I'll go first:

Metroid and Dragon Warrior for the NES are a bunch of tedious crap. Boring, uninspiring, and downright pathetic. Nothing about them makes them playable, and I still don't see what anyone could possible find fun or enjoyable about them.

Please try NOT to respond to another person's post. Just state your controversial opinion regarding a game/system and move on. Each post should ideally be independent of the others.

As for my controversial game statement, I feel that handheld gaming is much better than consoles, PCs, and arcade games. Why buy a game that you can only play in one place? I love taking my Nintendo DSi to work.

Despite the whole red ring thing, the xbox 360 is a better machine than the ps3. The reasons are:
1) No mandatory installs delaying enjoyment of your new game.
2) Updates take seconds instead of minutes-hours
3) Online play is much more stable on the 360
4) Comparing gamerscores makes much more sense to me than trophies (just me preference in scoring systems.)

Xbox 360 was fun until that time Nintega said there were no FPSes for it and showed me how one person can represent most of a system's fanbase's total IQ.

The Mega-CD and 32X kick majority ass.

The SNES sound chip is the best 16-bit one.

The N64 is awesome, the PSX is remembered only due to CD audio, FMVs and loading time.

The Sega Master System bores me. So does the 7800, Lynx and Saturn.

The Metal Gear Solid series is sort of boring to me. I prefer the MSX games more.

The Xbox 360 is mostly known as an overhyped POS due to the inane amount of twelve to ninteen year olds drooling and screaming over CoD (no, goddamnit, it isn't pronounced "cod" (caud) like the fish, it's C.o.D.(see-oh-dee)), Halo, and "Nazi ZOMBEEZS!!!11!1!".

The Wii is fun, but not the rushed seventh-party motion games (I'm looking at you, Carnival Games and most of the exercise craze games), or the Virtual Console ($10 for SM64, a N64 game I find at the thrift store for $3? Really?)

This is the first rant list I've done in months, and, thus, 'tis controversial.

The Final Fantasy Tactics series is a over-rated, generic piece of crap and is given too much credit for what it did/does (NOTHING). The only reason it had any success was the Final Fantasy branding. Shining Force and Fire Emblem way outclass it.

The Saturn was and is awesome. Its quality game library equals that of the N64 and PS1. It just has a lot less junk on it.

I can not wait until the the reign of the FPS genre comes to an end. It is tired and clichéd.

Sega is a moronic developer who are incapable of developing quality new games for their old library of titles that saw brilliance on the Megadrive/Saturn.

Ironically, I never cared for the Genesis versions of the games. But for some odd reason, I really enjoyed the SMS versions. Can't explain why. Just found the Genesis version to be a redundant, repetitive mess.

I concur with the OP on the original Dragon Warrior. It's aged horrendously.

Most popular jRPGs are mediocre at best, with too much grind, clichéd stories, shitty writing, and annoying characters.

Treasure's games are really hit or miss for me. Mischief Makers is one of their misses, and Gunstar Heroes, while a good game, is not a classic on the level of Contra or Metal Slug.

The Saturn were a better buy than either the N64 or Playstation.

On that note, Mario 64 isn't half the game NiGHTs Into Dreams is.

The Neo Geo CD's load times are mostly fine.

Edit: Oh, and the Jaguar controller was pretty good, and I actually liked the number pad.

Suikoden is Over 9000 times better than Final Fantasy VII and should have sold millions of units by 1997. Suikoden II is so good, it should be more common than Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. Final Fantasy Tactics is just an ugly ripoff of Vandal-Hearts. We all know Konami made better quality RPGs than Squaresoft ever did.

Saturn is overrated slightly by the diehards. This is coming from a (once) Saturn fanatic who still has love for the system. The library in hindsight is not as diverse as I once thought. I find there has been/is a lot of romanticizing that goes on with the Saturn. Don't get me wrong, it's my 2nd favorite system, but it's not quite as awesome as I once viewed it.

- I'm "cool" because I know every line from the PS1 game Horned Owl by heart. I often speak each line while I play the game. :p
- The original Legend of Zelda has aged horribly and is unplayable. The Adventures of Link is even worse (A Link to the Past is pure gold though).
- Super Mario Bros. 2 is much better than the original and 3 combined.

Well, I said in many ways better (which I stand by), not unequivocally better. I will put it this way, I had an equal amount of fun playing through RE 5 as I did when I bought and played through RE 2 (which I bought new on launch day).
