OK here we go!

You're already aware of video gaming's most prestigious event: Classic Gaming Expo. A place where you can mingle with the legends of yesteryear, find that out-of-print game you've always wanted, play classic arcade and console systems from your youth, stroll through an unbelievable museum of rare and unusual vintage gaming items, and generally relax in an atmosphere that is decidedly retro. There is only ONE Classic Gaming Expo.

The trouble is, it's far away. And times are tough. And there are other more pressing things to spend our hard-earned cash on. Well... how about if you could enjoy everything there is to enjoy at Classic Gaming Expo for just ten dollars?

That's right. $10.

We are now opening the gates to a very special contest where fifty "players" go in, and one comes out. That one goes to Las Vegas for Classic Gaming Expo with no additional out-of-pocket expenses:

- The entry fee of $10 x 50 entrants will cover the cost of air fare and the hotel for Friday and Saturday night (August 8th and 9th). Any additional money for plane and room fare is YOURS to spend.

- You will receive a free weekend pass to the show.

- You will receive $100 of "spending money" at the Expo. Buy that game of your dreams!

- Here's perhaps the best part. On Friday night before the show, CGE Services hosts an "alumni dinner", where the very gaming legends who will be on hand for keynote speeches throughout the weekend gather for a special gathering. YOU will be at that dinner. The meal is free but most importantly, you'll be rubbing elbows with this year's alumni. Trust me, this is worth way more than any dollar value.

That's right. $10.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO.
1. The first 50 entrants who are PAID IN FULL qualify. Only ONE entry per family, please.
2. You must be a forum member - new or old - to qualify. Payments from unidentified parties will be immediately returned (it might be a good idea to post here that you're IN once your payment is sent).
3. PayPal to digitalpress@email.com is accepted. You CAN send a money order but this could harm your chances should the entries fill up quickly. See item #1 above.
4. A list of members whos payment has been received will follow in the next post so you can keep track of who's in.
5. The contest ends at 11:59pm EDT on Sunday, June 29th. If the list fills before then, we'll move the drawing up to an earlier date (watch this thread).
6. The drawing will be webcam-displayed soon after the contest closes, with all names clearly shown and the drawing done publicly.
7. If you already have plane tickets or hotel fare, we will re-imburse your costs. Thus, if you're "already going to CGE", you are still qualified to play.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE HERE!

Game ON.

I'm guesing this is enough money for only one person to fly there? I'd probably go for it, but I'm not so sure about going alone. Could anyone estimate what it would cost for 2 people? (I've never flown before, hence why I have no idea) :embarrassed:

The contest is for only ONE winner, but if you decide to bring someone along with you, that's great - just keep in mind that your guest may not be covered by the $500 travel and hotel cost, nor will they be given a free pass or entry to the alumni dinner. You can share the beef jerky and potato chips with them though, I suppose :)

If you're uncertain about the costs of flying from your area, check any of the many airlines that offer service from your area to Las Vegas (LAS). You can also use Expedia.com or Orbitz.com to estimate fares.

Good luck!

Is this good for people outside the continent of North America too? ;)

Same rule as above applies: if the total flight+hotel is greater than $500, it's going to be up to you to cover it. While this surely won't cover all of your expenses, look at it this way: that's $500 more to spend, PLUS the alumni dinner and beef jerky :)

Good luck to you!

I can't imagine a video game fan sitting here, reading this, with $10 and NOT jumping on this deal pronto. If you're hedging on this, DO IT NOW!

If I may put this in perspective: Odds of winning are 50 to 1 or 2%. Now, this may seem like a longshot, but it ain't. It's a $500 value prize and only 50 entries. A similar prize at the school r5affle or church giveaway would have nearly 500 entries - Odds of winning being 500 to 1 or .20% (one-fifth percent!) And don't get me started on the odds of hitting a $500 winner in the state lotteries or scratch off tickets.

This is the best odds EVER of winning a prize of this value. And it's $10! plus, even if you don't win, you just helped send someone ELSE to CGE - and isn't that worth some good vibes? More than 40 people think so, for we all know that all of us can't win!

C'mon, throw down for an EXCELLENT chance of attending this year's event. May the Odds be With You.

Correctamundo - that's the best part of this contest. There are no losers - only one person who goes, and 49 others who helped that person go.

And if I may elaborate, the value of this prize is more than $500 - remember the $100 spending money, the dinner with the alumni, the weekend pass, and the beef jerky, chips, and joysticks! If I had to put an actual dollar value on it I'd say it's closer to $750 plus the memories that are worth so much more than cash.

If I happen to win this, I will still be donating my prize to someone on the DP board. (The chips and jerky and gaming stuff, but not the trip and dinner! :D )

50 entrants.

Are you going to have the winner get the hotel and plane tickets on their on and reimburse them or will you be getting the plane tickets and hotel?

I am asking because my wife is a travel agent and she might be able to get us inexpensive plane tickets and hotel if I should be lucky enough to win. I am hoping that maybe both of us could go for $500.
