This is lame...
...the people that do have a Wii and use it often are going to post, simply because they do use it often and feel somewhat offended there's a thread like this.
Those who don't use it often are likely also those who aren't going to be really into a gaming forum like this, or are just going to come in here to "Bash" the Wii for "not having any good games this year" which is bollocks.
I don't own a Wii.

I used it to play a wii game for the first time this year yesterday to play some Smash Bros. Brawl with some friends. Otherwise, I was using it to play Geist on GC earlier this year. Honestly, I will probably not play it until Monster Hunter Tri rolls along, and then it will gather dust until the only reason I got the system for comes out : Zelda Wii

lol This forum makes me laugh sometimes.
You know, on Kotaku's Census of over 30k people, one of the questions was if you still play your Wii. It was either "Yes, I play regularly," or "I only play it occasionally" or "No, it's just gathering dust." Only 6% of Wii owners said they still play it regularly.
This forum I do think has an abnormal amount of Wii lovers compared to the rest of the internet, but if you like your Wii then that's perfectly fine. Nobody should feel ashamed of having different tastes.
As for me, I have not turned on my Wii in a long time. I'll wait til Mario Galaxy 2. Otherwise, I usually stick with my PS3 and DS.

ROTFL posts like this make me laugh. Kotaku's Census focus group is far more likely to be made up of owners of multiple consoles/teenage "HARDCORE!!!1!!! GAMER!!!" boys.
It's like asking a whole bunch of Canadians: "Have you been swimming yet this year?" And extrapolating that for worldwide numbers.
It's the same old arguement, the Wii is supported, by and large, by people who don't visit forums like this, don't go to dedicated game sites, and don't give a damn about what the rest of the industry does.
I'm sure you've noticed the sales of Nintendo games, or for that matter, good selling games on the Wii (they are out there) They sell more consistantly for a longer period of time, and often you need to look at yearly sales to get a sense of a games popularity. It may drive you crazy but a game like Just Dance is outselling Call of Duty week over week, just 18 weeks from release.
The PS3 and 360 owners seem to move on the next big thing almost instantly, while games can slowly grow on the Wii. The biggest selling games this generation are on the Wii, and they may not be your thing, but people buy games to play them.
In short, yes I've turned on my Wii this year, I'd hazard to say nearly every single day.

So far this year; all I've had time for is messing with the SNES/NES PowerPaks, playing DS on the go, a little DC/360 when we had a mini-board meet with Damaramu and most recently, my newly acquired AES. Now that I have a Neo, I wonder, WTF is a Wii? LOL
I'll go back to it eventually though. It's just backburner'd for now.

You can knock Kotaku all you want, but you can't supercede their credibility unless you find a larger sample size of opinion data, which you can't. You can only point to sales numbers, which don't show anything about how long Wii owners are playing the games they own or how much they enjoy them. And even then, it's funny that you use Just Dance vs. MW2 as an example of how sales data proves Wii gaming is legit, because that example seems to prove the opposite.

I played New Super Mario Bros. Wii I think in January and after I beat it I gave the game disc back to my uncle who owns it and haven't hooked it up since.
Last time I used my Xbox 360 for anything was last July before I moved. Never unboxed it since.
Last time I used my PS3 was yesterday but not for games.
The only system that gets a ton of frequent use from me right now is my NES because I'm trying to beat Dragon Warrior 2 and it takes forever to level up.

I turned it on earlier this month when my cousin was over and wanted to play it. I also took the time to test out some Wii games I had acquired around that time. Haven't really played a game straight through since July, but I do have a few Wii and GCN games on my backlog.

I've only had a Wii since x-mas, so I guess I'm playing some catch up. ^^;
It isn't about sales (I'm getting clearanced and used games) it is something new to play, and now I'm happy I have a game that I'm not finished playing in 10 minutes.

