Mine:

1. Get to 20k+ Gamer Score
2. Learn how to create snes reproductions for japanese games.
3. Get as close to a complete US DC collection as possible.
4. Get the rest of the systems on my want list.

Do you have anything planned for 2010?

I think my goal is going to be to try and scan as much of my snes stuff as I can, then pack up the cream of the crop before heading back to school in Australia.

1. 600 RPGs. Only 60 to go. :P
2. Buy a TurboGrafx this year.
3. Panzer Dragoon Saga (or Earthbound)

1. Play more of what I buy.
2. Get my collection organized.
3. Buy some systems I've been wanting for a while (Vectrex, Amiga CD32, Wonderswan)

1. Get a job so I can actually buy more game stuff
2. Weed out the bad games I still have left to go through
3. Finish beating the games I've completed many times for my videos and finally move on to uncovered ground
4. Start fresh in my way of buying games - only getting ones I will think I would like and actually play them till I get bored of them when I get them. Emulation, video watching, genre search, game series search and ratings will help me select new titles.
5. Get the other systems I'm really missing out on, like at least 1 form of C64 and Amiga.

Yeah. Totally.

1. Somehow get more hours at work, or get a job with more hours.
2. Get my most wanted games first, then work my way down the list.
3. Get a freaken wii finally so I can continue my Mario collection.
4. Finish the game review video I've been putting off, and do my other game video ideas.
5. Go to at least 1 gaming convention.

-Continue my Resident Evil collection
-Continue my ColecoVision collection

I'll try to get much simpler goals.

-Complete a lot of my backlog.
-Finish more games I haven't finished and try going to my favorites less often.
-Learn how to romhack and try to atleast starting making a game(whether I quit early on or not is a different story.) I'd like to either do a remake of Castlevania or Castlevania 2 with SCV4 gameplay or would like to translate Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together for the SNES(and since I know no Japanese, I'd be using the PSX version as reference.)

My one and only gaming goal for 2010 is

- Play

It sound stupid but this year i barely played one game until the end, Suikoden II ... and it was my second time with the game.

I hope 2010 will be a year where i can schedule a couple of hours a week.

Complete my Neo-Geo CD collection

Attempt to find a working 1581 drive without spending a fortune.

Give the new Final Fantasy a chance by ignoring all the fanboy rhetoric and giving it an honest try.

Finish some PSP JRPGs

Buy a new PS2 to replace the dead V9

Stay away from the Xbox 360 for another year and quietly snicker every time someone posts about theirs dying. That should be good for a couple of laughs a day. Keep my spirits up.

the biggest goal for 2010 is for my wife and i to buy a house. if this happens, the room of doom will have to make the move as well and be rebuilt from the ground up.

i should easily pass 4000 games in 2010, though game buying will continue to take a back seat to my baby daughter and savings to the new house

i would like to pick up a famicom disk system and a sega mark iii/jpn master system

i will continue to fill in holes in my saturn, sega cd, genesis, master system and game gear games

i will continue to fill holes in my various pre crash systems

My only goal is to sell off my entire cartridge collection. I'm happy with emulation and with stuff coming out like the SNES/NES Power Packs, I really won't miss any of it.

Won't be easy though. Been working on selling my NES collection since late October and I still have around 600 carts left. And I haven't even touched my Genesis, 2600, SMS & INTV collections yet either.

12-23-2009, 03:51 PM
Last time I did this, I picked about the easiest goal possible, and I still managed to completely fail at it. :P All I really wanted to do in 2009 was finish off the few games I started in late 2008, and I still have the two main ones left. Apathy for the games has been my main problem, but I still really want to get them off of my plate and shall aim for that once again. Here's to hoping I won't be making the same post on the cusp of 2011.

As for new goals:

Give my stuff a thorough dusting.
Finally get around to Star Ocean 4, probably just in time to put off Resonance of Fate also, haha.
Beat the last few GB/GBC games I haven't played through yet, so I can move on to more GBA games.
Consider the length and content of games before I start them so I don't get overwhelmed by playing nothing but long-commitment games.

Hmmm, that's about it. I'm not too concerned about buying. I won't pass on great deals of course, but with limited space and more than enough to play, I don't foresee buying loads of stuff.

