I've been searching out the Typing of the Dead for DC.

I've found some auctions that include the game and the keyboard, and the keyboard is in a standard black/blue retail box. I've found others that have the DC keyboard in a brown cardboard box.

Why the difference? Was there a bundle that included the game and the keyboard? Did the free Seganet keyboards come in brown boxes?

I remember finding the one in the brown cardboard box on closeout at Best Buy.

I do not believe the game was available in a bundle with a keyboard. Here are the boxes for the non sega-net keyboards:

I ordered my DC keyboard directly from Sega before they had them available retail, and it came in a plain cardboard box. It matches the keyboard on the right in the picture above. (In fact, I had no idea there were two different models! I thought it was just different packaging.)

Yeah I didn't know the keyboards themselves looked different, I thought that they were just different boxes.

Are the actual keyboards themselves any different?

I own the one on the right above. It looks to me like at least the space bars are different on those keyboards posted above.

The Enter key and Backspace key on the Black box'd pad are different as well.

The launch keyboard is more reminiscent of the older PS2 plugged keyboards. The new keyboard looks very similar to my current work USB keyboard.

Add me to the "plain brown box" packaging. My DC keyboard looks like the one on the right in the picture above.

Mine looks like the keyboard on the right, I bought mine retail and have the box on the right. Where did the seganet keyboards come from? They have the seganet logo rather than the DC logo. Free with a year of AT&T or seganet?

Don't kill yourselves trying to match up keyboard versions with box variations. While I'm sure there may be some correlation on average, I think random keyboards were just thrown inside random boxes once the system had been out for a little while.
