Castlevania SOTN - $3
Rocky Balboa DVD - $3
Konami keyboard - $5
Konami drums with sticks -$6

These instruments look to be for PS2. Dated 2000 and the keyboard is USB. I don't have much interest in Bemani stuff. But I know anything not DDR outside Japan is either scarce, or bombed (sadly).

Lord of war was $3
The loose NES games were 3.50
Bible Buffet which is new, was a little more

I hit several thrift stores today, didn't find anything except these. Q*Bert board game for $1.99 and a Pac-Man jigsaw puzzle for $2.99.

I ended up passing on a kiddie game called Snap Dragons, that looked to be a rip-off of Hungry Hungry Hippos. Why would I consider buying it? It was by "Coleco Games" with the old Selchow & Righter (original publishers of Scrabble) logo behind it. That was published in the seven months between Coleco purchasing Selchow & Righter and they themselves going bankrupt. Ah, Coleco, why didn't you idiots know how to run a company?

Alright. Just making sure there weren't others I'd overlooked. Mostly avoided the rhythm game craze due to lack of space and players. Whether or not I could end up liking a game's music, getting swamped in plastic instruments won't do.

I am ALL ABOUT getting swamped in plastic peripherals. Looking for anything in trade? :D

Haven't been on these boards in awhile. Here is what I found yesterday.
Limited Edition Gabriel Knight Mysteries Complete with Soundtrack - $2
Nintendo 64 Controller - $3
Bust-A-Move 4 Dreamcast - $3.50
Cheats N Codes for Dreamcast - $3.50
Gameshark Lite for Dreamcast - $3.50
D for Playstation - $3.50

Also Found Atari Flashback 2 for $80
I asked the lady at the register why it was so much and she stated that it was a classic game system with alot of games on it and was very rare. Told her Bought one New in box from Goodwill a couple months ago for $2 and she stated that they didn't know what they had. Told her good luck with that one.

*ahem*

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH GODDAMNIT I WANT. I had this but I was forced to throw out the boxes of most of my early PC games... T_T

Anyway. :\ Today's finds.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-11-17b.jpg
$1 each.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-11-17a.jpg
A seller brought a ton of XBox, PS2, PS1, PC and N64 games so I took a look. I asked her for the prices and she said 4 for 10, but I figured she was talking about the N64 games. I picked up the three games above and she said it would be $9, or I could pick something else and take it for a buck. So I picked out the Gameshark for the GB/GBC. I actually needed that Monkey Island to complete a set that I plan to sell, woohoo. RE3 will also be sold. Soul of the Samurai is staying with me.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-11-17c.jpg
The CDs were $1 each. Ankle Biters (dwarf vampires try to use a sword that contains the blood of the last normal-sized vampire to create more vampires and it has a total ripoff of Blade, but he's white) was $3, and Disney Sing It! (shut up!) was $5. It has the microphone and the game is sealed inside. I only wanted the mic, anyway...

*coughs*

You should have mentioned that new batches have come out for Christmas and you can probably pick one up at Wal-Mart or Target, new, for $29.99.

Kiosk Models also just say "Demo Unit" or "Kiosk Unit" (one of the 2, I forget) on the bottom sticker. Seems to me that would just be easier ;)

BTW early retails also had that hardware layout
Edit: I found a Dreamcast BBA and a nearly complete SNES system. (the BBA is for sale check the thread)

Although the day isn't over yet the few garage sales open this chilly morning are...

