Apparently SEGA has a new console in development for the next generation, currently going under various code names such as "Neptune" and "SEGADRIVE"
The author of the following blog has been acting as the Deep Throat of this particular project for the last year, revealing highly confidential inside information much to the chagrin of SEGA SAMMY, who have gone to the lengths of forcibly closing his operations on numerous occasions, only for him to reappear under a different host.
http://seganewswire.webs.com/apps/blog/show/4007268-recap-neptune-segadrive-specifications
That site is one big "lol". Check out this other post (http://seganewswire.webs.com/apps/blog/show/3980587-sony-fears-sega-starts-discounting-ps3s-to-make-room-for-ps4-):
Sony Fears SEGA. Starts Discounting PS3s To Make Room For PS4.
Sony has been left in such shock after learning of SEGA's grand return to the hardware field that the company has accelerated the development of it's next generation PlayStation 4 platform, as is proven by the recently revealed viral video.
Today comes further proof that Sony is in panic mode, as the company has now begun heavily discounting the PS3 to sub $200, risking financial suicide.
The price cut is in order to make way for the imminent arrival of it's next generation format. After learning of SEGA's intentions, it would seem the 10 year plan has officially gone out the window.

Spec Sheet B Chosen Over Spec Sheet A
Posted by Zach Morris on June 23, 2010 at 1:45 PM comments (15)
In a report two days ago, we reported that SEGA had chosen spec sheet A over spec sheet B, this was based on information provided by a source within Imagination Technologies of the United Kingdom.
However, today we have received contradicting information from a source within Silicon Valley. This particular source tells us with 100% certainty that in actual fact SEGA chose in 2009 spec sheet B over spec sheet A.
He also revealed to us the true reason why both NEC Corporation and Fujitsu Limited were spying on SEGANEWSWIRE, that being because SEGA has chosen the both of these companies to fabricate the arcade version of the system.
NEC Corporation and Fujitsu Limited were caught by us in the month of May. Which means the arcade chipset was already in manufacturing in May. If it is manufacturing now, then that would suggest the arcade board should be unveiled at JAMMA 2010 in September, and the board and it's accompanying debut titles should hit game centers by Q4 of this year.
As previously revealed exclusively by SEGANEWSWIRE, all of this would suggest the console variant to see release by Q4 2011.
Stay tuned for more late breaking developments.

SoJ To Handle Worldwide Distribution and Marketing for SEGA 3D
Posted by Zach Morris on June 24, 2010 at 9:47 AM comments (2)
We can officially reveal that SEGA of Japan shall be handling the next generation console for all worldwide territories (Japan, Europe and North America).
SEGA SAMMY reorganized SEGA of America to focus exclusively on digital downloads and SEGA Europe to focus exclusively on packaged software. Whilst SEGA of Japan handles worldwide responsibilities for hardware.
Hajime Satomi believes this streamlined structure has a number of benefits compared to how Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo currently operate. Key advantage being the speeding up of the decision making process, allowing for SEGA to be far more dynamic than it's rivals.
More as and when we get it.

Interesting, but poorly written bunk as usual. You only have to see Sega's latest financial statements to see that the company is in no position to afford a worldwide launch of a new console and a corresponding arcade system.

Further Information Comes To Light Regarding SEGA's New Console
Posted by Zach Morris on June 24, 2010 at 2:35 PM comments (6)
In an article published earlier today we relayed information from a source, who told us that SEGA Corporation of Japan would be handling worldwide sales duties of it's next generation console.
Proof that our source was correct and that this is indeed the case, came today from a newly released PDF from SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS, outlining the creation of two new units - SEGA Japan and SEGA International.
The PDF has already been posted in the news story below, however we would like to direct your attention to it once again, specifically Page 2 - javascript:mox();
SEGA Japan will handle the sales of the new console in the Japanese territory and SEGA International will handle the sales of the new console in Europe, North America, Australasia, South America and MENA (Middle East and North Africa).

So it's a computer built with off-the-shelf components. Sega is building gaming PCs now?
At any rate, the price of that spec would be suicide in the console market. Maybe in a few years it would work, but right now the chip is $270 and the GPU is $330...
I'm sorry if others have added this:
Sega will not be competing with Sony, M$ or The Big N for your hardware dollars. They don't have the rep or cash to pull it off. Let Sega focus on creating/publishing great games... something it hasn't consistently done for some time... since Dreamcast.

I dont think it will ever happen, but who knows these days. I agree with RCM that Sega to me died when the Dreamcast died. I would be estatic if they did make a new system, but the market is very, very crowded. It will be a hard system to sell to those already in Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, and Apple camps. If the games are there(and for the most part they have not) then Sega can gather a small loyal following. The Dreamcast showed however that you can have a following supported with good games, and that wont be enough in this day and age.

