I don't, that's the thing. I'm using a Mac, and I'm pretty sure I don't have somewhere to hook that up. Modern laptops (PC or Mac) probably wouldn't have that either.

I only grabbed one thing this weekend. My local Target had Iron Man 2 for the PS3 for $5. For some reason I just can't pass up a PS3 game for $5.

Have you tried just using Wine? I don't know why it would work and Crossover wouldn't, but it is worth a shot.

Scored an awesome lot on Craigslist today. The seller actually has had this listed for a few weeks but started the price at like $80 (rightfully so). Howeve,r the other day he dropped his price all the way down to $40
Couldn't pass this up!

I own most of these games already and each one of these were in better condition than my own....these games are like gem mint, no joke. All the guides have little to no wear as well.

From what I can gather, it's pretty much a comic involving Ash going to Xena's dimension to stop Evil Ash from destroying that world. The copy I have is the first issue.

And it is awesome ! I have most of the Army of Darkness comics (yes, even "Ash saves Obama") and the Xena ones are some of the most funny ones.

No dice, unfortunately. It doesn't launch with an error coming from one of the game's DLLs. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Not the first issue, the first volume. That looks like a trade paperback to me. There's two Army of Darkness Vs Xena series, not to mention the loads of other Army of Darkness spinoffs. Namely, Marvel Zombies, Re-Animator, and Freddy Vs Jason Vs Army of Darkness... among other series. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_of_Darkness_(comics))

I really hated the Re-Animator one because they didn't use Jeffrey Combs' version of Herbert West. :(

Anyway, today's finds:

I walked into Goodwill and came across these games:

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr306/THE-1-2-P/GEDC0385.jpg

Perfect Dark(N64) $2
Mario Tennis(N64) $2
Mario Party(N64) $2
Mario Party 2(N64) $2
Banjo-Kazooie(N64) $2
Yoshi Story(N64) $2
Diddy Kong Racing(N64) $2

All from Goodwill and all marked with that horroible "2-" in permenant marker. Had that been all I found today then I could have said it was a good day. But then I went to a thrift shop(that usually doesn't have shit) and found these:

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr306/THE-1-2-P/GEDC0395.jpg

Nes Lot

World Cup
NFL
The Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet
Vegas Dream
Super Jeopardy
Robocop
The Karate Kid

$3.93 for this lot although I only really got it for Zelda. Don't think I'll get much interest for the rest. And then they had this weird lot:

Snes/N64 lot

Snes console
WWF Royal Rumble(Snes)
Super Mario Kart(Snes)
Donkey Kong 64(N64)
Mario Party 2(N64)
Rampage: World Tour(N64)
Super Smash Bros(N64)
Mario Tennis(N64)
Mario Party(N64)

$14.14 for the lot. The Snes is discolored and will not be staying in my collection(my Snes 2 is much cooler). They also had a PS3 sisaxis controller for 99 cents. Too bad they didn't have the original PS3 that went along with that.

I find it weird as hell that I found two copies of Mario Party, Mario Party 2 and Mario Tennis in one day. One was at a thrift and the other was at Goodwill but this has happened to me a few times before when going to different Goodwills in the same day(like finding copies of Final Fantasy 1 in multiple locations).

This is also the first ever copy of Super Mario Kart I have ever found in the wild. I've found plenty of the N64 and Gamecube versions but never the original. I might have to keep that one just for the hell of it.

A lot of people post their retail finds, too, so should they stop posting them? I sure as hell don't think so. A find is a find, gaming or not, whether it was in a flea market, craigslist or store. And I like to show off the weird stuff I always end up getting, even if it's not a game. Other people feel the same way.

In fact, this is probably the second time anyone's complained about these posts... so. I dunno. Nobody really minds, so I keep doing it.

A small but unusual find. CIB Knuckles Chaotix! @_@

Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 was $2, looks complete with all 3 discs. The 32X games were 99c each.

JR. MOD ALERT! JR. MOD ALERT! JR. MOD ALERT! It's called "Finds" as a lot of us go out on the hunt for games and find other interesting things along the way.

Saved a few guides from heading to the trash as it was defect destroy day...

Metroid Prime Trilogy
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Zelda Spirit Tracks hardbound (x2)
Ghostbusters The Video Game

The top two are for my brother who will get some use out of them. I'll find something to do with the Zelda guides and the Ghostbusters one is for me. A few hundred guides went to the trash, I can't save them all.

Cool story, bro. It all works out, to be honest. Every time I see a Herb Alpert CD listed in the finds thread, it just equates to one less time a month that I visit the website. I understand that you tend to run out of gaming material to talk about after 10 years, but polluting what is supposed to be a thread about gaming finds with irrelevant shit like swing music daily is a prime example of doing it wrong.

