A few finds from a pregame Goodwill run today:
http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/931/halotron.jpg
My 6th Halo Reach figure from Goodwill (thank you Target!)...this time a Grunt Ultra...$2.99
Another original Gameboy...no game, but in nice shape...$4.99
And a Tron Legacy figure in destroyed packaging for $1.99. No damage to the actual figure, but the actual scene seems odd. It looks like Sam Flynn is either jumping or getting sucked into a Tron arcade machine. I saw the movie, and don't recall anything like this...weird. The mini arcade will look nice on my shelves regardless.

So that means the second series is in stores. Prior to seeing that you found one in a Goodwill, the only place I've seen the series 2 figures was on eBay from Southeast Asia.
Also I believe that pose is supposed to be him jumping from the ENCOM Tower.

a few quick questions
First off what games did the light guns use?
wasn't house of the dead 1 on this system at one point?
also the steering wheel has had its shifter broken off.. is there anyway to fix it cheap and easily and make look like it belongs instead of how the guy i bought off from described on what i could do (stick a pen in there or something which would probably work... but it won't look right for resale lol)

That's a nice haul for that price. :D I wanna say 3D Baseball is one of the more harder to find titles but I might be mistaken. While the bulk of that lot is sports games, there's a few that make it worth the price paid IMHO.

Virtua Cop is a light gun game. There's also the sequel, Virtua Cop 2. House of the Dead 1 did come out on Saturn and I'm certain it used the light gun (unlike the 2nd game on DC which did not :?). Ummm what other games were there....yeah I'm drawing a blank. ^^;

Ummm. I don't know what game you were playing, but House of the Dead 2 on Dreamcast uses the lightgun OR the controller. You can also use one of each if you have two players but one gun.

Sadly, this is just an "almost" find. Experienced my first Goodwill Outlet store last week. Wasn't doing too much digging, but hoping something would catch my eye. Found a cassette case for Erik B and Rakim that actually contained a cassette of the Digital Underground! Passed on that gem, but then came across the Q*Bert board-game. Box and game board were in really good condition, even came with the instructions, plus some flyer for some other game. However, most of the pieces were missing, including Q*Bert himself. So I passed.

It came with the Touch Pad. That's why the box is bigger for Star Raiders.

There used to be a GameXchange in Irving, TX until last year. I've always wondered what happened to that place. Earlier this week I went to a big thrift in Irving that I rarely ever visit since it's usually a disappointment. There I found unopened third-party Dreamcast controllers, GBA gear, used Saturn and Genesis controllers, and SNES/Super Famicom 6-port controller taps, all with GameXchange price stickers and labels on them. Taking a wild guess as to what happened, either GameXchange was locked out for non-payment of rent and eventually had their stuff donated by the landlord, or they closed and donated non-current game stuff for a tax write-off. Either way, I missed out on a lot of good stuff. I have fairly bad luck with that thrift, the finds-to-empty handed ratio is fairly low there. But who knows what I could have gotten right after all that stuff was donated.
This week all I found were three unopened 3rd party Dreamcast controllers ($2.99 each), a Blackjack 21 battery operated mechanical handheld game from the '70s made by Waco ($1.49), a loose Mega Drive (British Genesis) copy of Sonic 2 ($1.99), a loose Gunstar Heroes Advance ($2.99), the soundtrack to Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (99¢), Outside Shelley Berman (99¢), and a Harvard Lampoon comedy album ($1.99).

I'm not sure what the pc games are worth but I figured I could flip them for atleast double what I spent on them. And TLS was a surprisingly good movie that had a song I wanted to get for awhile. All in all this has been a pretty good January with all the finds I've had(especially Kinect). Hopefully things will continue to go well when I hit a new flea market tomorrow.

$3 for both, both are new.
Fun fact about Thursday's CDs: One of the booth owners brought three boxes of CDs. I offered to help them set it up if they gave me first dibs on looking through them so they said yes. Apparently this lot came from San Francisco because there was an insane... INSANE amount of gay music. As in, gay themed music. Coming out, gay pride, gay awareness, that sorta thing. It was kinda weird. >_>
Oh yeah, the only worthwhile song in that White Knuckle Scorin' album? The very first track (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBAay9nPtOU). Everything else is completely and utterly forgettable. And what the hell does Roy Orbison have to do with Nintendo?

