Try the Neo Boards.

Lots of smart people there that dont post here...

I've heard, and I've signed up. But I apparently don't have access to posting a new thread in Tech Support yet. So for now, I'm stuck with you guys :P

Try over at KLOV (http://forums.arcade-museum.com/) too. Although they cater to older cabs, there's still a lot of people over there that have some NEO GEO machines. Also, you can post in the tech forums right after you sign up. I read through most of the tech threads over there, even if they don't pertain to my machine. Anyway good luck.

I've surfed that site a bit for more info about my machine. Maybe I'll sign up if I don't wind up solving my problems first.

You're the fellow with the DK cab in nice shape, right? (That one is literally the ONLY other thing that I would consider dragging up the stairs). Good for you!

UPDATE: finished re-painting the control panel, waiting for it to dry. Also have started the filling on that burned-off corner -- just gotta finish the sanding and have paint matched for it.

And dragging it up the stairs by myself is literally what I did. Mine still has a video issue or two, that I have yet to solve, so I understand the frustration.

I wouldn't call it "frustration" just yet. I knew it would need a little work before it was perfect.

Just inconvenient that something went wrong in the move. I prefer forward progress, not a step backward :(

It would seem that I've squeezed out all of the information I require, at least for now. However, if I run into other issues, I will shoot you a message and ask you to do so.

On monday, I had enough money to either get a power supply or a multimeter. Since the multimeter would either tell me yes/no on the power supply, but not replace it, and a power supply purchase would result in a worst-case-scenario as a spare PSU.

I went with my educated guess about the PSU having been squished; it arrived today, and upon hooking it in and firing it up, I now have a NeoGeo in the same condition I bought it in (i.e., working).

Sweet.

Now I have to find out what model monitor I have, order a cap kit and a UniBios.

How do I find the monitor model?

It should be a Wells Gardner K7000, as I stated earlier I think SNK bought those for the MVS cabinets. I also remember the MVS not giving you any way to service the monitor through the back, so you'll have to remove the glass on the front, unfasten the monitor and gently pull it out, minding the cables that are connected to the board. On the circuit board itself, you'll probably see "WGK7***" printed near the bottom.

Can't find anything thus far that says Wells-Gardner. It's an RCA tube, and near the monitor's circuit board it says "CGM2500." Dunno if that helps.

I received my degaussing coil, which remedied all of the discoloration issues. I also sent off the money order to Bob Roberts for the cap kit, so hopefully that will remedy the stretching.

It's much more playable now, and as long as the game doesn't scroll vertically (i.e., Metal Slug Mission 3), you hardly notice the stretch.

Very excited now. ^^

Also, figured out where that weird metal box goes. After hammering it back into some semblance of the shape it once was, I put it back so that the coin drawer can fit in it when I get one. Didn't realize that it screwed into the front of the cab with the hole facing out so that coins could drop in. Damn glad to know what that thing is/where it goes.

Off-topic: Looking now at info about perhaps using other JAMMA boards in it. Seems I need a converter. Any other info I should know for if/when I decide to do this? The specific board I'm considering using (non-permanently, of course) would be a TMNT Konami. I have read of issues regarding the MVS's weird sound setup, so if anyone could tell me more about that, I'd be greatly obliged. Also, since I can't find one, how rare is/what is the cost of the two-player TMNT board (so that I can be any turtle, not just Leo or Mike)?

Finally got started painting on fresh coats of red, so that looks good.

Also got the cap kit and (if I didn't mention it already) the degaussing coil. After degaussing and replacing all the capacitors (Without shocking myself, I might add), this thing works like brand new.

I'll post final pics once I get the physical restoration finished. The functional restoration, though, is complete.

thanks again, folks.