I went to one nearby sale, a moving sale as well. The people had a huge amount of Atari 2600 stuff, almost all of it common and priced too high for me. I saw a few games I wanted and asked if they'd sale seperately. They told me $2 a game and I got:

Space Cavern
Skeet Shoot
Gangster Alley
Sky Jinks (nice condition label)

For $2 a piece I can't complain. While Apollo games aren't my cup of tea they look cool on the shelf with the other Atari 2600 Apollo titles I have. Skeet Shoot is the rarest in the lot, Atariage ranks it at a 5/10. Too bad it sucks LOL

Also, the people at the sale let me look in their storage shed. It really felt like an episode of American Pickers. I looked around in there and found some baggies of vacuum tubes (Sylvania and GE), a Pioneer DT-400 digital timer, and a little Jaymar toy piano. I saw a boxed Power Pad in there as well but couldn't bring myself to pull it out because I have enough junk already. The timer has some rust on top and is a little dusty, but works and should clean up alright. The tubes are all common ones and worth $3-5 a piece; they're boxed and everything. Between the baggies there are probably 10 altogether. I have a cheap little tube tester somewhere for when I find them... I'll have to dig it out from God-knows-where and try em out. I've been wanting a little toy piano for forever to use in music and now I've got one, a few of the keys don't work but there really isn't much to it. Not sure of the total cost of that stuff but I piled those things together with a few other pieces of junk and that was $12.

Most of the sellers didn't bring new stuff (many were closed for some reason), but I did find this boxed Dreamcast keyboard for $5 (down from $7), and I found that model car kit (brand new) from 1991 at another booth for $2. The guy didn't have any change so he told me I could pay for it tomorrow. But I bought the DC keyboard and got some change, so I walked back to his booth to pay him.

The DC Keyboard's box reeks of perfume. I'm not really very interested in the box so I might just toss it away. I just wanted to play Typing Of The Dead! ... and my other FPS games. I need a mouse now.

You should probably do that. I found a boxed and complete Alien vs. Predator for the Jaguar in a thrift years back, and it obviously had really cheap perfume spilled on it at some point. It still reeks to this day. It's faded a little bit, but it's fairly potent after all these years. If you don't really need the box for collecting purposes, toss it. Or light it on fire, since it's been soaked in a flammable liquid. It'll probably go up like flash paper!

Well, I went back to the Value Village where I found Valkyrie Profile, to see if they still had the Japanese copy of Brave Fencer Musashi I had seen there. Of course, every good PS1 game I had left behind on Tuesday (including Brave Fencer Musashi) was gone.

So next I decided to stop in at a local collectibles shop. While browsing through the PS1 selection, I found a Japanese copy of Brave Fencer Musashi! I thought "Could this be the same copy that was in Value Village?" I asked the owner about it, and yes, it was the same copy!

Now, the owner had priced it at $30.00. But since we both knew he had only paid $7.99 for it at Value Village, he was nice and let me have it for $15.00. What's interesting is that I think this may actually be a Chinese release of the game, because there's a bilingual Chinese/English manual included. The manual is quite handy, as it has English translations for all the primary moves and menus.

A word of warning on Dreamcast mice... they SUCK!

Mine, the wheel takes a good several clicks to register a scroll, and the inner rollers are really out of whack. You can get an official DC mouse for about $10, but I'd put a few extra bucks into it and just get a USB mouse adapter. Seriously, I hate that thing and wish I had shopped around for an adatpter instead.

A random garage sale this morning, I spotted a silver slim PS2, with a silver controller and it's hookups. I asked for a price and was quoted $5. I couldn't get the money out of my pocket faster.

:D Score!

Nothing special except the one oddity. Serious Sam I mentioned before. Hellfire was 2.99 at a Goodwill. The rest was from another thrift and came to 22.50 total after tax. It is hard to see, but there is also a NES ac adapter there.

I got to the flea market and noticed a few US and Japanese PS1 and PS2 games at a booth for $7 each. I picked out Breath of Fire III and went looking around the area and found, get this, OGRE BATTLE (no manual). I snatched that right away, along with Final Fantasy Tactics black label. The other games were a weird combination: Tekken 3 (PS1 JP, no spine card), Street Fighter Zero 2 The Best (PS1 JP, no spine card), Ehrgeiz (PS1 JP, no spine card), Alundra (US PS1, no manual), Parasite Eve (US PS1, no collector's CD, was $10), Resident Evil Code Veronica (PS2 JP), Final Fantasy X (PS2 JP), Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2 JP), Crash Bandicoot (PS1 US, black label)...

