I dunno, considering a similar model (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item3a71a27ba9&item=251014577065&nma=true&pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&rt=nc&si=2fhHH8w74SDTvG9VRD6mzLuaYtA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc) only sold for $20...
I decided to throw it up for a $100. If it bites, cool, if not, well it's a nice piece of nostalgia. Might track down or rig up an AC adapter and use it to record stuff with. Either way, I don't mind blowing $10 on something that cool, old, and useless in today's world. Might even try to see if I can rig the lens to something else, such as a digital camera.
Ebay is awful for pricing pro-grade or vintage video equipment. I learned that when I bought a VDR-V1000a Laserdisc Recorder, mine cost me $100, the one on Ebay was $5000 (I think the guy pulled it after the a price hike to $8000) The real value was about 1000 euros at the time (2 years ago). Ebay invariably runs too high or low.
It depends. I've bought old vintage video and audio equipment in the past (pretty cheap stuff, not high-end) and have done well with it. $30 for a school quality duplicator, $30 for some shitty Panasonic camcorder VCR module, and some other things. You just have to find someone that wants it badly enough. Same thing with blank cassette tapes. I can get $10-20 for a pack (five) of those easily if they're the right kind. Might be price gouging a bit but if people are willing to pay, who am I to stop them?
I haven't been out because I've been rather sick the past two days. Going to have to tough it out tomorrow for several yard sales, an estate sale, and a storage auction sale at 11am. Doubt I'll find any games though. Oh yea, that does remind me. I picked up an "AS-IS" Sega CD Model 2 with a HD Model 1 for $23.02. Everything ended up working well. Always great when I don't have to repair crap.

No pictures for now, I'm scared the Chinese spammers will steal them. :p
From Wednesday:
They Might Be Giants - John Henry - $1.50
Half-Life: Blue Shift (CD in case with key) - $1.50
They Might Be Giants - Here Comes Science - $1
Dance Dance Revolution PC (CD + manual insert) - $1
iLife 08 (new) - $2
Codebreaker 9.0 (PS2, disc only) - $2
Iomega Zip 100 USB Drive (used) + 2 100Mb Zip disks - $5
MVP Baseball 2005 (PC, brand new) - 40 pesos from the Mexican flea market that sets up near my house
Sadly that Zip drive doesn't work. It won't read disks. It also won't eject them.
Yesterday:
American Flatulators VHS - $1
... and I'm not making that last one up.

It's been a while since I've worked on a zip drive. Pain in the ass. Still use one for my music production work; great for SCSI.
I did forget that I picked up a Western Digital 1TB My Passport last weekend for $25. Sold it on eBay tonight for a little over $80. Would have kept it for myself but there's nothing I need that I can't fit on my laptop or USB thumb drive. I was going to buy a blue USB external ZIP but the guy wanted $30 for it. I kept myself from laughing and walked away. Silly people trying to sell for retail at the flea market.

Angry Birds Plush 47 cents
NWO Wolfpac beanie 47 cents
Disney's Little Treasures 97 cents
Gamecube game case with 5 games $3
Yoshi(Nes) $3
Kirby's Adventure(Nes) $3
Super Mario Bros 3(Nes) $3
Kirby Super Star(Snes) $3
Goldeneye 007(N64) $3
Jet Force Gemini(N64) $3
All of these were from various Goodwill's. The two plush/beanie's were from an out of state one and they had really nice prices. I've never played Angry Birds but I heard it's a pretty big deal. The women behind me in line said I have one of those "mean" birds before I corrected her. But the fact that she was atleast 45 years old and semi-knew about them was very telling. The Gamecube wallet had Super Smash Brothers Melee in it along with a bunch of worthless sports games. I'm going to keep the wallet though because I've never seen one before. The cart games were pretty clean but I still cleaned the contacts for good measure.

