I was playing this game recently and some people were talking about it on the bender. I think that this is an ideal game for some achievements you can really be proud of. I've got the basic for 3 tables so far and I tell you every one feels like a solid victory.

Anyone else play the game? How many tables do you have so far?

I have all the basic goals except for Arabian nights.
I haven't played in a while now.
I definitely would like to get 1000 at some point. You're completely right about them being achievements you can be proud of though. Really difficult on some of those.

I still think the whole achievement system is silly. I beat Metroid Fusion with a 1% completion rate, but I don't need a silly little score that doesn't really reflect the effort it took to be proud of it.

I have the wizard achievement for Black Knight, and all the basic goal achievements for all tables except for Arabian Nights. I can't get a Harem Multiball for any reason, and I swear the game is bugged. Multiple shots to the correct lane don't register as they're supposed to. I've probably completed every task in the wizard goals trying to get this damn multiball. It's bugged so badly I can't even get it using the alternate method.

A couple of the wizard goals are gonna be really tough to earn the achievements, such as reaching the Sun in Pinbot, the 5X in Sorcerer and some of the Specials on other tables.

But yes, get 1000 GS on this game and you've got something to brag about, that's for sure.

This game is easily the best 30 bucks i have ever spent on a game! The compilation is great, the HD graphics, music, and physics are spot on! I only need three Wizard Goals to 1K it, but they are three insanely tough goals! I need to Earn The Special From The Sorcerer Lights, Advance To The Sun And Earn The Special In Pinbot, and Win The Battle For The Kingdom In Medieval Madness.

I didn't know this game had Pinbot!
...I'm picking this up this weekend. I finished Pinball FX, I can finish this. Game on!

I have four Wizard achievements left, I hope to get them all eventually. Pin Bot will probably be the hardest for me, followed by Medieval Madness. No Good Gofers I can do with practice. Taxi on the other hand just pisses me off even though it isn't absurdly difficult. I made it to the special the hard way twice, but it didn't give it to me in the outlane. It pissed me off so much that I haven't touched the whole game in over a month.

Another thing for those reading is that (from what I heard) the PS3 Trophies for this are a joke. A buddy of mine said he was considering picking up the 360 version for the achievements since the PS3 ones were too easy and not fun.

It is glitched, the table doesn't work as it should. I had to get this by getting three of the sneak-ins, which aren't easy to get. I don't think I can make those shots by trying, it was mostly luck for me when I got three in one game.

Yeah the PS3 version gave you Trophies for getting High Scores.

I loved the Wii version, I may be picking this up as well.

Just imagine Williams arcade classics (Robotron, Defender etc.) and the pinball collection in the same game, at the same virtual arcade. They should oughtta do that.

If you enjoyed Pinball FX, then you are in for a REAL TREAT! :)

I've completed Pin*Bot legitimately back in the day on the NES and I've played a ton of the Williams pinball games previously, so it should be an enjoyable walk down memory lane.

How are the physics in this in comparison to Pinball FX? Are they at least somewhat comparable?

Baloo
12-17-2009, 05:21 PM
I played this game once, and while I do think the arcade environment and tables are reproduced well, the physics are floaty and the ball travels too fast. I remember playing Medieval Madness and shooting up the ramps no problem in the game, whereas on the real table (which I've played a ton of times) it's a bitch to get the ball up the ramp ever.

The Physics are as close to the real thing as as it gets! I loved Pinball FX, until i played this. This made me realize how the physics in Pinball FX are way to fast!

I just got the one for Taxi (basic) - damn that felt good.

Then I played Assassin's Creed 2 for an hour and a half and got 150G.

Seriously. This is what I mean. They mean much more!

... like Mega Man 9!

I've found the physics in this game to be the most accurate pinball physics I've ever experienced. There have been a few hiccups here and there with the ball jumping or stuttering about, but they've been few and far between. You won't be disappointed.

And you're in for a shock when you play the real Pinbot table as opposed to the NES. The outlanes on the table are absolutely brutal, making a run at the wizard goals to be a true test of pinball skill.

Also, for fun I thought I'd offer my personal ranking of the tables included:

1. Black Knight
2. Pinbot
3. Gorgar
4. Firepower
5. Whirlwind
6. Tales of the Arabian Nights (bugged or not)
7. Space Shuttle
8. Medieval Madness
9. No Good Gofers
10. Funhouse
11. Sorcerer
12. Taxi

(I've not played Jive Time yet but I hear it bites pretty hard)

Walmart lowered this to $30 recently, so I'd try Walmart.
...once I finish Web of Shadows, this is my next thing to tackle. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

EDIT: Medieval Madness and Black Knight?! ...I may just pick it up tonight for those as well.

I bought mine at Walmart in Canada for $30. Oobgarm funny tie-in with you - I noticed you playing it on my Live friends list a bunch. When I was at Walmart some guy had a copy while I was looking at the wall o' games and was reading the back of the game. I noticed and commented that I knew someone who'd been playing it a bunch recently and people talking about it online... he decided to try it out.