And...

Cosmic Race.

Yes, Game Players' 0.0-rated Cosmic Race. I left that behind since I can't play it, and I'm not sure if it's worth anything or not. It also had no spine card. :(

Echoes (a two CD Pink Floyd collection) was $2 at another booth.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/comics-2010-11-19.jpg
Oh and these comics were 50 cents each.

Two booth owners also brought a literal TRUCKLOAD of VHS tapes and I can't wait to get my grubby hands through 'em. I'll do that tomorrow since it was too crowded today.

$2 each, all complete, from Goodwill. Never have seen Master System games packaged like that before.

Only Cyborg Hunter works with my Genesis controller, all others just fidget around or don't respond correctly. I'm using a Power Base Converter and a 3-button Genesis pad that works fine with every other Genesis/Master System game I have. Odd. :?

Picked up a few things at Book Broker today - doing some Christmas shopping for work buddies who asked me not to spend a lot on them.

The good stuff:
Fullmetal Alchemist manga v. 3 - $4
Final Fantasy IV DS (sealed) - $15

The really good stuff:

Fullmetal Alchemist manga v.4 w/ Edward Elric figurine (box slightly beaten up - otherwise mint) $10
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (complete) - $10! :o

ironicly you got 2 of the 4 games that have issues with the genesis control pads, interestingly enough if you can get wonderboy to boot up in japanese mode the controller works with it (and its twice as hard as the us version)

The VHS tapes were $1 each. GunHed sounded familiar so I grabbed it (Edit: Aha! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunhed_%28video_game%29)). I KINDA remember seeing a trailer for "Evil Toons" in another movie but I'm not sure where that was; Wheels of Fire looked like a cheesy Mad Max ripoff, and Doctor Mordrid... it's got Jeffrey Combs as a magician. Yeah, haha!

I took a gamble on the Publisher 2007. It cost $10, and it turns out it's worth around $60-$80 used. Woo.

Found Quake 2 Ground Zero and FS98 at Goodwill and noticed a guy who came in after me browsing the cds. I thought I scoped the electronics section thoroughly however this guy after me found a 360 HD-DVD drive for $10. That seemed to be a bit of a let down after buying the cds for $1 each. I went by a Salvation Army afterwards and was pleasantly surprised. Found Japanese Ridge Racers for $1.50 and the Rome gold pack for another $1.50. Later at a Value Village found the 3 NES games for $1 and the SNES pads for another dollar.

With the holidays, football games and my sister popping out a kid this month, I haven't had much time to go hunting. I did find some good deals so far this month, but I'll skip the pics since they're all current gen games...

Sin & Punishment 2 - $25

Managed to go out yesterday. Didn't get anything too spectacular:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/DrDib/photo-2.jpg

Thrift Shop:
Hey You Pikachu VHS - $.50
Meowth Plushie - $.15
Jigglypuff plushie - $.25

The plushies were usually 2 for $.25, but the Jigglypuff plushie had a tag worn off. The woman at the cashier thought it was one of their's, my explanation of it possibly being one from another place was discarded, so she charge me a bit more. It was a little annoying, but I still got a good price on it. Both are dirty though, so I'll have to figure out how to clean them.

Disc Replay:
Jet Grind Radio
Wario Blast
Super Mario Land 2 Golden Coins
All $4

Went to Disc Replay and was surprised by this store's stock. I rarely go to the one I purchased the stuff at, so I was in for a shock. They had walls of NES,SNES, and Genesis games. I was running on a time limit and budget so I couldn't really buy a whole lot. I bought other things for my family, so that's why I went with the cheap stuff. I do now own all the Mario Land games though.

Flea market today....

Stopped at one booth with a stack of records. I browsed through and found an interesting looking one "Ragtime Goes South of the Border" by Del Wood. Well, for $1 I figured I couldn't go wrong. I was expecting something like a mariachi rendition of "The Entertainer" but I was startled to find honky-tonk covers of "Mexican" songs (by "Mexican" I mean what 1950s/60s Americans considered Mexican music). It's pretty bad but there's a nice rendition of "Tequila" on it.