For every $15 Phoenix Wright game I find at the Paducah Gamestop, the universe balances itself out with someone finding "Bruce Campbell Sings in the Shower!" at a yard sale in Lubbock.

P.S. not sure if that CD actually exists...would totally listen to it if it did

I also have to add that I like to see what kind of offbeat music Kitsune picks up. It's even inspired me to check out the CD racks in thrifts a little bit more. I never find the sheer amount of batguano crazy music that he does, though.

Today I bought a Q*Bert board game for $1.99 (in the same store I bought another Q*Bert game months back, oddly) and a Ms. Pac-Man board game for $3.99. I hit a Play N' Trade and bought Spacechase and Final Approach (Atari 2600, loose) for $1.79 each and a loose Tempo Jr. for the Game Gear for $6.99. Whenever I come across a Spacechase in the wild, I feel the need to pick it up if its cheap, since there's a million-to-one chance that it might be one of the rare monogrammed ones.

I'm surprised that nobody has read the sticky about the finds threads...

Welcome to 'What's It Worth?'! DP's one stop shop where you can find out what something is worth, as well as show off your finds! Need to know what that game you've got collecting dust is worth so you can maximize teh profits? Make a thread, be as descriptive as possible and let the answers come in. Finds don't have to be limited to games, as DVD/CD/Vinyl/Electronic finds are often posted, but please keep those finds in the monthly finds thread.

JR. MOD ALERT! JR. MOD ALERT! JR. MOD ALERT! It's called "Finds" as a lot of us go out on the hunt for games and find other interesting things along the way.

I realize you're being facetious but I can understand Carey85's sentiment to a point. I should preface this by saying I've no issue with KS at all, in fact I think he's aces as a trader/salesman (and the fact we share the same birthday doesn't hurt :ass:). However, there are times where I "dread" clicking on this thread because I know I'm going to have to scroll through a bunch of pics of crap I don't much care about, namely music CDs. I realize KS posted a "fix" to such a thing but I think that's an obtuse solution as there are times when he and other people who post non-gaming finds do show off something they found that is neat. More on this later...

Fucking owned.

Ehl Oh Ehl. Hardly.

This is a find thread

for Games, Music, Toys ect

Kitsune could post anything he wants

You are correct sir. Under the provisions highlighted in the sticky, he and others most certainly can post finds that are non-gaming (so long as it falls into the parameters PapaStu listed). I can't speak for anyone else but it can get a little annoying at times wading through a bunch of posts about stuff I don't care about to see pics of gaming finds. It's not the end of the world I assure you but it can get annoying.

I've read it and I don't really have a problem with it but I sometimes wish there were two separate threads at times, one strictly for gaming-related finds and acquisitions (I had to include that because I love ScourDX's posts and most of his finds are store bought :)) and one for all other finds. For gaming related finds, if someone posted a pic of DVDs for The Super Mario Bros. Super Show or CD soundtracks from games, that would be perfectly okay but if it was something like a Barry Manilow record or a CD soundtrack to the movie Ishtar...eh, I'd rather it be posted in a different thread. That way if I decide to indulge in the oddity of such things I can. Given the current set up though, more often that not I tend to scroll past such things in the current finds threads and that sometimes includes pics of gaming stuff that just happened to be found with said items I've no interest in. :|

Again, this isn't an attack or anything on those who post a lot of non-gaming finds so please do your best to not interpret it as such. It's merely a case where the opportunity arose to voice my opinion on the matter and I'm fairly certain the status quo will remain as such.

Be a douchebag about it, and I won't listen to you. But if you're polite? Then I'll listen.

I'll probably just mention them in text, not pictures - or just link to the picture of the CDs to save space in the thread. Like today, I only found two music CDs, and I wasn't planning on mentioning them or making a post about it. I didn't find anything particularly interesting or weird, anyway.

Is that okay?

seriously, I understand this is the internet and we're all sensitive and made of glass,

ks, don't change how you post.
couple people who are butt hurt? it takes 2 seconds to scroll past a few pictures, fucking deal with it! its not hard!, Its not th 90s where we're all on dialup and it doesn't take 5 minutes to load a single jpeg.

I am not a big fan of modern gaming "finds" that people buy new at gamestop, I could care less, but you know I just scroll past those posts and look at all the other stuff and comment on interesting things nowadays.

The variety of what differnt people find in this thread is half the fun of it all,it'd get pretty boring if it was all "wow i found god of war for 30 cents less than it usualy is heres a picture!"

*gets off his soap box and runs off to go find stuff at thrift stores*

Apart from the fact that i don't really care about this thread A LOT, i find it kinda not cool when ppl post rubbish and cables.. and some playstation keypads and elephant poop for 2$.. and.....
It's always interesting to see when ppl find rare stuff in the wild, like a snatcher for 1$ and something like that. But casual stuff which hardly even worth 1$. Well , not for me i guess :)

We seem to have this argument once every year, and it always ends the same way. The finds thread is what it is. There's nothing in particular that's accomplished by making it strictly games-only, and there's nothing lost by allowing the other random finds. The finds thread is where we talk about what we found at the thrift or flea while looking for games. It's not a gaming price-guide research project or anything that specific.

