Holy shit that's awesome. I'll have to check to see if they're still quality machines, but I think I know where I'm getting my next laptop from.

Did they ever manage to sell any of their totally overprized PC towers?

Commodore just isnt special anymore. They are just netbooks.

Let me guess:

Cheap, generic Chinese notebooks with Commodore name and logo stamped on for 25-cents. Forgive me if I fail to get excited.

Also, forgive me if I buy another disposable Toshiba or HP, since they've both proven reliable and were always bought when the feature/price ratio was extremely favorable.

How I do enjoy the Commodore 64 now, though!!!

I'm surprised some unscrupulous reseller hasn't tried tacking the Atari name on a cheap, substandard Chinese game PC; I'll bet they'd get a deal on licensing the name, if "Atari" hasn't been sufficiently poisoned yet.

problem is its hard to be special any more unless your very small and expensive or really massive. This new setup seems pretty blah compared to stuff like falcon northwest's mach v alienware's notebooks or voodoo/hp's blackbirds firebirds and envys.

I believe they're best bet and where they seem to be doing well (currently or a while back they weren't even selling here) is in europe

I think that was the last owner of the Commodore namebrand. I think this is an 'all new' owner that's going to sell laptops :P

This is about the third time a company has bought or licensed the Commodore name and slapped it on some mediocre modern PC product. It has literally nothing to do with Commodore other than licensing the name.

Exactly! A Commodore laptop that runs windows is just another laptop. I think it would be nice to have a third competitor to Apple and PC. More competition will = more innovation.

Commodore != Amiga Inc. So really they couldn't.

Still, it'd be a hell of an option! :D

I will not be getting a Commodore Laptop.

I don't like laptop computers because I have to use my fingers or my hand as a mouse. I don't like to use my fingers or my hand as a mouse because I had major problems doing them due to my hand and eye coordination.

So...why not get one of these and put o/s4 on it?

OS4 requires a PPC based chip (which these are obviously not using). Also, the OS is locked into the hardware made for OS4 so unless it's licensed, it doesn't work (though there are ways around it I'm sure).

If the price is right, I'd probably consider picking one up.

I know there's a way around it where you can run OS4 on one model of the Mac Mini, but I don't remember which one.

If only these had OS4 I'd be preordering right now...

Maybe if it's reasonably and competitively priced, an HP Mini 1000 can have 260GB of HDD space and 2 GB of RAM, and it's $280.

When do they go on sale?

ITS JUST FRIGGIN NETBOOKS FOR GOD SAKES.

Its shamefull to see a company try and sell generic netbooks off of the nostalgia of people who used and miss the Commodore brand. Its not like buying a Netbook with the Commodore logo on it will make the 1980s come back or anything. Its Windows. Nothing more.

I think most people would like to stay away from command line interfaces. Just installing an internet wireless card with Ubuntu is a pain in the butt.

I haven't had to use a command line interface on a linux install for at least five years.
I can't say the same about the macs I've owned.

Nah, Tandy should bring back the 1000 series. Now they were computers.

I can see it now, the Tandy 10,000.

Plus it's a pain to work the keyboard and mouse with only your left hand. I guess that's a problem on a PC too.
