always game...GAME ON!

(People need more Taito / Toaplan in their diet.)

Ah awesome Flack, I appreciate the help. By the way...for anyone with the powah...I don't know if this thread needs to be stickied now that we are rolling.
