So, What are the worst games you've ever played? I Say it because i had a simaliar post not too long ago called "What are the hardest games you've played?" and there are some connections. Pretty sure this topic has come up before but, Let's see what you guys think.

Hakai-Oh: King of Crusher.
This game is an utter spectacle. It's so awful, that it's really worth playing in order to see just how bad a game can be. It must have been deliberate. There's no other rational explanation.

I can't decide, but I've played a few games I didn't think were that great. Anime-based fighting games, half the stuff on the Taito Legends collections, System Shock 2 (my apologies in advance but I honestly don't see why that game is so beloved), and so many more.
Most of the games I play tend to have some sort of redeeming value even if they're not great, though.

I must play this. :)
I'll add my vote for Bubsy 3D. I wasted a weekend rental on this (and using the word waste is even being too kind). Easily one of the worst games ever that actually had some production values. Terrible graphics, annoying sound and voice, and the fact that a tank is more agile than Bubsy = pure ****.
However, I think we need a horrible games that you love thread. I <3 Revolution X.

King Arthur and the Knights of Justice for the SNES.
The pits.
I would rather get a root canal whilst simultaneously getting a prostate exam than play this turkey again. Only game (other than dupes) that I have ever traded in.

The Rocketeer (SNES). They should of just went with a graphical upgrade of the NES version. This "game" (along with Total Recall and Adventures of Dino-Riki) are the only ones I ever took back to the rental place the same day and exchanged them for something better.

The ineffectual cane in Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde for the NES serves a perfect synecdoche for that mind-blowingly horrible game. Why? Why?? Why?!!!?!? The game is so devoid of fun and purpose that it feels like an art game trying to inflict some of its creators misery upon its audience. I could describe the game but I think it's best to experience this crap firsthand with a controller in your hand. Despite the AVGN's warning about this game, I believe that this game is so bad that it is worth experiencing- kinda like how some people want to be tazered to know what it feels like.

to be truthfully honest it would be E.T for the Atari 2600
and i am not saying that because all your publications say its the worst blah blah blah
But i honestly have never played a game worse then that game.
Its the only game i ever played with intent on sitting through it and beating it and turning it off about 10 minutes later cause i couldn't figure out what the hell i was doing. Pit after pit after pit after pit. what is this.. I don't remember et falling into this many pits... The moon has less craters then this game! this game sucks *turns atari off*

Agreed. Even back when I was a kid and didn't know that much about game quality this game stuck out as not only being bad but being the worst game ever at that time. Another recently played horrible game was Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes. Get ready to die falling....alot. And I hope you like semi-responsive controls because thats all you get here.

i guess my signature picture doesn't show here displaying what i own..
i own about 60 atari 2600 games (which i don't own ET but played it via of a cousin of mine back when i was younger.). Played a majority of them.
I own over 100 NES games. played alot before i did this whole collecting so some of my child hood games i don't own.. just more so played through relatives and friends and such. Which most of the games (except for the stupidly rare ones) that AVGN reviews for the NES i own (what happens when you buy stuff in bulk i guess. you get alot of bad apples with your golden eggs haha)
which thats not saying i got a bigger E-Penis then the next person... its just stating its not like i own 1 of each and then base my opinion from that
Yea i guess i haven't played any classic games to compare to.
And my review i state about the game is from memory of me from when i was about 7 or 8 years old. I didn't read video game publications and G4 didn't exist. So outside from what i had for games at the time i didn't know what was good what was bad or anything. But yet that game.. That one game stood out as clear as filtered water.

This is actually kinda hard, I can't really think of too many just outright bad games that I've played. I guess I just don't dwell on them much.
My vote has to go for Dark Castle on the Sega Genesis.
The AVGN brought this memory back up and it probably is the worst game I've ever played that I can recal.

NoooooOOOOOOOOO! lol its one of my favourite Atari 2600 games,i think 3D Tic-Tac-Toe and some of the Atari 2600 sport and board game titles like Atari Soccer,Bowling, etc are trash even back in the day. After playing these you realise there is little wrong with E.T and Pacman they were just rushed productions.

This is a pretty recent discovery, but I'd have to vote for Castelian/Tower Toppler on the NES/C64 respectively. Inaccurate "Rotating graphics" be damned, this game is a turd.
What were the devs thinking?
"Let's give zero indication of when a floor tile will give way!"
"Let's make the NES version only use 1 button, even though there are two on the controller!"
"Let's give the game an unreasonably short time limit!"
HULK SMASH.

I'm trying to remember the name of a first-person shooter for Saturn that was only released in Japan. I bought it back in 1998 because it was pretty cheap at a local store, and I'd never heard of it at all. I don't know if it was the worst game I've ever played, but it was close.

It's hard to answer this thread, because if a game is truly that horrible, I probably take it out after 5 minutes of playing and totally forget that I ever played it.
I'll put a spin on this thread and ask, "What's the worst game you've ever finished?" For me, probably Zelda Phantom Hourglass on DS. It was so repetitive and quite annoying, yet I felt compelled to finish it since I was a Zelda fan.
Otherwise, nothing really comes to mind.