Gears of War: Jacinto's Remnant novel $1.50
The Beauty Manual $1.50
101 All New Playstation Secrets Revealed 50 cents
Tom Clancy's Endwar novel 50 cents
Mass Effect: Revelation novel 50 cents
Halo: Ghost of Onyx novel 50 cents
Gameboy Advance SP adapter $3.50
Yippee, more video game novels. I'm going to read that Gears novel soon since I already beat all three games. I'm not sure which one this is but I heard there was a total of three Gears novels so far. I want to read the Mass Effect novel but I still haven't played the first two games yet. I'll probably read it first anyway. I'm slowly starting to amass a small collection of SP adapters and we all know how valuable those things seem to be. None of the Gameboy Advance SP's I've found in the wild have ever came with adapters but now I have them for all three.

I've always wanted to play it since I was a big fan of the movie. Plus I saw a YouTube video where you can make everyone surrender and then execute them. I thought that was hilarious.
Today was decent. Not great but it'll have to do.
Barbie Game Girl - $1
Sonic 2 - $1
Boxed Wiz N' Liz, Pac-Attack, Radical Rex, NBA Jam, NBA Jam TE Genesis - $1.50 each
Lion King Game Gear - $1
Loose Xbox - $5
Some old ass (5 pin DIN, 'Fast' 24x CD-ROM drive, etc) PC - $3
Some fancy smancy dishes and stuff - $8 (have to look them up, doubt I got anything great though)
One or two other things but I can't remember them. Like I said, terrible day. I may travel to the flea market tomorrow to make up for it.

So, I was browsing around a random booth at the flea market this morning and spotted this... thing. I saw the screen and thought it was neat and arcade-y, so I bought it for the vendor's asking price of $2.

"I've also recently discovered that the Coca-Cola company apparently placed a version of this game into a few Coke vending machines (on a trial basis) so you could play a little game while getting your drink. There are settings inside the vending machine version that allow you to choose anywhere from 10-30 seconds of game play. Coca-Cola decided to abandon the project, and supposedly all the machine with the games in them where junked. The bottom picture shows the actual game mechanism removed from one of the Coke machines. I understand this as extremely rare piece to find (the vending machine version) as it's possible that only a couple of them still exist (so far I can verify the existence of 3 of them)."
So, obviously it's quite rare, but I have no idea what the heck it'd be worth. It's pretty cool :D
I should probably contact the handheld museum guy and let him know a 4th one has turned up...
If it matters at all, not that I could beat what I found but I also picked up a small Sonic plush for $0.25.

Only found 1 gaming thing lately. It was the strategy guide for Legend of Zelda-Spirit Tracks for $1.67 at a local Goodwill. They also had a number of pretty decent books on HTML, CSS, and crap like that for $1.67 each, which should help me with my current college class.

Flea Market..
Rather depressing day,of Junk....I spent a lot of time at the market today having to wait on some friends to meet me there.
Junk, piled of junk, more junk,I was at the market till closing and so much stuff unsold,People don’t want this crap and or prices are to high..
I dug deep today going through nins and boxes, saying to my Dad,I’ve yet to find anything today is a bust..
Just beat after all the searching..
The last table I hit before I left picked up a sealed NES Punisher game for $5.00..(I have a few more of these sealed put away)
Zappers.$2 for $5.00...I passed these up earlier in the day, that sat on the vendors table all day..these were in a pile of NES-misc gaming wire knotted mess..I asked price on these and they were $3. each..I haggled to 2 for 5,turned to take the $5.00 out of my pocket and a kid walks up with his friend, steps in front of me and grabs the two zappers that I already untangled(OH CRAP NO!!=after I did all the work to untangle the wires)
He’s ready to buy them as he put one on top of the other all neatly but turns to ague with his friend who’s running off to another table and places them down I step past him quick NO FN way am I going to let this keep happening.. ,I grab them and pay the vendor..The kid looks at me like I did him wrong..
Last week,I ask a price on a big lock,$5.00..I say,Ok I will buy it in front of another guy looking at stuff on the table..I place the lock down for a second...the vendor didn’t have any change so I turn to break a 10 with my dad and the guy watching grabs the lock.I’m standing there looking at him as he finagles with the lock, opening and closing it,then say Oh well to the vendor and walk away,if that guy wants it sell it to him..see ya,I walk away, the guy puts the lock down and the vendor(whom I know) yells, hey you want it..
That lock sat there all day,but since I pick it up then someone wants to grab it too.,stupid people.
Racing Gear Bag(all cleaned up now) $2.00
Motocross gear $10.00

