Bomberman 2 (Famicom/NES) Question

I recently purchased the Famicom import of Bomberman 2, and I have attempted to play the 3-playered battle mode on my US NES (with a NES-Joint-01 adapter). Unfortunately, I am unable to control the third player with the four score multi-tap. Does anyone have any solutions (other than purchasing a Famicom system)?

Famicom 3/4-player adaptors and input ports are accessed differently than the NES 4-Score/Advantage, so there is little you can do about it, unless you want to get your hands dirty and reprogram your game via multiple chained Game Genies.