I know the SNES pretty well so I will stick with that.
Here are some gutter-trash games that really stand out:
Bebe's Kids: HORRIBLE brawler that has to be seen to be believed.
Race Drivin: Amazingly bad, this game has a course you cannot even finish
Pit Fighter: The WORST game I have ever played, bar none. Utterly broken in every way.
Captain Novolin. A game where you play as a diabetic superhero and must avoid bad junk food or die. Funny, though
RapJam: Volume 1: Terrible basketball sim from the makers of Bebe's Kids.
Obitus: Abysmal D and D ripoff effort. Worst RPG on the system
Mario is Missing: Boring educational game starring luigi.
Revolution X: Laugh out loud funny! Play it even though it is bad!
Waynes World: Great game: NOT!!!
Super Noah's Ark 3D: Funny but flawed shooter by the developer who brought you Bible Games.
All of these are pretty bad. I had to suffer through all of them!

I do not think so, every time someone says Deadly towers is the worst game ever a few people with defend it. I hated it , but I just thought that was because I sucked at it.
People hate Deadly Towers because it's hard. It probably requires that you get out your graph paper. If the game had auto-mapping it might be seen as a bit repetetive but not unplayable. It's not perfect, and the difficulty when starting the game is a bit extreme, but it's actually got good music and cool visuals for the era.
I grew to love the game when I was a kid by using a cheat code: start the game and kill yourself. Push start to go to the password enter screen. Change the first 2 letters of the password to "FE" or "EF" and hit start. The game will start you with the best armor, swords and gauntlets. You can therefore skip the "searching for items and armor" segment of the game and go straight to the towers.
If you do this, you may find something to enjoy in it.
Adding to the list of worst games:
-Bokosuka Wars for the Famicom--so visually and aurally repugnant that the game becomes a chore to play just to put up with the horrendous audio. And it's not fun. The game over screen is hilarious, however.
-Impossible Mission for the Atari 7800--the game is broken and is missing items in the U.S. release, so it can't be finished. But they published it anyway, and didn't revise it. Europe got a working version.
-Strider for the SMS--When this came out I remember Gamepro raving about what a great port it was. They gave it a REALLY high score if I remember. The truth is, it's absolute shit. The character movement is so sluggish and the collision detection is so dodgy it's almost unplayable. And the music is just nauseating. Most SMS games that arrived on the scene after the Genesis caught on are really shitty, rushed ports. There's not reason to really play any of them becuase there's always a better Genesis version. It's just too bad because in the first few years the SMS had some great games that looked awesome.

I've never played the actual cart, but tested this out on a friend's ROM-filled Xbox. So I'd go along with this as worst.
However, if I were counting only games I'd legitimately played, Suzuka 8 Hours on SNES gets the honor of worst game. Ugly mode 7 effects, simplistic backgrounds, terrible sound and wonky gameplay. I rented this and spent less than 5 minutes on it before tossing it aside for the rest of the rental period.

I've maintained an intense hatred for Amagon on NES for decades now. I simply could not/cannot stand the game and found it beyond stupid. I've gotten more enjoyment from playing Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game (which isn't that bad :ass:).
The DS version of Bust-A-Move is pretty terrible IMO. I thought it silly that I had to use the stylus to play and the cannon was replaced with a quasi-slingshot. I don't understand why motion controls HAVE to be implement just because it's on a system that uses a stylus. Games like Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ and Underwater Attack would have been fine if they DIDN'T have special controls.

Ikki for the Famicom is fairly bad. For starters, you have to press your farmer character to the very edge of the screen to move him, giving you no idea of where you are going. Pure kusoge (Japanese for "shit game"). Even if enemies didn't pop out of nowhere on occasion, killing you without giving you the slimmest chance of avoiding their shurikens, you would grow so bored of collecting coins that you'd wish they would go ahead and end your turn as cheaply as they could.

King Arthur and the Knights of Justice on Super NES. Horrid.
Data East's Werewolf on NES is another one. They even switched around the attack and jump buttons, brilliant...

Drakkhen is a great example of how good atmosphere and music can save a mediocre game. I love Drakkhen both for the creepy atmosphere and the fairly fun and unique gameplay. It's got issues, sure, but if you know what you're doing it's very playable and interesting. Parts of that game still put chills down my spine. Oddly enough, the Amiga version doesn't have any music and totally lacks the charm, as such.
And I'll defend Last Battle as well. It's so quotable. "I serve the Duke." "What kind of being is Duke?" Or my favorite: "Arzakh, save the world!" "I will save the world!"

people at work convinced me to try one of their girly first person shooters, I played battle field 3 for 33 seconds, died 3 times, seriously the least fun gaming experience I ever had.
seconded only by my unfortuante time trying to play panzer dragoon on the saturn, which has been officially renamed "unfun triangle shooter dragoon" by my then group of friends.
OH NO LOOK OUT THE BLUE TRIANGLE THING IS SHOOTING AT YOU!!!!
