That problem has no definite solution, because it's not a problem. It's a formula. "d" usually means distance, and x is a variable, so the first part of it relies on the variable x and whatever constant d you're using. If I remember correctly, e^x is something constant, but I can't remember offhand how to use it.

Friday and Saturday Finds:

http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/9105/50years.jpg

Stopped at a Goodwill on Friday, and picked up a PS2 Barbie Horse Adventures, a Death Note 2 DVD (sealed), and a Blu-Ray Talladega Nights - $3.99 each. Also got a Dreamcast Sega Rally 2 for $1.99.

Then stopped at a used game store and found 2 complete NES games – X-Men for $1.99 and Godzilla for $3.99.

Finally on Friday, got Xbox 360 Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe in the mail from Gamefly for $19.99.

This morning, hit another Goodwill and got an NES Control Deck boxed and still in baggies for $6.99.

And on my way home hit a rummage sale and saw a box marked PC and Playstation games 50 cents each! I went over and about shit! Right off the bat, I saw titles like Einhander, Elemental Gearbolt, Parasite Eve, RayStorm and other high-ticket games…but something looked funny. There was no NTSC logo on the spines, and they all turned out to be bootlegs from Asia. There was even a PSX boot disc in a DVD case. The lady said her boyfriend had picked them up overseas, and she probably shouldn’t even sell them. Fortunately, I kept on digging through the box, and at the bottom were 4 genuine titles, Including Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII. All complete and mint, for the princely sum of 50 cents each! That’s the 3rd FF VII I’ve picked up this summer for under 2 bucks!

And that same rummage had a bunch of coffee table books for a buck each, including a like-new 50 year Playboy retrospective…I got it for the articles. ;)

he may refer to a derivative equation, the solution should be : x[e^(x-1)]. But for derivative you use dy/dx not d/dx .... so i got a little confused about that, if you need to simplify that equation or reach a limit, is quite easy.

Asteroids
Star Raiders
Pac-man
Donkey Kong
Basic Computer Language
Centipede

It wasn't any where in the Rarity Guide and was wondering how much it is worth also has the atari 410 with it.

I just started high school, When I went their (starting 7th grade) I was at a 4th grade math level, last year I won an award for math. However I have no Idea how to solve that problem

I was just joking around with you. It's a little Calculus joke. I did advanced math through my high school years (not trying to brag, cause I just graduated) and the last math class I did was calculus. And it was incredibly confusing and hard in my opinion.

d/dx (e^x) means the derivative of e to the x power. The derivative of e to the x power is always e to the x power. ( d/dx (e^x) = e^x)

Impress your friends, teachers, and etc. with your newfound knowledge!

he may refer to a derivative equation, the solution should be : x(e). But for derivative you use dy/dx not d/dx .... so i got a little confused about that, if you need to simplify that equation or reach a limit, is quite easy.

He is right.... I couldn't completely remember how to type out "derivative of e to the x" so I looked at this site:
http://math2.org/math/derivatives/more/e%5Ex.htm

(It's been about 6 months since I last did some calculus stuff and it doesn't exactly stick in the memory very well.)

Not a game, but I did pick up the Final Fantasy Master Creatures figure of Bahamut from Five Below for $5. I had never seen these figures before, but it looked cool so I grabbed one. They had some of the others in the set so if anyone is interested, check out your local Five Below.

Went to Goodwill and a smaller thrift shop today, didn't find much...

A Windows 95/DOS game disk, called "Battles on Distant Planets". Never heard of it, and a search turns up nothing. It was marked $0.50, and I got it for half off.

Went to a smaller thrift, and found a box full of empty 3.5' diskettes. Around 31 of them for $3, plus an LS-120 diskette, which I've never seen before. The normal ones are being used for copying Apple II programs. :D

Microsoft Works Suite 2002 (used)
$5 total

Drip Pop (PS1) - $3

And on Thursday I picked up a complete copy of DOS 6.22 Upgrade, Adobe InDesign CS Upgrade (with an InDesign 2 set), and a bunch of CDs for $3.25 total. I didn't need the DOS package, but I needed the manual for reference.

Plushie Phoenix rests on his throne of Sega.