Other than that I splurged a little and got a copy of Kirby's Squeak Squad, a game I've been wanting to play for a while, and that was originally $15, talked down to $13. I think that's an alright deal. It's in good shape with the original case and instructions and everything.

That's it for today, I have high hopes for finding some stuff this week even though.

$31

I noticed one yardsale on Craigslist down town that mentioned video games or video game systems that sounded like it might be interesting. I didn't really haggle much since the starting price for all or most of the games seemed reasonable. I was up to 27.50 and asked about the Xbox 360 rechargable thing and I think they wanted $8 at first but I got it added in for $2.50 bringing it to $30 even then I asked about Castlevania Adventure which was with a GBC and added that in for a buck to bring it to $31 total, only other thing I haggled on was Prince of Persia (PS3) which they let me add in for $5 (I'm guessing they had $10 in mind for it for a starting price). Here's the breakdown on what they were asking for everything else.....

Earthworm Jim 2 (Saturn) - $2
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP, Complete) - $5
Old Portable & 2600 Games - .50 each (Except for Castlevaina Adventure $1)
Everything Else Pictured Not Mentioned Was A Buck Each

Nothing much today, just a Memory Card Plus for the Saturn ($1) and two more VHS tapes: Dollman and Shrunken Heads ($1 for both).

That other booth that had the tons of tapes? Well, the owners decided to dump tons of clothes on top of all the tapes so I couldn't look at them. I'm hoping that they'll just dump everything into a nearby booth on Thursday and sell everything for $3 a bag, like they usually do.

And yes, I'm going flea market hunting on Thanksgiving. It's a normal day down here for most of us.

Masturbation in a box....

Anyways, had Parasol Stars (PCE) waiting in the mail today. I loved playing this on one of my TG-16 emus and decided to buy it; but unfortunately the PCE version is more 'rare', which always means more expensive in the whimsical fantasy-land of Ebay :(

From the last few days...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/orangest/CIMG1663.jpg

The 2 Mortal Kombat Trilogies (from 2 different Goodwills), Final Fantasy Tactics and the sealed Board Game Top Shop were $4.99. Oddworld was $7.99, but contained one of the more interesting items I've found inside used game packaging, the former owner's report card...

It's unsigned on the back, wonder if he was trying to hide it to keep his video games from being taken away...

Wow. I thought that finding birthday cards inside games was weird, but you win by a long shot.

So anyway. Here's yesterday's and today's finds.

On the right, Dollman and Shrunken Heads.

On the left we have a 1GB stick of RAM I bought off eBay and three VHS tapes for a buck each: Surf Nazis Must Die, Future Force (David Carradine with a metal arm!) and Terror Vision. The seller refused to lower the price because he was a dick.

I've got a DVD with both Future Force 1 & 2 on it.... You've reminded me I need to watch it!

A nice pre-Thanksgiving find at Goodwill today...I went in at lunchtime, and the media shelves were crowded with people, so I reversed my usual route through the store. The stuff in the glass cases hadn't changed, and all I saw on the electronics shelves was a single, overpriced SNES controller. But random game hardware often means random games, so I headed back over to the media shelves. I snagged a loose NES Super Mario Bros. 3 for $1.99 from a small stack of NES commons, and as I was turning away, I almost missed these beauties nestled between a bunch of 80's VHS movies:

http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/7629/snes8.jpg

8 complete, mint SNES games, almost like new with inner boxes and plastic end caps. A little pricey at $3.99 each, but given the shape they are in, still a great deal. I know I''ll get a slew of condition upgrades for my collection with this lot. It's only Tuesday, and I already have something to be thankful for!

Nice finds on SMAS and the DKCs. I'd like to find DKC complete for less than $10 one day.