Running errands today I decided to stop by a pawn shop. Despite a poor selection of anything (games, electronics, movies, music, etc.) they had in one of the display cases a cellophane wrapped Saturn with 12 games that caught my eye. It's been a while since I've found something of interest in this place so I started reading off the titles:
Last Bronx, Mech Warrior 2, Enemy Zero, Warcraft II, Fighting Vipers, Shining Wisdom, Darklight Conflict, Command and Conquer, NFL Quarterback Club '97, Mystaria, Virtual Hydlide, and Shining the Holy Ark
I asked an employee if I could inspect the games and was informed somebody yesterday did so but didn't buy so it is considered impractical. I ensured them of a purchase provided the games are in satisfactory condition (minimal scratches, no deep gouges) so they complied. Upon ripping it open promo sleeves with the Panzer Dragoon preview and Virtua Fighter Remix discs fell out. After shifting through each game I was sold. It has been dry here for quite some time in finding Saturn titles so now I have a few new games to fill in library gaps. Most are duplicates so they will likely find their way as trade-ins but I'm still deciding on whether I need another console. Total came out to around $40.

Didn't wander around to as many places as I had wanted but came across some nicely priced DS and 3DS titles at my area Target. I ended up getting the following for $7.48 each...
Namco Museum DS
Captain America: Super Soldier (3DS)
Mahjong Cub3D (3DS)
I also grabbed some titles for my Goddaughter's big sister, all for DS and also all $7.48 each...
Spongebob Squarepants: Atlantis Squarepantis
Hello Kitty Party
My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie's Party
They had a decent amount of other titles at that price but I either already had (Cooking Mama 1 DS, DeBlob 2 Wii, Sonic & the Secret Rings Wii) or didn't want (iCarly Wii, ZhuZhu Pets DS, Deal or No Deal DS, Madden 3DS).

Gee, if you have an extra you want to get rid of let me know.
This game find was quite unusual as it was in the center of a vendors table,no other game items at that table and for the fact that I have two others.
This game in general brings back headaches everytime from a fiasco I had with one on ebay.
This ones not as nice as the two others I have away...The prices on these sealed have fluctuated so I've not had the push to list them on ebay..I haven't looked up the current prices as the ebay fiasco just keeps me from bothering..
I paid $40.00 each for the two I have away ,I sold a third for $80.00..
a forth as same as the above I had a big fiasco on ebay with a too picky, anal buyer...in over 10 years of selling I have never dealt with such a tard...
I don't like selling sealed games as buyers of sealed games are so picky..I don't have the time to bother with marks only seen under a microscope.
I'd rather sell them on ebay or anywhere as brand new sealed not opened as I have had the headache of dealing with ebay buyers who ask a ton of questions, agued over the smallest mark, though I showed a ton of pictures..
.
That has nothing to do with you..just my stoty that surrounds this particular game..I'm always reminded of it when I see it.
If you are interested let me know and I'll post pictures..
..I have three of these, make me an offer on any of them..