Garage sales have been dead in my area for the past month; the only thing to even pop up was an estate sale that stated in their ad "cash only" and "no children allowed", which typically means "Very expensive, fragile stuff only my grandma would be interested in". However, I have had some decent finds at Game-X-Change lately:
- Rampage: World Tour (N64. Loose in near mint condition): $7
- Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis. Loose in very good shape): $4
- Mega Man V (Game Boy. Loose in very good shape; had some red marker on the back): $6
- Miracle Warriors (Master System. With box in very good shape): Free (B3G1 sale)
- Sega Master System (Bare system in rough shape; jammed pause button): Free
Although it's not the Mega Man 5 I'm looking for (I'm trying to find another copy of the NES MM5), I was pleasantly surprised to find a copy at such a cheap price; I remember that back when Gamestop still dealt in original Game Boy games, it was the most expensive one they had (It was a good $25 for the longest time).
As for the Master System, it was something that was brought in earlier into the day that the person didn't want anymore, but the store couldn't take because it didn't have any of the cables. Since they know me well over there and they where just going to throw it away, they let me take it; giving me something to try and clean up and see of it works. I expect to see some dead bugs when I crack it open...

Yeah. I saw it at the local Gamestop circa 2005, but I wasn't able to get it because I didn't have enough money on me. As it always goes, it was gone by the time I had enough to get it.
Also, on a unrelated note, that Master System is working. One thing of note is that it doesn't seem to have the Snail Maze game in it; even if I do the button combination on the boot screen, it still goes straight into it's built-in game, which oddly enough is Missile Defense 3D (Which I can't find any info on a Master System that has that game built-in; most have Super Hang-On, like my previous one did. Maybe I found a rare hardware variant?)

Ummm. I don't know what game you were playing, but House of the Dead 2 on Dreamcast uses the lightgun OR the controller. You can also use one of each if you have two players but one gun.
Easy cowboy, holster that pistol and put away the lasso, I'm probably remembering some info wrong. A simple mistake. :ass:
I think HOTD2 had the official DC light gun blocked in certain regions, but it worked with third party ones, or something like that.
This is what I was thinking of. And a quick search yielded this...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamcast_light_guns
Dreamcast Gun
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6d/DreamcastLightGun.jpg/220px-DreamcastLightGun.jpg
The Dreamcast Gun is a light gun that was made specifically for the Dreamcast; however, it was released only in Europe and Asia, where it is the official light gun for use. It works on American consoles, as all Dreamcast peripherals are region-free. American gamers could either import this controller at inflated prices, or choose from two third-party controllers released for the system. However, the Dreamcast Gun was purposely disabled for use with American games. This was an intentional move on Sega's part, who were worried about bad press after the Columbine High School massacre. Instead, Mad Catz released an officially licensed light gun in America, which does work with Sega's US gun games. The official European and Asian Dreamcast Gun does work with Virtua Cop 2 on the Sega Smash Pack (which was only released in the United States) as well as the 'Big Car Hunter' minigame in Demolition Racer: No Exit. It also works with all freeware Dreamcast lightgun games.
The pistol-shaped gun has one expansion slot that is compatible with the VMU and the vibration pack. This allows the player(s) to save their games and get a more authentic arcade-like experience. The gun has been acclaimed by users as being extremely accurate.
StarFire LightBlaster
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/52/StarFireLightBlasterDreamcastlightgun.jpg/220px-StarFireLightBlasterDreamcastlightgun.jpg
This light gun was manufactured by Interact. This accessory featured a directional pad on its left side, and two start and B buttons on each side. It has an auto-reload trigger (located just in front of the gun trigger), which gave gamers mixed results. The auto-reload had split-second delay, and although more realistic in terms of timing, was not exactly what many gamers had in mind. With a Jump Pack plugged in, it can simulate recoil when shots are fired.
Dream Blaster
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/80/Dream_Blaster.JPG
Mad Catz's Dream Blaster is the official Dreamcast light gun for use in the United States. This is the reason why it features official Sega branding on the side of the gun and has a design mimicking the Dreamcast Gun. This gun also features an auto-reload feature. However, unlike the Star Fire Light Blaster, it lacks the delay, thus giving the player(s) an infinite stream of ammunition.
That's what I was remembering, that the official Light Gun didn't work on US games. I remember Mad Catz being an official 3rd party but their product were (are) junky and I couldn't bring myself to willingly purchase their products so I figured I would just go without or pick up the JPN version at some point. :|

Actually, the Lightblaster and Dream Blasters are pretty decent. I have two of each and they work quite well.
Now, OTHER third party brands? They're iffy at best.
I have four or five different pairs of light guns and some are truly awful.