Most of them are complete and in very good (possibly even excellent) condition.
Most have very slight damage to the inserts from small pieces of 15-year-old Scotch tape.
A few are missing the manuals.

Montezuma's Revenge
Kenseiden
Lord of the Sword
Action Fighter
Astro Warrior
Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap
Cloud Master
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (complete)
Alien Syndrome
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World (complete, blue label - just found out this is the US version)
Time Soldiers
Black Belt
Psycho Fox
Fantasy Zone
Phantasy Star (no manual)
The Ninja
Golvellius
Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars

A pretty good deal from the Evansville Book & Music Exchange, which has been running a special on Sega games for as long as I can remember.

So I went back to gamestop tonite and the small box was on the counter again so I asked the guy if he could go in the back and get the big box and he was like "our DM called and said we had to ship x amount of games to various stores because they had none" so I was like um ok.... (very strange considering i was going through the box last nite) So I decided to go through the smaller box on the counter and pull what I could. This is what I was able to get and now there's pretty much nothing good left...

Welp, sales were awful AGAIN today (Saturday).

All I got was a loose Game Gear version of Space Harrier for $0.50 that I found in a box of CDs. It makes me wonder sometimes how certain things get into odd places. My dad found two vintage Barbie dolls in a box of candles a few years ago (He sold one on eBay for $150!). Ya know, those kind of weird happenings.

Odd thing is that I found the Japanese version of the same game a few weeks ago.

What's next, the NES version of Space Harrier?

I'm going to the flea market tomorrow so I hope for some better stuff.

And I'm not going to melt my brain with Xn+Yn=Zn right now. I'm not sure where to even start on that problem. (Sad to say that it's been too long since I've done some Calculus.)

Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
Baldur's Gate 2
Diablo 2 Expansion (Diablo 2 was also in box)
Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2
Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2: Mysteries of the Sith expansion
Fallout
Thief: The Dark Project

That cost me $8. I also picked up 2 super nintendo systems and a super scope for $3.50.

Picked up two more arcades on Friday. I had put out an ad on craigslist asking for old machines if anyone wanted to get rid of them, and got a response from someone on these two.

For $100 I got these two:
- Krazy Bowl
- Ms Pac Man

Condition on both is pretty nice, just have to clean them up a bit. This brings my total arcades number up to four.

Purchased at Goodwill yesterday:

PlayStation:
Red Asphalt (complete) - $2.99

Dreamcast:
KISS Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child (complete) - $2.50

Psycho Circus might lead to a blog post about how amusingly awful it is (and I might even write something about its equally crappy cousin, KISS Pinball on the PS1). We'll see.

I thought Red Asphalt - the sequel to Rock N' Roll Racing - would be one of those PS1 games that I rarely ever see in the wild that still somehow ends up being only an R2 or R3. Nope, it's an R5 (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=26770). Cool!

Didn't get to many garage sales this week, because of a rather big purchase I made a few days ago...

- Xbox 360 Pro (Refurbished w\ one wireless controller, 20GB hard drive, headset, and a 14-foot Ethernet cable): $200

- HP Media Center PC remote (Loose): $.25

I finally was able to buy a 360, though I sold my Wii in the process (It was collecting dust anyway). Also, that Media Center remote works with my 360, so now I have a DVD remote for it (It may not actually say Xbox 360 on it, but for the price and considering it does work, I'm not complaining).

Think of Psycho Circus as Serious Sam before its time.

...running on the LithTech engine...

...with some (as I recall) rather under-utilized Metroid-style elements...

...and with a few real clunkers of levels. But when it's good, it gets very good. Shame it's not like that the whole way through.

I think the sale I got it from is over, but Gamefly probably still has it for just a few dollars more. It seems to be pretty resistant to normal price drops everywhere else, which is why I picked it up. I'm enjoying the story mode quite a bit, and the moves aren't too initimidating to learn (they have a pop-up menu for each character's moves). Graphics look good, but whoever did Wonder Woman made her pretty ugly!

I picked up some games this weekend at a local game store.

NES:
Mystery Quest
Dungeon Magic - Sword of the Elements
Mechanized Attack

$5 for the 3 games. Mystery Quest is pretty rough as it takes a bit of screwing around to figure out how to progress, like shooting random walls that can be destroyed while most can't. Then Dungeon Magic is feeling like a real grind fest to level up and collect gold to get rest and upgrade items. Haven't hooked up the light gun yet to check out Mechanized Attack, but it looks sweet.

