Kind of messed up the box to the controller which is upsetting.

Does anyone know if Goo Gone will mess up the Sopranos box at all?

As the weather begins to warm up after a rough winter, garage sales are finally starting to get back up and going. However, with most of my money going into the PC I'm building, I don't have too much money to get anything too expensive, although I've still had a few finds:

- Tokobot Plus (PS2. Without case, but with the case artwork and registration card in good shape): $5
- Overlord: Raising Hell (PS3. Complete in very good condition): $12

It seemed like every sale I went to this morning had PlayStation games; although, Tokobot was the only one I was interested in, as the rest was old sports games or generic licensed platform games. I've been interested in trying this game for years, so I'll soon see if it's any good...once I can get myself to take a break from Persona 3.

As for Overlord, that came from Game-X-Change. I borrowed my brother-in-law's copy of it a while back and liked it, so I decided to get my own copy once I saw how inexpensive it was

I got this game at the Salvation Army complete a couple weeks ago for $2 and thought nothing of it; outside of the fact I knew I didnt have it. I figured 'meh' another run of the mill flying game. Not until I got home did I realize how hard it was to get.

Good Score sir.

Wow, you trumped me. A toonie (or Jefferson) for this game, damn. And a good score to you too, sir. Personally, I prefer Raiden 1 but Raiden 2 is quite faithful it's just a much more punishing game. I had a few opportunities to get it disc only but settled long-term for complete and with free international shipping, well... QotF is a god-send.

Anime on VHS. So 90's!

All I picked up today were four CDs:
John Coltrane - Original Jazz Classics Collection
Fluke - Progressive History X (promo with a white mark on UPC)
Tom Scott - Night Creatures
Nortec Collective - The Tijuana Sessions Volume 1

Oh yeah, I received a lecture from one of the sellers at the flea market about how Blues music is satanic. Yes, REALLY. I almost smacked the guy on the back of his head.

Tell me about it! I remember seeing this stuff on the shelves of the local Video Rental Shops and it was always either behind the counter, or kept up high so kids couldn't get it. Now it's in Thrift stores sitting on the shelves next to Disney movies...

I don't really collect Manga, but I thought they looked interesting and if anything I can probably put the lot on ebay and sell it off for a very small profit.

Yesterday I hit three flea markets, a thrift store, and a GameXchange store on an out of state drive. Today I spent the morning hitting thrift stores in the surrounding area around Monroe, Louisiana. Both days, came out with nothing. I've really been pounding the pavement, I'm so disappointed that I've come away empty handed. The only thing I considered buying was an old Coleco Zaxxon tabletop that was clearly broken and had been left outside in the weather for who knows how long. No battery door and a lot of rust on what few metal components I could see. If it were one of the other Coleco tabletops, I would have bought it anyway just for the shell so I could hack a Tapwave Zodiac PDA into it for a tiny MAME cabinet.

I've seen Dragon Half and it's pretty funny, I wouldn't call it adult as in Hentai/porn but it's mostly adult type humour. I'm not sure about the other videos as I haven't seen them. Those aren't actually Manga, Manga are comic books.

Twilight Princess GC $7.50
Halo ODST $7.50
Dark Alliance 2 (XBOX) $5

Gex (ps1) $1
Fighting Force (ps1) $1
Rascal (ps1) $1

Sonic X action figures (8inch Knuckles and the big fat cat, 4 inch chris t., and the 2 female characters cant think of their names right now, and a sonic)
16 different green lantern figures mainly from DC direct and PVC collections.
Both sonic and green lantern guys ran me $18, which to my surprise the sonic stuff is selling for a ton on ebay.

Ill try to posts some pics soon.

I went through them last night and didn't watch the whole videos on each, but was more checking for quality of the tapes/anime contained on each and Plastic Little was probably the best "quality" of anime - more detail, darker, etc. Some of the others looked cheaply produced.