There was a "Sci-Fi Expo" here in Plano this weekend that I decided to take the kids to. They are really into Beyblades and other japanese based toys so we thought maybe there would be something for them there. Turns out it was the same old dealers with the same old tired boxes of 90's Star Wars and Spawn figures. Bumped into Brett Weiss in the hallway outside and we talked for a few minutes. I asked if there were any games to be had inside and he said there was an Import games guys setup but not much else. Brett was there to do some interviews with some of the actresses there, the "Women of SciFi" was the theme of the expo.
Anyway, I did find a few random games at tables, but most were extremely expensive - ebay prices or higher, so I passed. I here's what I ended up with:
Star Trek TNG: Echoes from the Past (Genesis) complete and nice
Super R-Type (SNES) - complete in box
Sonic Pocket Adventure (NGPC) - with case
Puzzle Link 2 (NGPC) - with case
Dark Arms (NGPC) - with case
SNK Gals Fighters (NGPC) - with case
Got all of this for just under $50. Not great, but considering I didn't expect to see any vintage games here, no bad either!

This month has sucked for me. I've been moving to a new house so I've only went out a few times. My best finds were things I found in old boxes while moving:
Original CD's of Warcraft, Red Baron, Road Rash, and Duke Nukem 3D. I can't wait to go through my storage building in a few weeks because I know the original Warcraft manual and more CD's are in there.
Shiny OEM Windows 98 SE disc.
Some other misc. computer parts from the early 90's (anyone say vintage ISA Sound Blaster that's current-gen graphics card size).
Last month, when I was visiting family, I did pick up some goodies. I'd take pictures but I've lost half of the stuff in moving boxes. :\
- Several Genesis games - $1-2 each
- NASCAR 4 PC - $1
- Two WW2 era vinyls. Not valuable but cool as they have "buy war bonds" logos on them - $1 both
- Complete PS1 w/ some NFL game - $3
- Some other crap but I can't remember nor find anything right now. House is a wreck.
I'm hoping to get back out in a few weeks when I get my tax money in. I'm much closer to a huge flea market now so I'm in good shape for finds this year.

Must, stop, buying games!
That lot of D&D PC games I bought came in, and it even had some extra goodies. Among them was the player manual for AD&D First Edition (Like the actual Pen and Paper game), The clue book for Eye of the Beholder 3, an extra manual for EOTB3, and some Prima guide for a bunch of PC games.
I also added to my Picross addiction early this month, I ordered 4 playstation imports, 3 of them being Logic/Picross games...
Hello Kitty Illust Puzzle
Ochan no Oekaki Logic
Ochan no Oekaki Logic 2
Imadoki no Vampire: Bloody Bride
Bloody Bride is a dating sim/rpg that got a fan translation some time ago. Figured I'd pick it up and try it out.
Ys 7 for PSP dropped to $30 at gamestop, so I tried to get the collectors edition but they couldn't find the game. I was lucky enough for them to give me the box with all the goodies however :D
But then at another gamestop, I found that SMT: Strange Journey had dropped to $15, so I bought that and a sealed copy of Ys 7 Collectors Edition. So I have the goodies for trade bait now.
Lastly, a friend and I were talking about PSP games, and I noticed that Mimana: Iyar Chronicle was pretty cheap on Amazon, so I bought a copy for each of us so we got free shipping, and I also tracked down Hexyz Force at a local store and got each of us a copy of that too.
It's too bad, I was looking at more Picross games on eBay, and Ikari no Yousai 2 (Sequel to Fortified Zone)... can't get them now cause of buying too many games. I spent my game money, on other games.

Had a Gamestop b2g1 free coupon that expired today so I stopped in to see what I could find. I really don't go there much anymore because they got rid of Xbox games, but I was able to find some pseudo-retro goodness:
Space Invaders Extreme 2 (NDS) complete
Capcom Puzzle World (PSP) complete
Namco Collection (PSP) complete
For $22.40 after my GS discount.

Found Time Splitters 2 (GC) for £1.50 today in a charity shop. Rather pleased as this officially pushes me past the 200 games barrier. Also saw an xploder cheats disc for Dreamcast but held off, may go back and get it at some point though.
Non gaming wise I picked up Burn After Reading on DVD for £1. I hear it's very good.