Found a bunch of stuff this past week/week & a half and thought I'd share since I had to take pics of some things for my ecrater (http://mobiusclimber.ecrater.com/) account. There's at least one thing I can't find info on, and one thing I had a really hard time finding and have no idea what it's worth.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/mobiusclimber/dpfinds032712-1.jpg
Hit up the Tacoma swap meet but it was kind of a bust for me. We also went to a junk dealer's but it looks like he has taken to selling things on Ebay now so there was no finds to be had (lots of boxed/CIB NES games but none worth buying). This is the same place I found a sealed Seaman and a boxed pink Justifier. Then we hit up a Goodwill on the way home.
At the swap, I picked up Super Bomberman with nice label and Buckeroos with beat up label for $12. Passed on Great Greed, much to my subsequent disappointment. At another table, found the Gameboy and games for $10. I'm planning on swapping the guts into a Yellow "Play It Loud" Gameboy I bought last year at the swap for $10 that doesn't turn on. I found Chaos, the text book/dvd combo thing, and TMNT Tournament Fighters at Goodwill. Chaos was impossible to look up due to its name. I doubt the Amazon price of over $40 for a sealed copy is correct, but I paid $1 for it. The cashier was hemming and hawwing over the price, asked me where I found it, to which I smartly and lyingly stated "in with the puzzles." LOL That text book/dvd thing looks to maybe be worth something, but I dunno. It might be worthless and I'll sit on it forever, who knows? That Tournament Fighters is beat to shit. You can't tell from the pic, but the cart under the label is cracked to hell. It has tape holding it together. and as for the board, well, tell me if you can see anything wrong in this pic:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/mobiusclimber/dpfinds032712-2.jpg
But for $2 I couldn't pass it up. A little while ago I found something I can't seem to find any listings for:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/mobiusclimber/dpfinds032712-4.jpg
Hollywood Camera Work Visual Effects For Directors. It's some sort of DVD course. I found a different one on a different subject, but not this one. Also, saw someone in Queen Anne with a bunch of ads up on CL. The only one that looked promising was he had Persona 3 & 4 guide w/ the P4 artbook for $15. When I called him I asked if he had other gaming stuff for sale (didn't remember his other ads). After listening to them the only thing I wanted was the Phantom Brave guide, so I got the three guides + pre-order artbook for $20.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/mobiusclimber/dpfinds032712-3.jpg
Then I got home and checked out his ads. He had an ad up for Mega Man X2 that he didn't mention! Wanted $25 for it, said the label was scratched up. I then looked up prices on some of his other stuff to see if anything else was worth nabbing. What this pic doesn't show is the game I already sold for $25: Silent Hill 4 The Room. Phantom Brave has the soundtrack w/ it. So everything in the pic + SH4 I got for $50.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/mobiusclimber/dpfinds032712-5.jpg
Went to my Goodwill yesterday and found this stuff. The DVDs and the game were $1.29 each due to the color of their tag being on sale. As I was waiting to check out, I noticed on the shelf behind the counter a box that said Slayer on it. And then a box lying down next to it which looked like a box set as well. So I asked to see them. Figured the Slayer box set had to be worth something and anyway, I'd pay $10 for four cds and one dvd from Slayer. Well, Amazon has this at over $100 but Ebay has a can't even sell it at $40 w/ free shipping. Mine is missing a tapestry too. I have it up on Amazon but if I have to keep it, that's fine w/ me. And yes the Heaven's Metal Collection features Christian metal bands and yes it was right next to Slayer. (Neither box set spontaneous combusted! Amazing!) It was a Skylander kind of day:
Picked two up at Best Buy for $9 each, two at Wal-Mart for $9 each, and two at Toys R Us for $10. Why were they more than MSRP? No idea. Figured two was enough although I passed on Dino Rang which is apparently worth a bit. The Toys R Us had about 50-60 of nothing but Legendary Trigger Happys.

Yup, and no one should expect any stores to get more of them in anytime soon. It's a one-shot bulk shipment of those for awhile. Instead of sprinkling them out each store got a full on single shipment in the 100 piece range, since they come six per carton. Blue Bash is supposed to hit sometime this week with the break date on 4/1.

Anyway, my MGC haul:

Not pictured is a Jaguar console, a cheap Famiclone, and about forty TI-99/4a games that I got for $15. Only one of them appears to be of any rarity, anyone in any need of a bunch of copies of Personal Record Keeping and Blasto?

