No, this thread ain't dying like the last one. GET HYPE.
Thinking of getting a hotel room in downtown Milwaukee this time. Return trips to Mader's and Cafe Hollander are a must, also maybe this time I'll actually go to the Safehouse. Maybe spend Friday in Cedarburg....oh yeah, video games.

Gonna be looking for some JPS2 games like Trio The Punch and Garouden Breakblow...and this is the year I will finally buy that Redman faceplate from Kris. I hope.

Even though I made some harsh criticism on last year's show, I'll probably be going again. What can I say, it was a complete change and impending father-dom that got me thinking too hard.
Anyway, I think this would be show #5 for me, I can't recall. Probably won't buy as much this year unless my job situation improves. Anyone know if Dave's gonna have his booth again this year? I'm kinda addicted to picking up his NES hack/homebrew carts he has for sale as I've gotten one the last two years and enjoy the hell out of them.

I am debating how the weekend will work out for me. I had originally planned to spend Saturday and Sunday in Milwaukee, but one of my favorite bands is playing in Appleton on Saturday night. What to do... :|
Also if anyone needs 40 NES controllers (tested, a few being repaired atm) I might be interested in selling. I'll spam looking for a couple inches on a table if I decide to sell (and cut the buyer in on the 2 monies).

Guess it really depends on the vendor. Carlson (Mad Gear Games) has taken some import trade-ins in the past, but I think most are just there to sell.
We've done a game-swap area in the past, but a variety of reasons forced us to abandon the idea.

I'm more than happy to go back to the avatar format if that is the one preferred by the vocal majority (if you don't vote, you can't complain!). It has always made me a bit uncomfortable to keep referring to someone by forum handle after an initial introduction, but as I have no memory for names at all, this seemed like an easy crutch. If you feel strongly about this, one way or the other, sing out...and I'll go with the flow.

Check your spam mail. We seem to have been getting caught in that for people lately.
I know that Gary and I both spoke about finding the quantity of tables that you wanted, and we were seeing what we could do (that was basically the email that was sent). We've expanded the vending area pretty significantly this year, so we *should* still have space -- we had to, as after last year we sold out the same number of tables we had in the entire hall before we even put them on sale! We have *maybe* a handful left now, so if you're interested hurry!
Also, while I'm here a few more things -- sign up for the mailing list for a shot at free tickets to Cinematic Titanic in Milwaukee! And to hear announcements first too -- I'm working through like a million announcements and features right now, it's shaping up to be *quite* the amazing year! Hope to see everyone there!
Oh - and almost missed this -- Thanks for the kind words GAC, the reason why this show has become so good is truly the involvement of SO many people in the community that make it good! It's an honor to be involved with it :)