If we can't agree on that, then maybe we need more specific rules for the finds thread.

I find it hard to masturbate to this thread anymore. :( I SAY KITSUNE DOES WHAT HE WANTS AND EVERYONE ELSE CAN BACK OFF. If he wants to post pictures of any cd he buys fine. You can post about anything you find as well, so if you just bought a ton of new butt plugs and dildos(obviously something is stuck up there) then post away! IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FINDS MAN.

Maybe somewhat frowned on to go too away from gaming as it defeats the topic's point. Still it's clear it isn't a problem now. Most users know the kinds of items others here care about which forms an informal consensus on what to post. CDs, DVDs, comics/manga, and home theater items I can understand. Groceries or whatever would be just goofy. If harmlessly off topic.

How absurd.Who are you to decide what constitutes a find. Someone may consider a loose Mario/Duck Hunt a find if they don't have one. The thread would only be updated 2 or 3 times a week if it were limited to "rare finds" like Snatcher or Earthbounds for a 1$.

The thread is about seeing what interesting stuff is being found by other thrift store and flea market junkies in other parts of the country/world.
If someone wants to post CDs or DVDs or records or electronics the rules allow it and I welcome it. Keep it up Kitsume.

Agreed. I always thought this thread was to build on the camaraderie among those that are out on the hunt, walking their beats for games and the other things they find interesting along the way. A "find" is different things to different people. Purchase a copy of a hard to find game at Gamestop? That's a find! Score a killer deal on eBay? That's a find! Acquire something you've wanted for years and finally bit the bullet and bought it? That's a find!

As has been said in the last few posts here before this one, part of these monthly finds threads is about seeing what's out there, what we find and what we pass up while on the hunt. The random craziness of flea markets and thrifts (and the additional oddities found there) is one of the reasons I still go to them, personally.

If you're going to try to split and narc out posts here then you could say the Exertainment fitness bike found last month shouldn't be here since it's technically exercise equipment.

Good gravy, I go away for an evening or two and look at what happens.

This. With bolded emphasis by me.

This very same argument came up last year and thats why I created the 'rules' sticky.

I'm all for alternative suggestions on splitting threads i.e. games vs non games, but in the time that my sticky was made, nary a person has made one comment, even though I left the sticky open to posting. So I can't help but think that people either got 'it', or just didn't give a fuck.

I've stated before, I could go and post all my 'finds' but I don't think that most people really care to see my weekly swings into GameStop for MOAR DS, or the fanciful clickings I did to wrangle something off Amazon, though I pwn that 'add to card' button like a fucking champ. I don't go out into the great wild of the thrifts or work my way through Craig's List looking for the next killer deal.

Personally i'm not high on the cd's and non-gamey stuff, but as said, if you feel it's a find and want to take the time to post it, then it's your perogative. I've seen some interesting toy finds, some interesting electronics finds and even a few interesting random trinket finds in these threads over the years.

Now thats not to say that you might not want to think about just leaving links for the pics of random non-gaming trinkets along with your write up, instead of a pic of item X but again, we're not at that point yet where i've gone and modified 'The Rules' of the monthly finds thread to make it the law of the land.

So for now, lets keep the +1's out of this thread, and if we've got comments to make, put them in the rules thread, so that the discussion can be kept there away from the finds.

we're all in agreement yes? good!

GAME ON!

did some thrifting this morning and came home fairly happy:

I forgot how much i love collectable card games, and opening all these boxes was loads of fun.

I generally hate ddr games, but I felt I should add the konami mix to my collection (don't even think I have a dance pad for any system)
The little enterprise is made of metal and is very heavy. i'm going to go and dig through those cards some more :-)

This.
And this.

I also don't care for the music finds, but I just scroll past them. It's not really affecting my life on a daily basis. However, I love the computer finds as a way of teaching me what is secretly valuable.

At least that exercise bike is in some way related to video games which I'm pretty sure what this website is all about. Game soundtracks? Fine by me. Barry Manilow (example)...not very game related.

Heir to the Empire is a freakin' amazing book, part of an even more amazing series. I met Timothy Zahn a few years back and got my copies of Heir and Dark Force Rising signed, he's a really great author. If you like that book, definitely read the next two. I'd equate them to what Star Wars 7, 8, and 9 would be if they were made. Simply fantastic.

oh its one of my favorate book series, when I moved out to vegas I had to leave my books behind, I was pretty happy to find it again (I plan on re-reading it and re-aquring the other two), its one of the things (the card game as well) that really re-invigored star wars for mde again in the early 90s.