To a lot of people, Final Fantasy XIII (for example) is not "legit", it just looks stupid. Personally, I have zero interest in Just Dance, but I also don't have much interest in the gazillionth Call of Duty game.

Haven't heard developers complaining how Halo 3, Gears of War, God of War, or Killzone outselling their products or how they get better attention from Sony or Microsoft.
The only reason Wii third-party games don't sell "so well" is the third-party developers themselves. Face it, if they put their backs strongly into the Wii as they did for 360 and PS3, then they wouldn't be suffering bad sales due to their bumbling, prideful, knuckle-dragging incompetence. I can do a whole blog series on all the royal screw-ups they did but I don't have the time right now. So, I'll focus them to three faults: lack of effort, stupid audience recognition, and poor advertisement.

It's another way of saying sales doesn't mean that a game is good. I'm not bashing the Wii, but it's usually the first party games that receive all the sales. A lot of good third party titles sell poorly and are actually better than the first party titles always up there.
God of War 3 sold 1.2 million in the first week. Does that mean God of War 3 is good? Game sucks balls. Yakuza 3 sold 50,000 the first week and it's one of the best games on the PS3. So yeah. Sales has nothing to do with how good a game or system is.

Not only that, but the most successful third-party titles are Just Dance, Carnival Games, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Fuck that noise.

I sold my Wii in October. I had not turned it on since the holidays prior to that... so, December 2008? Bought the thing on launch. I didn't hate it, I just have limited time now with job/kids/family, and the games I am most interested in are on the other platforms. I had Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports. Didn't play any of them for more than a couple days before I lost interest.
The neighbor I sold my Wii to has several kids, so I'm sure its getting much more use and appreciation now.

Wow. Ironic time for this thread ;)
I just hooked my wii up last night for the first time in nearly a year.
I FINALLY got HD cables for it, and now it can be on my system selector.
But yeah, there really isn't much that has grabbed my attention.
I've never really liked 1st-party nintendo games, and can't STAND Mario,
So there's not alot there for me.
Although, I did recently pick up Wii Pikmin, and I am really looking forwards to trying that with Wii control.
Think I'll go do that now, actually :)

Not since Summer 2008 when my uncle and cousins stayed in our house for a week and wanted to play it.
Since our house flooded and everything got packed up last summer, I don't even know where all the pieces of it are, and haven't really bothered looking for them because I don't even have to get out of bed to play PS3.

On MY Wii this year, I've only played:
-Mega Man 10
-Blaster Master Overdrive
I do WANT to sit down and finish (when I get the time):
-A Boy and His Blob (not much left)
-Metroid Prime Trilogy
-Baroque (few more cutscenes to unlock)
-No More Heroes
-Mario Galaxy
On FRIENDS' Wiis, I've played a bit of Tatsunoko vs Capcom, but that's really it. I watched them play the Monster Hunter demo, and decided to just keep mine sealed.
As far as I can remember, the only Wii title I'm looking forward to is Metroid (finally, an installment with story). Aside from that, my Wii sadly gets little use. The games that are good just don't hold my attention for long enough, and there's not a lot on the horizon that I'm looking forward to. Wii needs more JRPGs and action-adventures.

nope! the Wii is collecting dust, the PS3 is for my wife's series (of teen pregnant stuff teen mom and the secret life of the american teenager soooo boring stuff) so even if I want to play I can't my wife can watch that 2 or 3 times a day, X360 is been off for like 3 weeks after I tested FFXIII I have Dante's inferno and Mass effect 2 on hold because the Genesis demands more of my time, old games have priority cause the new ones are not as good as they should be, they focus more on graphics than gameplay is hard to stay focused on one game cause the gameplay sucks visuals and cut scenes are nice but they lack something, on the Wii DLC is out of the question cause I have the idea that you bought air, and I also have all the original systems, is easier to hunt down the game you want to play (hunting for a game is also part of the fun) than investing 5 to 10 dollars on thin air, at least I have the cartridge or the disc and sweet memories too!