He was a big pinball fan so I hope he's enjoying it.

Having convinced a stranger to buy a game based on no real experience with it, I asked the dude who had just grabbed it for him how much it was. He said $30 so I figured what the hell - I'd either enjoy it or suffer with him!

And it's been worth the $30. ;)

I had gone to a new local arcade and it really got me interested in pinball again. I'm jonesing to actually buy a real table, so I figured this would "hold me over" until I can line everything up and buy one.

I've loved nearly every minute I've been playing it. The bugged table is the only negative thing I have to say about the game. Now if they make another collection and include some of the Bally and Midway tables, I might be all set.

GameStop was my savior. Checking basic Nashville ZIP codes shows some shops in the area with new copies.

I've been to every gamestop in a 10 mile radius. The last place I visited said the closest store that had it was in Dickson. That's about a 45 minute drive, from here.

The stores that did carry it only ordered one copy because of the low demand for Pinball games. I guess they never ordered any more copies.

I'd order it from Amazon, but gamestop has it priced $5 cheaper.

Oobgarm
12-18-2009, 01:33 PM
Well, figure that extra $5 is less than you'd spend driving to the store, or the same as having someone buy and ship to you. It's worth it.

Looks like I have to order it.

My favorite tables:

1. Black Knight
2. Firepower
3. Space Shuttle
4. Whirlwind
5. Medieval Madness
6. No Good Gophers
7. Tales Of The Arabian Nights
8. Funhouse (Number 11 in the world last i checked)
9. Taxi
10. Gorgar
11. Pinbot
12. Sorcerer
13. Jive Time

Just tried Jive Time, it's not bad for an old EM machine. Totally not something I see myself playing beyond the table goals, though.

I just realized that Purple Vomit, who is at the top of almost every table, still has not got all of the Medieval Madness Wizard Goals. That just goes to show you how hard the Battle For The Kingdom Goal is. But my buddy Lord Bling, who is pretty high up on all of the table scores as well, has actually 1K'ed this game. That is as impressive as it gets!

I will be joining the club soon, its my gift tomorrow lol.

A question to those with it, is the 4 player tournament online, if we can compete online, I think we should arrange such tourneys. As we were leaving Walmart yesterday when we got it, I broke into "my" passionate rendition of "pinball wizard" lol, people were looking at me oddly but I was cool with it

I love pinball fx so I can't wait for this.

I got it for Christmas as well. I finally got the Harem multiball. Rudy's gulp was a bit of a challenge for me, but got it. My new have to get goal now is the special in Taxi where you have to pick up the 5 passengers to light special. I have lit it, but not hit the lane in the 15 seconds. I have 2 decent online scores so far, I would have to look up tables, but one is like 125 the other like 168. Still wish there were online tourneys....

Love this game!

Hey, this game sounds interesting. I haven't played any "real" pinball simulations, I only enjoyed Pinball Dreams back in the days. The screenshots look quite cool though. It seems however that the 360 version is not out here yet (if it'll ever get released) and the game is region locked. Damn :/

Robotriot, if you are a fan of pinball you will like this one. For me it also brings back memories of playing the real tables.

Well, last night I was playing Jive Time, man did I feel shafted on one game. I scored 149,770. I was 230 points away from the 150K award. I hit the hole to spin the wheel on top of the table, in the mid to high 140s, I have all bumpers lit for 1k, it comes out, 2 bounces, down the table and loose the ball. I was so sure I was getting that 150k. So I looked at the leaderboards, and I have the honor of being the person closest to getting the award without actually getting it lol. It was highscore 73 on the leaderboard.

Fun times.

Thanks for sharing. Put this game on my list of must buy games when I get a 360 or PS3.

Even Jive Time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVDw2wFmGQk) looks like a really well duplicated pin.

Last night I finally got 150K on Jive Time. Now I need to get 4 free balls through the lit special to complete all wizard goals on that table. I have done it 3 times in a game, so I think doable, but dam hard for sure.

I also have the basic goals for all tables now.

Game's $20 new from Amazon now for x360. So tempting...

01-10-2010, 07:27 PM
Picked this up at gamestop the other day for $20 :D I'm having a blast with it. I just read the tip about the Harem multiball. I've had 2 sneak ins so I'll have to try for a 3'rd. That is a big help because I could never get the ramp part to work. The other problem I'm having is the Medevil Madness super shot. What do you do for that??? I've done super shots on other tables I just do not know what to do for that one. anyone know? It's the one I'm missing for that.
I'm reaalllllly close to my first Wizard challenge too. I just need to do the 3 million plus shot on Funhouse. I have actually done this by accident! LOL but it was when I was doing the basic goals grrrr :(

Oobgarm

I'll keep that site in mind then. :) I was checking out the usual gamefaqs and 360achievements.org and did not see anything on it. So, when I ran across this thread I decided to ask.
BTW, that worked like a charm. :D so now I have the MM basic goals completed.
Thanks again!

