It's not exactly a secret to anyone that the ColecoVision ranks as my all-time favorite system. I also have a 2600, 5200, 7800, and an NES.
But what is likely to be my second-favorite may well be...an Intellivison.
Well, recently, yet another junk store opened up. They had an old slightly-battered Intellivision unit. No games, just the unit.
So, I just traded some old NES games I was going to get rid of anyway.
Now, if I can find a Vectrex out there...

Get Sewer Sam, Burgertime, Demon Attack, and Shark Shark. All great games.

If you can find a live person to compete against, Sea Battle is very good too.
And I've always heard and read that Utopia is great, but haven't played it myself.

Intellivision was my first videogame system back in the day and it holds a special place in my heart. Some of my favorites include Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Space Battle, B-17 Bomber, and Utopia. If you can find a second player, most of the sports games are great and some other 2-player only games such as Sea Battle are a lot of fun.
Edit - Noahsmybro and I were clearly on the same wavelength :)

I'd recommend Burgertime, Utopia, Major League Baseball, Star Strike and Donkey Kong.

You must get Diner, its one of the best games on the system! I also recomend Astrosmash, Frog Bog, Shark-Shark!, and Burgertime. Theres alot of good games on the INTV that flew under the radar back in the day, its a fun system to own...I just wish the controllers didn't suck so much!

I've always really dug the Intellivision version of Dragonfire myself, but I may be in the minority.

If you have a friend that will play it with you, the Biplanes game in Triple Action is some of the best classic multiplayer action to be had.

I could go on for days and days about the Intellivision. It was my childhood. It was the only video game system my mother ever bought me when i was a kid. I put many of hours into Burger Time. Me and a friend would stay up all night having Basketball Tournaments. I had about 32-35 games for it. I wish i had never got rid of it and all those games. After the controllers broke, and Toys R Us stopped selling Intellivision stuff, i thought i was out of luck. This was still a long time before the internet and Ebay. If i only knew.

Want. At this point, I don't have any games for it. Not one. So, I'm not 100% sure it works.

Get Loco-Motion. I love this game, and you can't get it on any classic console other than the Intelivision. There is another game sorta like it called Happy Trails, but trust me Loco-Motion is great.

Another unique cartridge to the system is Microsurgeon! I love that game!

I'm in the same boat as the OP, and didn't really think a new thread was needed. I never even played an INTV growing up, so I've always been a little curious as to how it actually was.
I found a boxed system a couple weeks back at a local flea market for $15, but no games.
Fast forward to today, I finally take a trip to the local comic/classic game shop and pick up 7 INTV games and a few overlays for a total of $20.
Without really doing any research on games being any good before I went, I picked up:
AD&D, Night Stalker, Burgertime, and Horse Racing with overlays, and Microsurgeon, Masters of the Universe, and NHL Hockey with no overlays.
My thoughts so far? The system is definitely quirky/cool. I don't particularly care for the controllers, but found myself compelled to play AD&D until I beat it (half an hour, 20 minutes maybe?), and Burgertime held my interest for a while too. Microsurgeon's visuals were also really cool, but I had no idea what I was actually supposed to be doing!
I'll be making a trip back in the near future to probably pick up Snafu and a few others you folks recommended!

That one's pretty difficult without an instruction manual and overlays. It also came out on the TI Home Computer, which is the version I first had. Even with the manual, I never managed to work out exactly what I was supposed to do, other than repair some tissue damage and stuff like that. Still, you have to appreciate it just for its originality. And the fact that it could never be done on the Atari 2600.
When you're looking for Intellivision games, look for the carts with white labels. That means they were late releases. Some will inevitably be reissues of older Mattel games, but you'll occasionally come across INTV produced stuff. It's those white label original releases that are the best for the system. Thunder Castle, Thin Ice, Tower of Doom, Hover Force, Diner, Stadium Mud Buggies, the list goes on. They really hit their stride when Mattel shut the Electronics division down, and the programmers did some great games in the late '80s.

Where's the love for Night Stalker, Bomb Squad and Tron Solar Sailer?
Oh, and Shark! Shark! is worthy of a purchase, simply to hear the Game Over music.

Keith Robinson made Tron Solar Sailor right? I always wanted to play that game. Whats it like?

Can't believe I forgot Night Stalker. Astrosmash is another that brought me hours of entertainment. Loved those changing colors.

Finally had achance to try it out, thanks to Pantechion.
It works o.k., needs a bit of the sort of work you'd expect, but the biggest problem is that controller #2 does not function. This is because the "circuit lines" in the controller are broken; they are not unlike those for the 5200. Repairing it will be a bit awkward.
But, isn't that half of what classic gaming is about?