Actually yes. I played some TG-16 games, plodded my way through New Super Mario Bros until World 5 (I just don't have the ambition to beat that game), played some Silent Hill and right now I want to attempt to get into Animal Crossing: City Folk more. Though I will say that's the most the system got in a while but I really didn't have the time until more recently as the last half of 2009 was taken up with play practices and chores.
To me the Wii isn't "bad", it's another option for other types of games.

I have not. I don't think I've played the Wii for 9 or so months. The girlfriend only started using it a month or two ago- but only for Wii Fit to supplement her gym regiment. In all honesty though I haven't played the PS3 much either recently. I've been too wrapped up in fixing and playing my arcade games. Arcade games are the redheaded step children around here, but I can sorta understand because they're big and they break. I'd probably post more about them in Arcade Alley, but deciding which paint to use for a cabinet or the proper application of bondo would fall on deaf ears.

I played a little bit of New Super Mario Bros. Wii at the beginning of this year (great game BTW), but that was mostly getting star coins since I had already beaten the game. Also have played Mario Party 8 a couple of times in 4 player mode when some friends come over.
Otherwise, haven't played it much at all. Though the new release of the game "Cave Story" on Wii Ware has made me strongly consider getting it. If I do, then it'll be a solid couple weeks of gameplay on the Wii.
I'm waiting for Mega Man 10 to come out on XBL since I did MM9 on there for the achievements. Otherwise I would have played that on the Wii also.

Yes. I played through Silent Hill (plus helped my wife play thru the nightmare parts of her game), played about half of the new Excitebike and new Castlevania. I have been replaying Twilight Princess, but need to get back to it.
I do mostly play the 360, but that's partially due to it being in my gameroom and the Wii being set up in the family room.

I haven't turned mine on this year but I bought it mostly for VC and nothing that's really piqed my interest has come out in quite some time. I need to look at WiiWare since there's some good stuff there apparantly. I just have such a backlog of games I want to play on my 360/PS3 and as far as retro lately I've been spending most of my time playing my Genesis so I haven't really had anything to make me want to turn it on.

Have you turned on your nintendo wii this year?
Admit it.
Yes. But between other systems and not enough time on my hands, not as much as I'd like to. I don't have too many games though, so it doesn't bother me too much to make 'em last. I did beat Indiana Jones and I'm working on Fate of Atlantis now. I also play New Super Mario Bros occasionally(on the ice levels, whichever world that is). I've still been meaning to finish up Ghostbusters since I'm at about 80% through...but like I said, it's mainly a time thing. Typically I only turn it on when my wifes out of town visiting her parents.;)

Looking at that RetroCon, it's annoying that they never released that for Gamecube. A third party remakes a Nintendo controller... what sense does it make not to release it on the current Nintendo system? Animal Crossing fans would've been all over it!

I own a Wii pretty much because of three things:
1. Father in Law bought it for us back when it was "impossible" to find right after release.
2. I have two kids (12 and 9) who still occasionally play Mario Kart or Pokemon.
3. I've kept it for exclusives like MadWorld and TvC.
Hasn't been turned on in months, but I also haven't purchased Tatsunoko v. Capcom yet. When I do - then I'll turn it back on. Until then, it's COD:MW2, Halo Wars, Uncharted 2, and Bad Co. 2 on the 360 and PS3.

I haven't played mine in a year, but that has something to do with the fact my cat bit through the sensor bar cable.
Luckily, a replacement is finally enroute from Nintendo.
But yeah, I'd been playing other stuff. I suppose if I'd had a compelling reason to play the Wii, I'd have ordered a replacement part sooner.
But who cares, because SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 IS COMING! Nothing else matters.

Set 2 candles on top of your TV about 1 foot apart. OK, so it's not the best solution(especially with a cat) but it does work. The sensor bar isn't a sensor at all, it's just 2 clusters of IR-Leds. It should really be called a "Sensed Bar".