I also managed to find Viewpoint for the Playstation today for $9 in its wonderful longbox form. I was playing it earlier and boy is it impressive. The passwords are a bit lame being predictable, but at least I'll be able to just jump anywhere in the game. Awesome find for me in awhile.

As a side note I tested my C64 computer and it works great hooked up to my 32" Sony Wega Trinitron TV. A buddy of mine has a stash of hardware I may be able to buy, borrow, or trade for to play a few games and mess with the system. Interesting times. If anyone has some C64 games for sale please let me know. I'll be running a gaming event at the central library next January and we're looking for some Commodore, Amiga, and Atari 800 games.

Found Phoenix (2600) cart-only at a thrift on Thursday for $0.95 or so, and Friday I got PSO Episode III for $8 at Play N Trade complete.

Friday night I came home to find that my first lot of LaserDiscs had arrived. With my first week of classes this semester, I didn't get a chance to watch anything until this afternoon. It looks darn good on my LCD over composite (my player doesn't have S-Video), and audio sounds great. Letterbox LDs look fine in zoomed mode, something that nothing else has done. I watched all of Dick Tracy (1990) and I can definitely say that I love LD now. I understand what people mean when they say it's more "film-like." My only complaint is that the audio seemed a bit wonky, so I switched between analog and digital tracks a lot. The analog track seemed to go up and down in volume at times, while the digital track had some distortion noise and occasional disappointments in dynamic range. Is this a problem with my player, or does the disc need to be flawless. I watched a few minutes of Star Wars and Jurassic Park without noticing it, but I need to use it a bit more to really know. Dick Tracy is the only CAV LD I have so far, the others are CLV, if that has anything to do with it.

I mentioned I was going to the flea market......

Well I found almost no gaming stuff. Just a NES copy of Monopoly for a buck. I've had the box and inserts and stuff for this game on my shelf with a SMB/DH in the box lol.

My dad was selling off some NES games that he didn't want to bother with selling on eBay. I noticed he had a copy of Megaman 2 and I took that for my collection (Now I need 1 and 6).

I am happy though. This guy that sells guitar stuff at the flea market said he had some ukuleles he could sell me: a 1920s Regal ukelele and a Silvertone baritone ukulele for $40 and $50 respectively. Those are pretty good prices cause an old Regal uke's worth sort of in the $60-80 range depending on the model and a Silvertone bari is worth around a $100.

And yes, that means I will definitely be going to the flea market next Sunday.

I played through that a few months ago. At one point, I got stuck and wound up seeing if GameFAQs could help me out. The only walkthrough on the site (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/file/587477/10402) was written by fellow DP member DDCecil. If it wasn't for him, I probably would have just gave up.

Regarding GameStop and GB/GBC stuff, three of the local stores still have very small selections remaining. 99% of it is licensed GBC crap like Mary Kate & Ashley's Slumber Party Mystery Mania or whatever.

Ah, thanks for the link. It was an odd looking game that stood out in a stack of NES titles. It can use some improvements, but quite playable. It's tempting to use the walk-through to help cut back on time killing trying to figure out what to do next.

NES:
Baseball Simulator 1.000 (complete) - 25 cents

SNES:
The Ignition Factor (cart only) - $1
Super Godzilla (cart only, Majesco version) - $2.50
Mega Man Soccer (cart only) - $10

PlayStation:
Duke Nukem: Time To Kill (complete, GH) - $2.50
Jimmy White's 2: Cueball (complete) - $1

Baseball Simulator 1.000 was a former Hollywood video rental. The box is beat up and the manual isn't in the best shape either. Still, can't complain for a quarter. Mega Man Soccer was a splurge (the store I got it from originally wanted $20 for it). Haven't seen it in the wild in 2 or 3 years and who knows when (or if) I'll come across a cheaper copy.

Excellent find. I assume this was on a CL listing?

Oy, I just noticed your location, another person on here from the Cincinnati area. Hello! \\^_^/

/me nods

Yep. A Craigslist find. And hello other Cincinnati person! I do sometimes wonder how many there are of us. Carey85 and myself are the only ones I know of.