So let's see.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-11-24.jpg

Digital Image Pro 7 CIB was $5, "Josh's Blair Witch Mix: The Blair Witch Project" "soundtrack" was $1. I seriously couldn't find much of anything today anywhere, I guess the Goodwills just didn't stock much stuff today. :P

I did, however, walk out of there with a large lot of about 100 CD-Rs and DVD-Rs. Why? Well... apparently someone who used to work in movies dumped a ton of their test footage and screener DVD-Rs with TV episodes and movies, as well as CDs with photo dumps, at wherever this vendor picked up the stuff. Just a hint? Many of these have a bunny logo in them. Ahem. That large lot was $5. I haven't had a chance to check them out because I went to the doctor. I had to blow $50 on his fee and the medicine he prescribed. Oy. T_T

(That's $50 that doesn't go to bills, kiddies. And yes, this doctor is Mexican, hence the low low price... in comparison to you guys.)

Went to Goodwill today. Started off at the CDs and I picked out Dragon's Lair. My brother and I had just watched an episode of Family Guy with a manatee gag involving it which was weird. I passed on the soundtrack for Camelot, my mom liked it but she said she didn't really want it, and a Tenacious D soundtrack. The latter mainly because I was trying to skim on how much I spend.

Anyway, as I was about to call this a bust with my lone copy of Dragon's Lair, I stumble across a stack of PS2 games for $3.00 each. The games I can remember off the top of my head were: Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando, Ratchet and Clank: Up your Arsenal, Sonic Heroes, Scooby Doo: 1000 Frights (or somethign like that), Mystic Heroes (I think), DBZ Budokai 3, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi, Spider Man 2, and Jimmy Neutron. I picked out DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi as I had the Ratchet and Clank games and didn't really want the others. I also ended up putting back Dragon's Lair at this point as I was saving for Black Friday.

tl;dr:
I bought DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi for $3 + tax.

I picked up the Deus Ex Collection off of Steam this morning. For the PC, obviously heh! The collection includes both Deus Ex Game of the Year and Deus Ex Invisible War for the freakin' awesome price of $4.99! The sale ended at noon today so it was a good thing that I went on the site when I did or I would've missed out. I've beaten both of these games on their console incarnations back in the day, but it's great to play them how they were meant to be played :)

If we're going to mention the stuff we've bought on Steam, well...

Yesterday: Alpha Protocol ($7.50), GridRunner Revolution, BRAINPIPE: A Plunge to Unhumanity, QuantZ, Galcon Fusion, ProtoGalaxy ($5). Gridrunner Revolution DOESN'T WORK. The Dev's screwed us out of support.

Today: Gish, And Yet It Moves, Puzzle Agent, Jolly Rover, Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale ($5), Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days ($5). I already owned Jolly Rover and Valve wouldn't let me gift it. Dicks.

I found so many of my most wanted games today so I'm happy my wallet isn't though.

SNES
Earthbound
Ogre Battle: March of the black queen
Super Metroid

N64
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time (complete)

I paid $140 for everything.

Man, Amazon's week of sales is killing my wallet. Mad Men 1-3 on Blu for $10 each, and then Entourage 5 and 6 for $10 a pop. I still have to stay up another three hours to get Superbad on Blu-Ray for $5. Ugh. Good thing I missed Gran Torino for $5 or I would be broke.

Don't even get me started on XBLA. Trials HD, Puzzle Quest 2, Serious Sam 2, Jenga, Connect 4, DLC......

Yeah, I was hoping for that too. :/ I already own Jolly Rover (<3), and was hoping I could gift an extra copy to my niece who loves adventure games. No such luck.

I remember when that Spyborgs was first shown and it got a horrible reception because it was like a cartoon so then they went and made it into a gritty brawler.

Is it good?

I haven't tried it out yet. I was sold on the co-op play and the price was too good to pass up on. I hadn't heard much about it, so it was most definitely a blind buy.