I don't know if anyone company has the clout to enter the fierce console market right now. It's hard to push forward and keep it running lean on the economic side. It would have to be a HUGE multinational company but it's possible ( I still think that Samsung will enter the market). Sega COULD possibly become successful in a niche form if they built a system that plays re-released Naomi and Naomi 2 games (taking out coin features and such). These games are already programmed (minus some minor tweaking), the hardware is probably relatively cheap to build today, and most of all people LOVE these games. Sure, it won't bust any sales records but there would be plenty of gamers that would buy one AND most importantly it would have a solid following.

SPECULATION : Could The Digital Download Based Device Still Be On The Cards?

It has come to the attention of SEGANEWSWIRE that the recently appointed Vice President of digital business at Sega of America and SEGA Europe, Haruki Satomi, is in fact the son of billionaire owner of SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS, Hajime Satomi.
The question that we here at SEGANEWSWIRE have to ask is, did Satomi senior relocate Haruki from his original position based at SAMMY in Japan, to his current post as head of SEGA's digital assault as a precursor to the launch of the on again off again digital download based console?
Mr Morris, whom is currently nursing an injury from last months E3 convention, has stated to me personally over the telephone that his eyebrows have officially been raised regarding this potentially ground breaking revelation.
Stay tuned to SNW, as we learn more on the relationship between Hajime Satomi and his son Haruki Satomi.

"A new console from Sega!?
By VampireMario on August 13, 2008, 5:50 pm
Well I work in a large electronics store over in the U.K and every once in a while we get company reps in to tell us about the latest deals and projects their particular company is working on. (Usually not at first but if you lean on them a bit they will drop some hints or just tell you ) Couple of weeks before E3 I had a chat with the Nintendo rep and he hinted that another big project similar to Wii fit was going to be announced, though at the time he couldn't tell me exactly what it was (Seems pretty obvious by now it was wii music... which looks shockingly crap). Until this I wasn't sure if his info was correct or just rumours but that seems to confirm it for me. Anyway, after about half an hour of chatting about expectations of E3 he mentions that apparently Sega have a new console in very early development that is aimed at the casual gaming market! Apparently the console isn't going to be aimed at the hardcore gaming market and will compete for the same target audience Nintendo now aims for. Now don't shoot the messenger here but I think that this would be ******* sweet... sure its disappointing that it may not be as powerful as the new Sony or Microsoft machines but it would be great to see a console with Sega on it once more. Lets just pray they have learnt lessons from the past and don't ruin their chances. Obviously I can't reveal the name of the rep in question and I know it is still unofficial but I thought it was worth a mention, after all who wouldn't want a new Sega console? Have a good one and lets hope an announcement follows in the near future."

Further Information On SEGA Download Device
Posted by Zach Morris on July 3, 2010 at 7:05 AM
Yesterday, my associate Brian Holzhauer brought to my attention recently uncovered revelations regarding the development of SEGA's digital download device, which was thought to have been on indefinite hold.
Thus I decided to investigate the story myself. What I learned in my time of research was that the download based device is very much in development, and is at the forefront of SEGA's next generation strategy.
Further unraveled information reveals that the system is based on the RINGWIDE architecture and has integrated WiFi and 8-16GB of compact flash memory. As has previously been reported here at SEGANEWSWIRE, the device contains no Media Drive, it is online exclusive. The device is to be marketed as a complete entertainment solution, encompassing Movies, Videogames, Digital TV etc.
Hajime Satomi plans on introducing the device at $99.99 and software at $4.99 and $9.99 respectively.
Launch dates are not known as of yet. However, in my educated opinion, a holiday season 2010 debut would make the most sense from a business standpoint.
Taking all of this into account, it would seem SEGA SAMMY plan on positioning this device in direct competition with the rumoured next generation Apple TV (LINK -javascript:mox()) rather than traditional console manufacturers such as Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony.
SEGANEWSWIRE shall continue covering this story as and when information becomes available.

Sega already has an online platform, and it's called PlaySega (http://www.playsega.com/). They even sell USB Saturn pads for it, which are free if you pay for several months at a time. The same games you've bought on three compilations already can be yours temporarily for the low price of $5 per month.
Building a new platform just for download goes against their recent announcements for the Dreamcast ports. This guy should be banned for spreading false, easily debunked rumors. We've called this guy out over and over, but he still keeps posting more of the same. He's beginning to remind me of a certain clone that we unplugged.

