Good article, my sentiments exactly. It didn't take me long with online gaming before I got to the point where I mainly just play with my friends, and if they're not on, I mute everybody else, even my own teammates.

For me, most games are 'meh.' By meh, I mean that a lot of people have their mics off or say 'hello, hello?' and then switch off/drop. Occasionally I get some annoying individuals that I can just mute, occasionally I get booted from a game for no apparent reason (sometimes because my mic isn't plugged in I know), and then, once every so often, the stars align and I get a great team of random people who are actually interested in helping each other out and playing a good game.
Just like in real life, sometimes you gotta deal with a few bad apples.