I've picked up quite a few things since my last post several months ago...but I found some good stuff today!

Tactics Ogre Guide (PS1) - $5.00
Xenogears Black Label (PS1) CIB - $40.00
Ogre Battle LE (PS1) CIB (including map) - $45.00
Heart of Darkness (PS1) CIB - $10.00
Breath of Fire II (GBA) C - $5.00

I realize I pretty much paid market for the PS1 games, but they are in pristine condition. I've been looking for a solid copy of the black label Xenogears for about 4 years out in the wild so I didn't have an issue with the price.

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr306/THE-1-2-P/GEDC0338.jpg

Little Big Planet Super Book strategy guide 1 cent
Guinness World Records 2011 Gamers edition $6.95
Truth or Lies(360) $4.98
Dance Dancxe Revolution Universe 2(360) $3.00
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Album $3.00
Game Shark 2(PS2) $3.00

LBPSB was obviously pennied out. GWR Gamers edition 2011 was from amazon and Truth or Lies was on clearance at Target. DDR Universe 2, the Buffy album and the Game Shark 2 were all at Goodwill. At first I left the GS2 there(despite it only being $3 and factory sealed) because I wasn't sure if it was one of the rarer ones. After checking at home online I found out that all versions of PS2 game sharks are priced all over the map, from auctions ending at $20 to buy it nows that were purchased for as much as $80. So I went back and picked it up anyway, figuring that it will sell eventually. I also need a mic for Truth or Lies since apparently thats the only you can play it.

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr306/THE-1-2-P/GEDC0335.jpg

Guinness World Records 2010 Gamers Edition $2.15
Sniper Wolf Metal Gear Solid action figure $3.00
Foley Is Good hardcover $2.50
Jewel: A Night Without Armor hardcover $2.50
Bluetooth headset $9.99
Halo Reach Original Soundtrack $9.57
Leeann Womack: I Hope You Dance $3.00
Paula Abdul: Spellbound $3.00
REM: Out of Time $3.00

GWR 2010 Gamers edition and the Halo Reach soundtrack were picked up from amazon, while the books, other cds, bluetooth headset and action figure were all snatched at Goodwill. Neither of the bluetooth headsets(there were two in the package) work so far, despite being synced. So I'm going to call customer service tomorrow and see if they have someway to help them become operatable. The Sniper Wolf figure didn't have a price so I asked a worker how much it cost and she told me $3, which is pretty much their "go-to" price at that store for unmarked items. I'm not sure if its worth much but you rarely see them in the wild these days and I could atleast trade it if it doesn't sell.

PS3 160 gb slim with 3 games(ME2, MVC3, BS) $150

Yes, hell has officially frozen over because I finally got a PS3. I've been alittle obsessed lately after missing out on an 80 gig PS3 with 7 games last week at a yard sale. The craigs list ad just mentioned that there would be an 80 gb PS3 for sale. Not more than 40 minutes after the ad was posted I emailed them asking how much they would be selling it for but I never got a response that night. So you can imagine how pissed I was when I woke up the next afternoon and saw that they responded saying "$80 for just the PS3 or $100 with 7 games". It was sent at 8:30 in the morning, long after I'd already gone to bed. And after checking the listing again, my suspicions were confirmed as the listing had been updated saying that the PS3 had been sold:(

So I had been searching pretty dilegently when I came across a craigs list ad for a six month old 160 gb PS3 slim with 3 games(Mass Effect 2, Bulletstorm and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3) and a 32 inch hd tv all for $350. I wrote the seller on Saturday and asked how much he would want for just the PS3 and games. When I woke up on Sunday he had already got back to me, saying he would prefer to sell them both(even lowering the price to $275) but that he would take $150 for just the PS3 lot. That was already a good deal alone but after I sell the games(since I play all third party mutiplatform games on my 360) it would be an even better deal and make the PS3 end up being around $30 or so. Plus, why have one system(the Wii) sitting around collecting dust when you can have two systems doing that.