On the Space Shuttle table, I rolled the score counter, thought that was cool. Its the only table I have done that on so far.

One thing I find odd, if I look at my scores for the Williams Challenge, my high score is not the one posted on the Leaderboards online.... anyone else notice that? Does it only post ones where you completed the challenge, I don't recall but I assume I completed the challenge, I had 235 points on it which I think is decent.

I actually bought the PS2 version when it came out and just recently upgraded to the 360 version.

I've got all the basic achievements except for harem multiball and the 15 second shot in taxi. I didn't have too much trouble getting through the williams challenge.

It would be great if Crave would patch the game to fix the harem lane and make sorting the leader boards possible. I guess there is little chance of that happening though.

I would also love to see some DLC tables.

stonecutter
01-29-2010, 12:02 PM
I'm not sure what the deal is with the Harem lane is, but eventually you will get it, it seemed to take a while but I did get it. I agree with you, some DLC would be great, though I doubt it. Sorting of leaderboards to see people on your friends list would be cool. I would have to add everyone in this post lol.

In a previous post I wondered about a score not being on the leaderboards, I think it was due to not being connected to live possibly at that time and it doesn't upload after the fact.

Shadow Kisuragi
01-29-2010, 12:24 PM
Yeah, scores won't upload if you aren't connected to Live.
I picked this up from TRU for $20 and have been enjoying the Medieval Madness table. I'm almost done with the Wizard goals, but have failed the last 3 I need by one shot each :(

stonecutter
01-29-2010, 04:46 PM
ouch, so close, and now so far....

I need wizard goals on six tables, a couple seem like should be easy or a little luck. I was once only one shot away from completing the sun goal on Pinbot, not really been close since.

Ugh. Just picked the 360 version up for $10 today and the controls are too laggy on my tv. I shoulda bought the PS3 version since controls seem to be a bit more responsive on an HDMI connection. :-/

I use component on my 360. The lag isn't too noticeable in other games but it shows up just enough in PHOF to make it an issue.

The strange thing is that I just played the Gottlieb collection for Wii (via component) the other day and didn't notice any lag at all. Played the demo for Zen Pinball on PS3 (HDMI) and that felt fine too.

I decided to email crave about a harem fix, friend leader boards and possible DLC. This is the reply I received:

Unfortunately, we are unable to fix this issue. When we developed this title
we used the actual ROMs that Williams used in the tables. This bug actually
is in the ROM that was provided. This issue is also on the coin-op table.

We have received request for sorting on the leader boards. We are currently
concidering releasing a new title in this line and this is a feature we
would implement.

As far as DLC, we have no plans on the current title to release any DLC. We
have all the tables out that we currently have licenced to use.

Thanks
Crave Entertainment

It's good to see another pinball collection is being considered. I'd like to see a second williams collection myself but I certainly would be all about a bally collection as well.

So far I have all the basic achievements and black knight and fun house wizard achievements. I'm only missing one wizard goal on most of the tables.

Seeing as how there won't be any friend leader boards for this, let's get some high scores posted in the thread.

Actually, I finished Arabian...I found a somewhat easy way to get the Harem Multiball, but it requires precision shooting.

Unfortunately, I haven't been going for high scores, just Wizard Goals. I had 8 balls on Whirlwind when I finally got my last Wizard Goal, so I let them all drain. I haven't played in a while, but I've been meaning to pick it back up.

The Williams Challenge is easy to get through, but the fun is trying to see how high you can score. I just recorded a very nice one, total 536 to place me at #27 overall on the leaderboard. I scored over 100 on 2 different tables, the highest was 159 for Whirlwind. I rolled the counter on Whirlwind that game. I have now rolled the counter on 3 different tables.

I have increased my high scores on 3 tables since my last post, I am now going back to edit my post with my high scores.

Since my last post I played some more, I rolled the counter (beating my old high score) on Gorgar for 4 tables and counting now.

I also beat my score for Medieval Madness. I had my first chance to Beat the Kingdom, I lost the ball with about 2 hits of the castle gate left to get that wizard goal........ I was sad lol.

I also got the achievement for Sorcerer, I now have only Pinbot and Medieval Madness Wizard achievements left.

Shadow Kisuragi

I've actually gotten to Beat the Kingdom a couple times...first time was pretty pathetic and it ended real quick, and the second time I had 1 hit(!) left.

Moved on to others after that.

I beat the standard goals on Black Knight in one ball. Firepower was also fairly easy. Believe it or not, Jive Time is the game I'm having the most trouble with.

For a Williams table, it sure was designed poorly. Talk about drain-o-matic... Usually, every single shot heads right down the side lanes

I'm still trying to figure out how to do a skill shot in No Good Gophers. It's the only Pin I'm not familiar with because I never saw it in an arcade.

One thing that baffles me though..... Why was Black Knight included in this compilation, but they left out its far superior sequel? Seriously... I could listen to the background music from BK2K, all day long.
