Has anything been released the past month? Hope PSOne releases aren't slowing down almost as soon as they started to pick up pace.

One (as in the game title) was added on 3/18, and Perfect Weapon (ick) got added yesterday. Can't remember if there was anything released between Grandia and One.

I haven't had much spare time lately. I just now updated the list:

3/17/2010
95. Jigsaw Madness
96. One

3/24/2010
97. Perfect Weapon

but yes it seems they had released a lot during the holiday season and then slowed down some.

And we're at the 99th release. I hope we get something special for number 100 and not just another generic racing game.

Compare $5.99 for a PS1 game to the bullshit $5.00 Nintendo charges for a VC NES game.

I understand what you're saying, but you have to remember that the process required for making the games available for download are the same. If anything, it's bullshit that Sony are charging more for the same amount of labour.

Are there any visual differences between Psone disc games played on the PS3 versus Psone games downloaded through the PSN Store?

Do purchased games look better?

Yes, they look better in terms of resolution. Comparing the digital and hard copies of Thunder Force V or R-Type Delta highlight the differences quite well. The improvement to Thunder Force V is quite dramatic!

Looks like the last month all we got were XS sports. Airboat, Dodgeball and Moto

I nearly fell out of my chair when I read that Thunder Force V was on the PSN store, but I don't see it anywhere...

I'm guessing it's in Japan only, which is total BS.

I must have missed something - I have 4 DLC PSone games, and they look worse than the physical disc in the system.

I see no differences doing comparisons.

I don't see how there even could be. A disc versus a iso image runs in the same emulator either way.

Hmm. All I can think is make sure that "smoothing" is turned on in psone game options. Otherwise you must have a resolution problem or wire or something cause all the psone games on ps3 look and load better than the disc versions on my television and I own about 13 of them.

I was looking at getting a couple of PSone games and I had some questions. Do the save files transfer over if you put the game on the PSP. For example: I play Final Fantasy VII for about 5 hours on my PS3. Then I leave for vacation for a week and play for another 20 hours. When I get back can I transfer the data over back to my PS3 from my PSP and continue the game with my 20+ hours added?

Yes. When you copy the game from the PS3 to your PSP, the console will ask if you'd like to transfer your saves as well. It did so for me with Wild Arms.

Oh Awesome! That definitely makes it worthwhile.

Now a strange question is if you have a memory card adapter and a PS1 memory card, along with the PSN download of a game and the original disc, can you transfer the saves from the PS1 memory card made on the original disc to the PS3 for the PSN version and then to the PSP?

That idea sounds too awesome to be true. But it would be sweet then I could play FFVII in my room, then go downstairs play it on my PS3, and then take it with me whenever I go on my PSP.

Yes you can. I tried this with Suikoden. You can also do the reverse and send it back to the PS1 card.

I need a memory card adapter now! Are the generic ones ok or should I track down a Sony one?

A quick question since this is a thread about the PS One Classics: Can you play local multiplayer on the games that support it on the PS3? The reason why I am asking is due to the technical mumbo-jumbo that's listed in the description for all of the games. It says something along the lines of "this game is not compatible with original Playstation peripherals and functionality such as multiplayer may not work". I know you can't play multiplayer on the PSP, but on the PS3 I'm not sure. I've held back several PS1 Classic purchases because I'm unsure whether I'd be able to play their 2 player modes with my brother on the PS3.

I hope Sony steps up the releases though. We've been getting a ridiculous amount of crappy budget games (XS Sports games....seriously?) and games no one has even heard of. Where's the high profile releases, like Fear Effect, Tony Hawk, etc.?

Yes, you can play standard 2 player games locally via the Dual Shock 3/Sixaxis controllers as long as the only controller required by the game is a standard dual shock.

Other controllers such as arcade sticks, dance pads, etc. MAY work properly via a USB adapter, but it's very hit or miss.

I wouldn't count on anything out of the ordinary working via USB adapter.

Yay we finally got Final Fantasy IX and Bloody Roar 2. I'm sure the FF fans are pleased to have all three main entries for the PS1 plus Tactics. Especially if they're like me and got the discs scratched up. Hopefully they put Dragon Warrior VII up there.

Valkyrie Profile still needs to get added.

Could you make a-z list to go with your dated section? It would make it a tad easier to see whats on there now, since its over 100 now.

You can do it in your own thread. I don't have time to change the way I'm doing it. I did it this way because I wanted to know what order the games were released in.

Suikoden II first please.

I definitely agree on that one. I wish they would just do an RPG summer or something.

We need Suikoden II, Vandal-Hearts, Vandal-Hearts II, Beyond the Beyond, Legend of Legaia, Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire III, Breath of Fire IV, Valkyrie Profile, Vagrant Story, Star Ocean 2, RPG Maker, SaGa Frontier, SaGa Frontier 2, King's Field (J), King's Field, Kings's Field II, Shadow Tower, Shadow Madness, Guardian's Crusade, Alundra, Alundra 2, Torneko, Diablo, Darkstone, Dragon Valor, Dragon Warrior VII, and many, many many more and the ones on this list are ones that just I have tried out.

The first PS1 PSN game was deleted. XS Moto was replaced by Toy Story Racer. Not a bad trade, but this unfortunately means they do have the ability to delete unwanted games at any time. Hopefully it doesn't happen to any good games.

Negative. Jet Moto 3 was up for less than 24 hours awhile back, turned out they didn't hold the license for the music anymore. Anyone who downloaded it during that time got to keep it though.

How do you know XS Moto has replaced by Toy Story Racer? Like did it take its spot or something? Couldn't they just add 1 game and delete 1 game, and thus not replace each other?

Yessss!!! Alundra is on PSN now for only $6. What a good deal on a good game. Arc the Lad joins it and now we have 4 Japanese import games. Hopefully this continues.

The bad news is, those four Disney games were only limited time re-releases and they are now gone.

Arc the Lad 2 and Arc Arena come out on PSN next week. $5.99 for Arc the Lad 2 or $8.99 for both bundled.

If you've never played the game then I highly recommend it. This is easily one of my favorite games and has so much content. Arc Arena gives you more to do if you've already finished everything you can do on Arc the Lad 2.

Along with a slew of Disney PS1 Games,

R4 (Ridge Racer 4) snuck onto the PSN this week!

Still my favorite entry in the series, it's pretty much the format and play control style that all of the modern Ridge Racer games use now. Surely the most series-defining entry.

Great great stuff and I'm glad to see it on the network.

The fact that they delete the really bad games suggests that Sony has some sense of quality control over this service, which lets me breathe a sigh of relief. But in turn, it also reminds us that we need to make sure we support the games that we really like! I have already bought 7 quality titles from the PSN now and really enjoy it. However, I am still eagerly awaiting Dragon Warrior VII, both SaGa Frontier and both Megaman Legends games, as well as Tron Bonne and Klonoa (even though I own those two on disc, I would gladly sell them for the cash provided they did appear on PSN!)

I imagine any games that have been removed are due to agreements coming to an end that don't allow for continued distribution of them, similar to every XBLA game that has been delisted to date.

Now I've got my PS3 back online. There's 143 US games and 14 Japanese games now on the USA store. It looks like some of the previously removed Disney games are back and we are getting more RPGs nowadays. I'll have to fix up the list and that's going to take time.