I did a little craft project with an Atari 2600 cartridge, a USB hub, three flash drives, and a Dremel grinder today. Since the cart I used (E.T.) had a torn up label, I went to a couple Movie Trading Company stores to find a good replacement to put on my new USB flashdrive RAID. I settled on Adventure for the label donor. The Air-Sea Battle and Indy 500 carts are 1986 re-releases, with black stickers covering up part of the cheaply printed labels. Infiltrate and Pinball I bought just because I've always liked them. And I don't recall if I have a copy of Oink. At the next store location I came across the two imports. There were two Dragonball games, this one was $5.99 and the other was $9.99. I have an interest in collecting import games I come across in the wild, but nothing will make me shell out ten bucks for a Dragonball game.

Went to Wal-Mart last night to look for a baby walker and some stocking stuffers. Naturally I ended up in the electronics section. They set up this huge display that was effectively a cardboard dump bin. ;) It had all manner of titles from older titles to recent releases. On one side I spied a few PC games such as the Total War Battle Pack and Trine. They had price stickers on them that said $5. Intrigued, I started to sort the colossal mess and dig deeper.

I'm rather glad I did, I managed to snap up the following titles...

Sherlock Holmes: The Secret of the Silver Earring - $3
Legendary - $5
Painkiller: Triple Dose - $5
Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity - $5
Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis - $5
Dracula: Origin - $5
The Experiment - $5
Dawn of Discovery - $5
Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties - $10

I already had Trine and the Total War Collection. I was going to pick up copies for my cousin but Black Friday had already taken a toll on my bank account. ^^; I'll call him up and see if he wants to go later today to get them.

Some of the titles I passed on were titles like Build-A-Lot, 7 Wonders II, Raven Squad, Spore: CE, some hidden object games, and Serious Sam HD. Not sure why I passed on the last one considering I bought Painkiller. :p

Flea market:
One booth had some beat up records for $2 a pop. That's where I found this treasure on the far right. It's a Falco album with "Rock Me Amadeus (The American Edit)", and "Vienna Calling" and a remix of that song as well on the B side. The record was in a crumbling thin plastic sleeve in the beat-up black sleeve, so it's actually in very nice shape and has a clear sound on my player.

The other records you see came from a booth where in the past I picked up a Rockwell and a Eurythmics album. It's The Police's Synchronicity, Adam & The Ants Kings of the Wild Frontier, Duran Duran Seven and the Ragged Tiger, and Raider of the Lost Ark and Star Wars ("movie on record" the fronts say.... interesting). Those were $1 a piece. There was one more Adam and the Ants album but when I took it out of the sleeve, there were deep gouges in it... Looks like someone took a knife to it so I left it.

Also, one booth I got Sub Logic's Flight Simulator II for C64, CIB. It also has "Scenery Pack 1" which features 4 big cities from around Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth, Brownsville, San Antonio, and Houston). That was $2 and I figured I couldn't go wrong at that.

Saint's Row with a cracked case but good condition disc, $2. I spotted it in a stack of DVDs. 360 games are usually godawfully overpriced but I asked and was given this price. I will usually buy <$5 360 games as long as they aren't sports/Burger King games.

A friend of mine that deals in electronics, he's this hispanic guy. I bought some Pioneer headphones from him last week. Today when I saw him he went to his car and pulled out these headphones, Yamaha YH-2 orthodynamic headphones. I had really never heard of these variety but from the look and feel of them they looked to be of quality. He told me $10 and I thought what the heck and bought them. It seems they're pretty good, a set of YH-1 headphones sold for $89 on eBay. I bumped into one of his terrible keyboards and accidentally pressed a few keys, it seems it was on. He asked me if I played and I said yes, he asked me to play something. I decided to play a song that I have been addicted to as of late, "Super Disco Chino" by Enrique y Ana, which are a Mexican kids' song group from the 80s. It's one of the few songs I can play by memory. I played some of it on the keyboard and he had a huge smile on his face. That's the great moment of the day for me.

Anyways, good way to end the month. I've got to start getting my things ready for SS and get things listed on eBay for the Christmas rush.
