Exploding Hamster!!

Being as Maniac Mansion had pulled the intial copies where you could blow up the hamster in the Microwave how rare does that make those copies as compared to the reissued?? Anyone got some info?? And yes I will check the DP rarity guide!

All NTSC cartridges allow the hamster to be put in the microwave. It was only taken out of the PAL release.

The myth was that it was taken out of later NTSC versions. It wasn't. According to the database, it however WAS taken out of when it was localized in Europe.

Yep, it's a video game reverse-Urban Legend. Sort of like the reverse-legend that got started a few years ago about the Atari/ET landfill story actually being a myth.

Only thing that was taken out was the Invisible Dave trick that was only in about the first 100,000 copies or so, I'm thinking that got confused with the exploding hamster and thus starting the urban legend.