Whilst I was researching on the subject of the downloadable based device, I inadvertently learned from a personal friend of mine whose banking corporation holds significant shares of SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC, that there is no high end platform in development at SEGA for the consumer market.
I was told that SEGA shall likely continue publishing hardcore titles on MS, Sony platforms instead of launching it's own standard. The main reason cited for this is the cost of introducing bleeding edge semi-conductor based products, requiring at least a billion dollars in investment. Sony and Microsoft can play on this field as their revenues count in the tens of billions.
My associate informed me that this is the reason that the owner of SEGA SAMMY HOLDING INC has decided on a lower cost, small silicon based casual game player. A platform which requires only a fraction of the investment needed compared with a multi billion transistor design.
My source and personal friend works at executive level at a Japanese financial institution which holds significant shares of SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC. Thus all the maneuvering that takes place within the corporation, he has full knowledge off.
But what of all the sources that were providing us with all the SEGA 3D related information of the last few months, I asked my source, They could not all have be wrong could they? He replied:
"No, in actual fact what was going on here was probably some good old fashioned miscommunication. Because in reality SEGA probably does have a next generation arcade board in development and it may actually use some of the components your sources were relaying to you. They just had their wires tangled and thus was born the idea of a console counterpart, which simply does not exist."
The information that we here at SEGANEWSWIRE report on is usually provided by anonymous sources from around the globe, thus there is no assurance of validity. However, because of the status of this particular individual, we shall take his information as 100% official. Thus from this moment onwards there shall be no further mention of a highend platform from SEGA for the consumer market.

RINGWIDE Architecture Capable of Arcade Perfect LINDBERGH Ports

We today spoke with an engineer deep within the bowels of SEGA R&D about what we can expect from the RINGWIDE powered next generation digital download console from SEGA.
The engineer speaking to us on condition of anonymity told us that SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC has a grand plan for this future box. He further continued that SEGA wants to one up both Microsoft and Sony, as even though PS4 and XBox 3 shall be disc based, their successors, the PS5 and Xbox 4 to arrive by the end of the decade shall without a doubt forgo packaged goods and rely exclusively on digital delivery. What this means is that SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC shall have been awarded a one whole generation lead on both MS and SONY, as when both arrive at the digital download arena, both shall be playing catchup to SEGA.
Regarding titles, we were told that SEGA shall be porting a vast amount of their back catalogue to their new system, not only Master System, Genesis, 32X, SEGA CD, SATURN and Dreamcast but also titles from their arcade boards such as, System 1, Kyugo, System 2, System E, Gigas, System 16A, System16B, System C-2, System 18, System 24, X Board, Y Board, System 32, System Multi 32, Model 1, Model 2, Model 2A CRX, Model 2B CRX, Model 2C CRX, Model 3 Step 1.0, Model 3 Step 1.5, Model 3 Step 2.0, Model 3 Step 2.1, Naomi, Hikaru, Naomi GD-ROM, Naomi 2, Naomi 2 GD-ROM, Sega Triforce, Chihiro.
We then pressed him on the issue of the SEGA LINDBERGH. We asked whether the RINGWIDE chipset was powerful enough to handle pixel perfect ports of LINDBERGH software, considering on paper RINGWIDE seems to be considerably weaker. Our source told us that he understands why we feel that way, however numbers don't always tell the true tale.
We were informed that although the Intel Celeron 440 runs at 2.0GHz as apposed to the 3.0GHz clockspeed of the Intel Pentium 4 Prescott, because the Celeron 440 is Conroe based whereas the Pentium 4 is Netburst based, the Celeron 440 actually offers the superior performance.
On the issue of the GPU, we were told the Radeon HD 2400 XT shall have no problems keeping up with the GeForce 6800GT even though the 6800GT has twice the video memory. Our source revealed to us that the RINGWIDE architecture allows for the GPU to expand it video memory via main system ram. He continued that RINGWIDE's system ram is 1GB DDR2-667 delivering a transfer bandwidth of up to 10.6GB/s as apposed to LINDBERGH's 1GB DDR-400 delivering a transfer bandwidth of up to 6.4GB/s. What this means is that RINGWIDE only needs 682MB of it's system ram to fit the data of LINDBERGHS 1GB of system ram, this leaves RINGWIDE with a remaining 342MB of system ram. The engineer then directed our attention back to the GPU comparison, the HD2400 may only have 128MB of video memory but because it can expand it with system ram and RINGWIDE now has 342MB of it's system ram free, 128MB+342MB equates to a grand total of 470MB of total video memory.
It would seem SEGA put a lot of thought and effort behind designing the RINGWIDE. What was once thought to be weak and underpowered has turned out to be quite the powerhouse.
So there you have it, the as yet unnamed SEGA download console shall indeed see LINDBERGH's tremendous back catalogue of titles alongside titles from the company's rich history throughout the decades.
SEGANEWSWIRE would like to thank the engineer for giving us his time and sharing with us a bevy of inside knowledge.

