As far as LAN goes, since this game is going to be so popular...Give it a month or two and I bet there will be some workarounds to get LAN working.
I'm sure Blizzard will consider that "reverse engineering" and threaten anyone who does it "other than them" with lawsuits, it seems to be their most favorite thing to do these days.
Remember when modding was legal? HAHA, not anymore buddy! [/sigh]

I havnt been paying attention to Blizzard for a few years, but yea I remember when modding was common. Even D2 and SC1 had mods to an extent. LAN is probably very easy to mod in, but considering the lawsuit aspect [which I completely overlooked  ] I dont think it will happen. I know a lawsuit threat from Blizzard would stop me in a second.

The title screen overheating issue really only effects people who have poorly cooled/vented systems. If your machine can run small fft's on prime 95 and not overheat, then SC2's title screen will not overheat your system. If it can run Furmark and not overheat, SC2's title screen will not crash you.
I do agree that its stupid the FPS is not capped on that screen, but to blame THAT alone for crashes is just not accurate. Its a symptom of a larger problem if it crashes your PC [fix/upgrade your cooling].
I'd like to think I've got decent airflow in my computer's case. When I put my hand over the side vent, I feel cool air coming out (I have a radiator unit attached to the heat sink that sits over the CPU). All the same, I'd rather be safe than sorry and put the text lines in and then have no reason to really worry.
(Edit: Grumble, grumble....)

I played through the whole campaign, both the Terran missions and the four Protoss ones. They did a really good job with the levels - they are very creative and you'll never have the same level twice. Starcraft 1 had a lot of "destroy all enemies" missions, but in this game they are much more diverse.
I was really disappointed with the story and characterization, however. Interesting minor characters are introduced then forgotten. The last mission features an alien device whose function is unbelievably convenient in the overall plot. Just what they needed, when they needed it. Kerrigan, whose was so devious and scheming in SC, is barely seen in SC2, and ultimately does nothing other than oppose you. It all felt very shallow. I know SC2 has been unfortunately overhyped, but the story and characterization in it feel inferior even to the original. They don't even come close.
^ YES!
I just finished the campaign as well and i agree with everything you said. Couldnt of said it any better so I will not repeat.
I think another bad decision was to make the game rated Teen, not Mature. That drastically affected the characterization.
*****Spoiler******
It made one of my favorite villains of all time, Kerrigan, so weak and shallow. Not too excited for the story anymore. I was hoping they would have to fight Kerrigan to the death.

Sadly it won't even come to that. It'll be like PS3 firmware patches that seemingly come every week. They'll keep closing the loophole that allows LAN, the community will find a new one, patch, find, patch, find, etc.
Fwiw, at least the bnet shell around the game will always keep versions consistent under the deluge of patches this would create.
I finished the singleplayer campaign as well. The missions were great fun, A+ would play again.
Ooooh I <3 Starcraft! :snuggle: I'm actually playing through Starcraft II right now. :-P

Just bought the game, yesterday.
I made it to "The Evacuation", and now my PC crashes about 5 minutes into the mission, even at lowest settings. And yes, I'm running patch 1.03....
I'm positive my ATI card is the culprit. I'm seriously about to switch back to Nvida. This ATI card has been nothing but trouble since I installed it.
Any other ATI 4XXX & 5XXX users having stability trouble, too? It's apparently happening to alot of ATI owners.