TRU only item, once in short supply. Limits were placed on them last week since TRU merchandisers don't know their heads from their asses. Essentially this week was a wide drop shipment of the regular production run, hoping that extra hype and interest was drummed up by the scarceness last week when the figure launched. (being short supplied last week when the figure was advertised was a ruse) The thing is while every location has a ton of them now, they probably won't get another huge shipment like this one. Sure more will show up but at best it'll be a carton here or a carton there as the warehouse is bled out. This was the big drop, evidenced by pretty much every location in the company getting the same huge delivery via direct transit, to build up inventory for the next couple weeks. The difference over the standard character is I guess it has different in-game powers over the standard version of the figure.
While it's still limited compared to say a normal character run, there won't be the shortages there were back during and after the holiday season. Now the regular legendary three packs that went back into production last month and are sold out again - those may be hard to find since at present the re-production run was a single manufacturing push. Every production run this year will be of a MUCH bigger quantity than the previous year but then again there's more demand currently as well. Of course this can all change but with the next series of characters to fill out the game on the horizon, as well as the sequel breaking in a few months, continuing to manufacture the older figures when limited to 8' of display space isn't really Activision's MO.
Additionally there has to be a different plastic formulation for the figures manufactured this year as almost everyone I talk to says they have an odd scent from the plastic the older figures didn't have. Probably something added or removed due to a regulation for this year.

So, finds... have been exceptionally bad lately. Not a lot of things to pick up. :(
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2012-03-26-27.jpg
Most of these items were bought at a booth that had the weirdest combination of items... hard sci-fi and Christian literature. It was surreal.
The two VHS tapes are Image of the Beast and The Prodigal Planet, the third and fourth movies in a four film series about the end of the world or something. Willow is the novelization. The DVD-R spindle has ten discs, the Supergirl novel... yeah, and The Cuckoo's Egg. All of that was like six bucks. The CD was a buck somewhere else.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2012-03-28.jpg
Today was okayish.
William Gibson / Zero History - $1
OneNote 2003 new in box, Digital Image Anniversary - $10 total
Sword for Truth - $2
CDs were a buck each
Of course I spent too much on those programs. Oh well maybe I can make my money back.
I also got a used flashlight for $2, but it's cooler than the one I have so that's a bonus.

Nah, that's okay.

Went to my first rummage of the year today, and despite showing up a half hour early, I asked if they had any video games and was told the guy sold '2 big boxes of Nintendo stuff' about an hour ago. What the hell? I felt bad showing up 30 minutes early, but 90? Yikes, I guess I'm just not that kind of ruthless. Sort of frustrating, too.
I DID make a pretty great find at the Midwest Gaming Classic last weekend though- a $10 boxed Sparkster for the SNES and Dreamcast Project Justice for $15! SO I don't feel TOO bad.

I live in a small area, not the middle of no where but nothing close to a metropolitan area and I've had a few sales over the last few years (that advertised video games of some sorts in my case) that somebody showed up to at dawn or before to buy out anything retro gaming. I know exactly how you feel and in those cases figure that if I show up about right at start time to about a half hour before start time only to be told that the old video games are long gone then I figure so be it I couldn't have done anything more. How much could you really haggle (ok you might be able to but with some folks your going to have little to no leverage on doing so as an early bird) if you show up an hour or so early if you don't like the price and how awkward would it be to show up at 5 AM and have someone else already waiting at the sale really to pounce the first sign of life at the sale to ask about the video games?
Craigslist has been much more competitive also this winter anytime I see any kind of deal on old video games. I've had a few listings I was rather optimistic about since I replied an hour or less after they were posted and typicallly I never hear back or the only reply I get is that it's gone. I know this is normal in many areas but a few years ago on the rare occasion I saw older video games on my local CL I was interested in I had a worthwhile shot at being the first to make a deal within a few hours of posting.