BREAKING : The Real Reason Why SEGA Is Missing Gamescom 2010
Posted by Zach Morris on July 6, 2010 at 4:05 PM delete edit comments (12)
We received news last night from an anonymous source stating that SEGA would miss Gamescom 2010 because apparently the company plans on staging a grand showing at TGS 2010, where they shall debut their next generation home entertainment console currently going under the title "COSMIC SMASH". The source stated that SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC didn't want to spend a few million dollars on a booth at Gamescom, when that money could be diverted to the COSMIC SMASH unveil at TGS.
We initially did not report this news item as we weren't sure of it's credibility. However, earlier today came news from Europe were SEGA had confirmed that they shall not be appearing at this years Gamescom. "Commercial reasons" were cited for the move.
This is an official confirmation that our source from late last night was authentic. Meaning the world can now look forward to Tokyo Games Show 2010 to be held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Tokyo, from September 16 to September 19, to get the first glimpse of SEGA's long awaited return back to the hardware fold.

So now it's a Celeron 440 and a Radeon 2400? The last specs you gave us were a top of the line gaming rig, and now you're saying it's essentially a Wii competitor?
The only thing that has me going is the reference to iTV. If they built an HTPC box for under $200, that happened to have proper gaming capabilities, I might actually buy one. If I could get free DVR listings put my TV tuner in it, I'd replace my HTPC alltogether.
There's nothing stopping Sega from making living room PCs, but it's just such an unlikely idea. Whoever writes these "press releases" has some neat ideas, but I just don't see Sega building the machine in question. If it were someone else building the machines for Sega, I'd understand.

What Will SEGA Call It's Next Generation Casual Gaming System?
Posted by Brian Holzhauer on July 9, 2010 at 3:34 PM comments (2)
Up until now we have been referring to SEGA's next console as COSMIC SMASH. However, this is but one of the names that SEGA may settle upon.
The three main contenders at this point in time include -
COSMIC SMASH
NEPTUNE
SEGADRIVE
One source informs us that SEGA has not only made a decision on the final name, but had done so many months prior to this report.
Another source says that he is certain that NEPTUNE has been chosen. As regular readers of SEGANEWSWIRE may remember, a separate source had confided to Mr Zachary Morris that the upcoming Compile Hearts title Super Dimensional Game Neptune is a hint from SEGA about it's upcoming plans. In that particular title, NEPTUNE represents a SEGA console.
Yet another insider of the industry informs us that SEGADRIVE is in the running as the final title for the console.
On the other hand there still is no explanation as to why the goods and services of the COSMIC SMASH trademark specifically details a console.
So where is the truth?
Indeed, Tokyo Game Show 2010 is the date on the calendar where all shall be revealed.

SEGA Using the Renesas SH-Mobile APE4 Instead Of The RINGWIDE?
Posted by Brian Holzhauer on July 10, 2010 at 3:20 AM comments (4)
Regular readers of SEGANEWSWIRE shall remember that many months ago we detailed the Renesas SH-Mobile APE4 SoC (System-on-Chip). We initially reported that SEGA was to re-enter the portable market and that the APE4 was to power that particular device. With SEGA having announced full support for the Nintendo 3DS, it would seem any future plans for a portable player have now been scrapped.
Recently it came to our attention that although SEGA had abandoned the new handheld, they had managed to salvage the System-on-Chip for future electronics hardware designed for the consumer market. With no further information we decided not to report on this development. However within the last 24 hours, an inside source of SEGANEWSWIRE from Minato-ku, Tokyo, made contact with us and informed us that the SH-Mobile APE4 is at the heart of SEGA next generation casual console, currently going under the titles COSMIC SMASH/NEPTUNE/SEGADRIVE. Our source stated that the choice of chip was key to SEGA hitting the mass market $99.99 price point.
The source further added that SEGA has absolutely no future plans for the either the RINGEDGE nor the RINGWIDE for the consumer market.
Stay tuned as Mr Zachary Morris soon shall publish a report outlining in-depth information on SEGA's next console.

Yeah, except that it's not successful at all.
It's more like something you find at a thrift store, that is arguably not good enough for the incinerator let alone the garbage dump.

Odd that you should bring up Belding.
Recently, Belding gave me a demonstration of Ringedge and Ringwide.
I asked him why Ringdedge has gamepad support if its arcade hardware?
Lo and behold he goes to his safe hidden behind a portrait of Ulala and proceeds to pull out the prototype Saturn controller with the built in touchscreen.
Folks, Ringedge is the next Sega console, belive.
Also, if you want to know about the new Atari console, please follow Jesse Spano. She was in Showgrils so her credibility is without question.
If you want to know about the new 3DO console follow Lisa Tuttle.

Someone needs to ban you for this nonsense you keep creating or at the very least spreading. You only post here to self promote the fiction that you're feebly attempting to portray as real on that website that you must be involved with in some capacity.
Why you haven't been banned already is a surprise to me since you only post here to increase hits on that website. I'd guess your account is only intact since they're getting a kick out of the nonsense you keep posting about.