When I got there he had the PS3 set up so I could try it out. I played Bulletstorm just to make sure everything works. However, when I got home all I kept getting was a black screen. I knew it worked since I had tested it at his house and I obviously know how to hook up a console but despite the system powering on I couldn't get a picture in either hdmi mode or standard a/v. Just to make sure I wasn't going insane I checked online(as opposed to bothering you guys by making a thread although there will be plenty of that later for other reasons) to see if this was a common problem. Um...try searching PS3 hdmi connection problems on google. Not only are there tons of topics and youtube videos but theres also more than one hdmi problem. And my problem wasn't the most common occurance so I had to dig deeper. After searching thru forums for over a half hour and being on hold with Sony customer service until my hand went numb I found a solution in one of the forums, stating I should do a hard reset while having both hdmi and a/v connected and then resetting the connection settings. It sucked that I had to go thru all of that(and I'm obviously not alone) but everything is running smoothly now.

I've only played one game on my PS3 and that was Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. I only played it because it's the only game that me and my friend both have on PS3 and it gave us something to play together online. And boy did she kick my ass. Show off:p Anyway, the PS3 is a nice little piece of hardware but it won't be replacing my 360 game time. I'm basically going to use it just to play exclusives.

Oobgarm
03-23-2011, 08:27 AM
Yup, I've dealt with that hard reset myself. Thought I'd screwed up my system. Good find on that PS3, though.

I've got a PS3 on the way with 18 games for $250. No idea what the games are or what model of system, but I think it'll be a decent deal when I get the final details. I'm fairly certain it's a 40GB and the games are older titles with some sports mixed in. Just gonna use the system as a movie player anyways.

I did manage to snag a copy of Yakuza 2 from GameStop yesterday for $16.99, complete. I was pretty happy about that, considering they often go for close to $30. I also snagged Shinobi and The Getaway for $5 total since I didn't have them.

Turns out the 18 games are a mix of PS2 and PS3, unfortunately. But all are in pristine condition, so I guess that counts for something.

PS3:
Call of Duty 4
Tiger Woods 08
Madden 10
GTA IV
Resistance

PS2:
ESPN 2K5
Tiger Woods 07
GTA III
GTA Vice City
GTA San Andreas (original release)
MGS 2
MGS 3
Red Faction II
Tony Hawk 3
Smackdown Just Bring It
Smackdown Here Comes the Pain
Smackdown vs Raw 2006

I'm told that the PS3 is backwards compat, but I'm not 100% sure which model it is. Still waiting on that info.

I think $250 for a system with 2 controllers and this mediocre pile of games is a decent buy, nothing spectacular.

Oobgarm, on the back of the PS3 should be a model number. This will help you tell what version of the PS3 you have as you can just look at this site: http://www.hardcoreware.net/playstation-3-model-guide/.

An easy way to tell if you have a 40GB PS3 is if it does not have a slot for memory cards on the front and only has 2 USB Ports. The memory card slots are underneath a cover.

Yesterday I went on a fact-finding mission on this weekend's release of the 3DS, including trips to three local game stores and a Gamestop. At the Gamestop I spotted a game I've been looking for but couldn't find:

Hyperdimension Neptunia (PS3) - Collectors Edition (full price, new)

For anyone who gets the RFGeneration Nation podcast, you'll remember this title as the game where the characters represent the 3 major consoles as they battle a common enemy known as R4. It's an RPG where you assume the role of the consoles, enlist characters from classic games for their powers and your upgrades come in the form of peripherals and hardware updates. I haven't gotten to open it up yet, as I got it late yesterday, but I'm hoping to get started on it today!

I know this isn't really a "find" since it's a brand new game, but most of my local GS's did not receive ANY, and this was the only one at this particular location. So, it did actually take a little work to find it, thus a "find."