2. Weed through all of my consoles and accessories and sell off the duplicates (or repair broken items).
3. Set up one of my two Xboxes for emulation.
4. Weed through all of my video game magazines and sell off or give away anything newer than 2002, and get rid of duplicate issues. Get them all bagged and some boarded.
5. Archive all of the games I worked on, and store them away. Scan or take pictures of the memorabilia I collected working on various titles and put it online.
6. Develop at least one XBN title.

1. Only buy current gen games when affordable and "gotta-have" status. In other words, hardly any at all.
2. Be content with playing a large portion of my 154 (and constantly increasing since they're really affordable) Xbox games.
3. Ditto with my PSX, PS2, DC and Cube games.
4. Introduce my 8 yr old son to the retro side of gaming via our NES, Atari and Genny.
5. Reach level 3000 with equally proportionate cannons in Pirates on Facebook. ;)

Container? What are you using now?

A cheap four shelve tower that I got a few years ago. It has enough room for me to put everything in, but not enough to make it easy to sort through. I've actually migrated a few games to a small book shelve I wasn't using for the purposes making my more commonly played games easily accessible.

Well, I've found that some upright CD racks work great for cartridges, if that helps.

I never thought about that. Actually, now that it's been brought up, a majority of my collection consists of games that have jewel or DVD type cases, all of which would fit neatly into a CD rack.

A friend of mine took all of her disk based games and placed all the disks in a CD folder, then stored the cases in a box elsewhere. Great space saver, but not all that attractive (and, in my opinion, it makes theft far too easy).

2. Try for a complete Atari 7800 set ( got a ways to go)
3. Try to beat around 20 games

Gameboy Color I found some pretty nice CD shelves at Big Lots that were about $40. I bought 2 of them. One of them is currently holding my NES collection of around 260 carts and I still have 1 and a half shelves to go. It comes with 6 shelves but by using the bottom you actually get seven.

Get a flatscreen HDTV (I got a DTV that's bulky and a hassle to carry around)
Rent out the house next door and store most of my stuff there
Wade through my collection and toss/sell games I'll never play
Get through my whole backlog (ha! fat chance!)
Buy fewer games unless they are cheap and/or worthy (Bayonetta next year *might* be a day 1 purchase but I'm fearing Sega will have dropped the price by mid-year)

I have a number of collections I could get 'near complete' if you exclude the most expensive games for each collection.

1. Sega Cd
2. Sega Dreamcast
3. Atari Jaguar
4. Turbo Grafx
5. Sega Game Gear
6. Atari Lynx
7. NES

I would like to complete all of these in the next two years, but sooner would be cool...I can the focus on SNES/Playstation, possibly even Xbox.

-Would like to keep buying Colecovision/2600 games when I can find them cheap.
-Buy Valkyrie Profile and Vanguard Bandits for the PS1 (been putting them off for years)
-Buy an ipod touch and use it with Game Collector to have my collection on the go.
-Get into either Amiga or Apple IIGS gaming

My Holy Grail if it presents itself: A Gauntlet I or II cabinet.

In a continuation of last year, I'd like to continue to beat atleast two games a month. I also want to double my gamerscore. Finally, I need to stop obsessing over my 360 so much. I have 20+ systems and yet I spend 99.9% of my time on the 360. It's hard because theres so much to do there, rather gaming, watching videos, listening to music or looking at pictures. I need to give my other systems more love next year.

Anyone got any in mind that they'll try to fulfill in the new year?

I plan to devote more time to my console gaming than I have. It's hard to shake the WoW bug but I need to mix it up some so I don't get that stagnant feeling from playing WoW all the time.

One resolution in particular is to finally finish my season in Home Run King. I've been on the same season for that game for years now. :smash:

I bought my Saturn on Sunday, August 18, 2000, with the intent of getting all of Sega's arcade ports, and X-Men vs Street Fighter.

The 1 2 P.......my 360 probably wishes that I'd stop playing my original Xbox and give IT some time, lol. Anyways, thought of two more.

1/ Finish our gaming room of doom. Just finished painting it, so it's underway. Flooring, baseboards, shelving and "postering" still to do.

2/ Finish Twilight Princess on the Cube. This game just doesn't pull me along. It's boring for some reason. Bailed on it for the Wii and found that it was at least more playable/ controllable on the Cube.