Dan announced the MGC guest list on the site a few days ago, and I figured it might be helpful to some that are not pinball people (or vice versa) to get a better idea for who's who. Here goes:
Eugene Jarvis - The creator of arcade classics like Defender, Robotron 2084, Cruis'n USA, and the founder of the current arcade developer Raw Thrills. More details about his and Raw Thrills' involvement in the show are incoming.
George Gomez - He's responsible for co-developing several classic arcade games and hardware including Tron, Satan's Hollow and Spy Hunter, as well as co-developing the Pinball 2000 platform and the games Batman and The Lord of the Rings among others.
Jack "Jersey Jack" Guarnieri - Veteran pinball distributor and author, he will be at the show I believe Sunday to talk about his new venture, Jersey Jack Pinball, a company that will specialize in producing premium pinball games such as their upcoming Wizard of Oz game.
Dennis Nordman - Veteran pinball designer responsible for co-designing games like Pirates of the Caribbean, Elvira and the Party Monsters, and the upcoming Wizard of Oz.
Joe Balcer - Veteran pinball designer responsible for co-designing games like The Simpson's Party Pinball, Star Wars Trilogy, and the upcoming Wizard of Oz.
Greg Freres - Veteran pinball artists responsible for games like Medieval Madness, Revenge From Mars, and Monster Bash.
Keith Johnson - Responsible for designing the software behind several pinball classics like Revenge From Mars, The Simpson's Party Pinball, and Lord of the Rings.
Roger Sharpe - Veteran pinball designer responsible for co-designing games like Cyclopes and Global Warfare. He's also well known for helping to legalize pinball before the New York City Council based on his play.
Jeri Ellsworth - Famous designer and electronics hacker best known for her "computer on a chip" design for the TV plug & play Commodore 64 controllers. She will unveil her "As Seen on TV" pinball machine at the show as part of the Pinball Wars exhibit in the BenHeck.com Experience room.
Ben "BenHeck" Heckendorn - Famous designer and electronics hacker best known for his portable game systems, controllers, and even an amateur film maker. He will also have his Bill Paxton Pinball as an entry in Pinball Wars exhibit, as well as a first look at his Lost pinball machine and upcoming "Tesla VS Edison".
Josh Sharpe - President of the World Pinball Player Rankings and an extremely good player in his own right.
Marty Goldberg - Programmer and Designer with Legacy Engineering Group, co-founder of the Midwest Gaming Classic, and my co-organizer in the museum wing of the MGC among other things.
"Trickman" Terry Minnich - Veteran author and Electronic Gaming Monthly alumni, as well as the co-founder of VGEVO which will have a fairly large events room at the show.
Ken "Sushi X" Williams - Also a veteran author and Electronic Gaming Monthly alumni, as well as the co-founder of VGEVO which will again have a fairly large events room at the show.
Ralph Baer - "Father of Video Games" best known for, well, creating this whole video game industry with his "Brown Box" game console. His exact involvement with the show will be announced at a later date.
Jim Schelberg - Veteran author, publisher and editor of the venerable PinGame Journal.
Lloyd Olson - Veteran author and owner/operator of one of the oldest arcades in North America, SS Billiards in Hopkins, Minnesota.
The International Game Developers Association, Wisconsin Chapter (IDGA) - The IDGA will once again hold a meeting at the Midwest Gaming Classic which I believe will mirror the open format they held last year. The IDGA's members include several local video game developers including those at Raven Software.
As it stands now, this is an incomplete list of the special guests at the show. I know that Dan is waiting on a few confirmations yet, so there's likely more to come as well as the panel announcements themselves.
Later.

I don't post here much but I am sure I have met some of you guys at the past 6 shows. I did get a nice Ghouls and Ghosts and Space Harrier from Goodwill Hunter last year IIRC. Looking forward to this one, hopefully they have another cool party again :) See you guys there! - Brian

What is the karaoke looking like this year? I don't know how long/when the Friday tour starts but I would imagine it would pre-empt it at least a little bit. I'm thinking about attending a hockey game Friday night so I didn't want to miss too much of karaoke.

The plan, and I'm still working on all of this but should have final ideas by the end of the week, is that the tour will start somewhere between 8-9am and return gosh knows when (well, I have an idea -- between 5 and 8, got to figure out how long it's spending everywhere now that I know the rest of the details), and MGKaraoke is slated right now to run from 8pm to 1am. It may start a bit earlier, as we're trying to run it more or less parallel to Clock Chaos, which is going to have "start times" this year.
Both Clock Chaos and the Tour are within about a dozen people signing up of selling out, so if you want in, now is the time.
In other news, I had a kidney stone issue (and still have it, argh) that set me back a bit on updating things for the show. Expect this coming week, ESPECIALLY this coming Saturday, to be a week of catching up and lots of new stuff. Announced two more pinball designers yesterday, we're looking at some more video game designers, the actual panel line up, more vendors, some totally new stuff, new rooms, more details and so on. I cannot believe how much we're getting. And it's literally to the point where we may be asking to borrow some *lobby space* to fit it all in. This year is going to be HUGE.
If you haven't already signed up for it, sign up for the MGC Mailing List on the site. Oh, and if you want to follow us on FaceBook, we'll have that up shortly too -- with a Like button on the site and all that fun stuff.
I can't believe how much this show is coming together! Hope to see you all there!

I'll be there again this year. Looking to hopefully finish off my CIB virtual boy collection, get some more SNES games and pick up more arcade stuff. I always have fun at this, and I've been looking forward to it for a while.