You don't have to type out an essay justifying a retail purchase as a find. Lot's of people here (myself included) will post retail pick ups from time to time. It's no big deal.

I have seen a couple of sealed copies go for $70-$85 in the past year. Basically, people are after the included documentary which comes with the game. As near as I can tell, the game itself is the same as the Sega CD release despite claims that it's "uncensored". For a complete copy in nice shape, you could probably get $30-$50 depending on who is looking at that point.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure it out. I look it up on Youtube, and I see five year olds solving it in fifteen seconds. @_@

Once you get the pattern down (I have to remember it all over again each time I mess with it), you'll have an "Ah-ha!" moment.

It's rare to find non-sports Saturn games at the local used game stores these days. I usually pick up whatever they have. A few months ago it was so bad I actually bought Street Fighter: The Movie.

In other news, someone must have dumped their Xbox collection there because the store is full of mint Xbox games. Beautiful cases, manuals, discs...and the store owners know it. They're charging accordingly. I saw a nice GTA: San Andreas for $19.99 today. I don't think so.

You don't have to type out an essay justifying a retail purchase as a find. Lot's of people here (myself included) will post retail pick ups from time to time. It's no big deal.

Wow, really? One sentence is an essay these days? My how times have changed...

I literally just picked this up yesterday. Now I'm waiting until Def Jam Rapstar drops under $12.48. My Target has like 5-6 copies for 360 anyway. Also, the games on clearance never move fast in these stores.

At one of my Best Buys they are selling a High School Musical bundle that includes a wired mic for $8.99. When I saw this a few weeks ago I thought about picking it up just for the mic but I passed since I didn't have any games(at the time) that needed it. Although I would rather have a wireless mic I'll probably go back and pick it up anyway.

That's actually a great idea. When people used to come in looking for microphones long after we stopped selling them, we offered those cheap games as a substitute. I really enjoyed telling people they could just buy the bundle and throw the game in the trash. LOL

Three things today:

Quickbooks Simple Start 2007 (new in box) - $1
Count Boogie - Nerd Music (new) - $2
Count Boogie - Acoustic History of Nerd Heartbreak (new) - $2

I got those two CDs on a whim since they looked interesting. It wasn't until I got home that things got... weird. I looked up the guy online (http://www.countboogie.com/) and in a nutshell:

* He was a fairly popular Christian artist for ten years or so.
* He lived off his van for 4 years.
* He has a massage business now in the bay area.
* ... and he also has a page devoted to the S&M "lifestyle" and even has videos explaining it on Youtube. O_o

I already have about 4 Mics. One came with Disney Sing It!, American Idol something or other 2, Rock Band, and maybe one other game. Which Is why I don't want to pay 12.48 for another game with a mic. hahah. I don't get why they didn't bundle Truth or Lies with a mic if it requires one though.

I've been on vacation this week, and all of my out of town thrift store shopping has turned up diddly squat. So on the way home I decided to drive down a million little country roads and hit some GameXchange stores that were completely and totally well out of my way. The last two stores had some good stuff.

http://i414.photobucket.com/albums/pp222/StevePW/Yesterdaysfinds.jpg

H.E.R.O., Frogger II: Threeedeep!, Dreadnaught Factor, and an unlabeled Parker Bros. Atari 5200 cart, $2.95 at buy 3 get 1 free. And the 5200 joystick came from there, still with the red plastic sheet covering the aluminum strip (my first working 5200 had two of these, turns out they were final production run models and have never had any problems, I'm hoping this one will be the same run) for $1.95.

Next store had Mega Bomberman for $3.95, Zombies Ate My Neighbors for $1.95, Virtual On for the Saturn for $7.95, the Super Pro Football for the Intellivision for free (buy 3 get one free), the Turbo Touch 360 controller for $1.95, and the WICO brand Black Max joystick for $1.95.

I was glad to come across some finds on the drive home, but I was so burnt out and tired since it made a 5 hour drive stretch out to 11 hours, I've decided never to do something like that again.

Not much today:

$1 for the sports dreamcast controller
$3 for the apple hockey puck PS
$13 for the robotics kit, still sealed - have to see if it's worth anything, not sure if that's an apple II in the picture

When TRU marked down all the PS2 microphone bundle copies of Boogie to $1.98 I bought them all (during a buy one get one half off sale), removed the microphones, and then traded them back the games for $2.25 credit. My siblings and their friends needed replacement Rock Band microphones so it worked out great. LOL

I found a handful of nice finds:

Final Fantasy VII for $2.99 (CIB, GH Version) - One of my local game shops still gives decent credit for this game. So I plan on trading it in the next time I'm there.

Tales of the Tempest for $15.00 (Missing manual) - I found this through a local Craigslist ad. Yes, I know it's considered the "black sheep" of the Tales franchise. But for the price I paid, I think I'll still get some fun out of it. If nothing else, it'll make a nice addition to my "Tales" collection.

Final Fantasy X Strategy Guide for $1.99

Hyperdimension Neptunia (PS3) - Collectors Edition (full price, new)

I bought that a few weeks back. It's gameplay has some odd quirks (You'll most often hear people complain about the item system), but I've enjoyed it so far; it's a solid RPG

Found some Apple software for reselling that cost way more than I wanted to pay for it.

I also found an Agetec Dreamcast stick with a third party memory card in great shape for $10. That's going to eBay.

Oh ok. I'm still working on getting my first mic. My Targets also have Def Jam Rapstar currectly marked at $24.98. Once it drops I'll probably be picking that one up as well.

As for Truth or Lies, the Wii version was definitely bundled with a mic. I think the 360 and PS3 versions were too but perhaps all three versions came without the mic as well. I'm pretty sure I saw a bundled mic 360 version before.

An addition to the mini arcade.

$3.99 each at TRU on sale half off from the clearance price. They're little banks and when you put a quarter inside they light up and make sound. The fortune teller's crystal ball lights up and it plays like a little Arabian tune and he tells a fortune. The one with the eye is like a magic 8 ball, it gives yes or no responses. My favorite ones on there are when the eye needs to ponder further and asks if you have another coin. LOL Each one has about a dozen different things it says. The $20 or so they were selling for when they came in back in November was a little steep but at $4 a pop I couldn't pass them up.

Actually only the Wii version was bundled with a mic and there was also a game only version for the Wii. There was never a 360 or PS3 mic bundle for Truth or Lies, at least not in the US.

Yep, Palestine. I also stopped off at the Nacogdoches and Lufkin locations. Lufkin didn't have anything good but the Nacogdoches one did, thankfully. Otherwise the huge expense in time and fuel to go that crazy far away from Interstate 20 wouldn't have been worth it.

By the way, are there any other stores in town that have classic games in them? There's the possibility that I might pass through town again in two or three months, so I'd love to know.

There's one thrift store downtown that I've had some pretty good luck with in the past (A lot more than at Goodwill), and I occasionally find some decent stuff at the two pawn shops (Although, they rarely get anything older than PS2 in). For the most part, going to garage sales is your best bet; that's where I've made a lot of my better finds.

Hey; maybe we'll unknowingly run into each other sometime
Who knows, it's happened to me before. Either I'll recognize someone that I've probably met before at a classic gaming convention, or I'll strike up a conversation (not easy for me, with me being slightly less sociable than your average old-school James Bond villain) while looking over the shelves of a store with someone else checking out the same games. I met jeffg that way.

Day before yesterday I bought six Odyssey2 games, boxed and mostly complete (some don't have catalogs), for $1.91 each. I keep meaning to take a picture but constantly forget to. None of the games are rare, it's just I don't have them boxed and in good shape. Pick Axe Pete, War Of Nerves, UFO, and Slot Machine are four of them, can't remember the other two and don't feel like checking.