You guys must not be seasoned yard sale veterans.
Starting soon (no later than May), I'll be getting up at 4-5am and leaving the house so I'm at places no later than 6. Sometimes I soldier until 2pm. I know I'm being an asshole showing up at some of these places early but most people aren't going to turn down money. It's not awkward to haggle at all if you set the tone.
Instead of giving off the vibe that you're another "yard sale vulture", tell the person you're on the way to work and you saw their items outside. Since you won't have a chance to stop later, you decided to stop now. Engage in some obligatory small talk and there you go. Works for me almost every time.
They don't have to know that you planned to come.

Please tell me you don't live in southeastern Wisconsin.
And I actually used to do that all the time, when I just worked part time and didn't have much else to do. But I figure if it's a Thursday sale, the good stuff is gone by Thursday late morning, same with Friday, and by Saturday it's usually a moot point around here. Now I work early first shift or very late second, so it's hard to find the motivation to get out of bed and rummage when I just got to sleep four hours ago or I get out of work at 1pm... until stuff like this happens I guess, and then my competitiveness kicks in.
The most disheartening thing is walking up a driveway past someone LEAVING with a big box of goodies, knowing that only minutes stood between you and your prize!

I'm with Jaruff. I'm normally up by 5 on Friday and Saturday (I don't often do Thursday sales) and out the door as soon as possible. I don't swoop in to sales at the first sign of life 2 hours early or whatever (though people do that anyway). I usually go to earliest advertised sales, and if the people are already out and appear ready to sell I'll walk up to the house. If not I'll wait, unless there's something better sounding opening at the same time that day. There's a whole etiquette I like to follow, but admittedly not everyone likes to follow the same code (I know a few people who like to show up a day early or even 2-3 hours early ringing the doorbell, the latter is a good way to get shot).

That is most likely a legit sealed copy. I have no sealed games published by Bam!, but if the type of box the game is in has the same type of flap on the bottom as it does on the top, then it's 100% legit. It's hard to describe, but some games were packaged in cheaper boxes. Titles I have that I bought new at MSRP and are still sealed, such as Mega Man Battle Network 5, Mega Man Battle Network 6, Capcom Classics Collection Mini Mix, and Castlevania: Double Pack, all come in those cheaper style boxes and feature the same exact seal w/o an H-seam on the back.
Now that things have cooled down with the DP Cold War and MGC having came and went, I finally had time to look over this again. It is sealed as you have described the your sealed GBA games, and as well matches my sealed copies of Spyro: Orange and whichever Megaman Battle Network game I have that I can't recall. Neat!
Speaking of MGC, here's all the stuff I picked up. I'm sure I bought something from someone here.

LOL You're the type of person I used to love when I would have my yearly burn off of excess at my parent's house. Starting from just before I moved back to the Bay Area, I began to dump my extra games and excess accessories and peripherals. That first purge about five years ago was huge but every summer since I've sorted out a good chunk to sell off. Sale would be listed to start at 7am let's say, sometimes in the paper and always on craigslist (still have to get a permit even if just advertised on craigslist or the the city sends out a worker to fine you and out to shut you down). So we're out, setting up, 6am or so, just pulling tables and boxes out, nothing displayed - I'm still running extension cords out to the front yard and setting up my myriad of switchboxes so everything can be shown working before purchase. Inevitably someone will already be parked out front, or will come up as soon as we're outside. I always ask where they heard about the sale and then ask if they remembered what time it's listed as starting. I don't care if they have a wad of bills, no business is conducted with them. Sometimes they bail, sometimes I give them asinine prices for items they ask about once the start time rolls around - just to have me make an incredible deal with someone else that showed up on time. It's always a lot of fun for me, simply because I hate going to an advertised sale right on the button and seeing people walking out with all the best advertised stuff, usually just to put it back up for resale.
Sadly probably no sale this coming summer since I'm finally down to a comfortable level but that's what I thought last year until I had to buy a few huge lots to get a couple items I wanted, and then sold the rest off. We're talking Atari VCS console with 50 games for $20.00, original fat DS consoles with bag and chargers for $5.00 each, Atari 1040ST computer with monitor for $5.00, mid range Genesis games for $2.00 each - some people really cleaned up.
I don't swoop in to sales at the first sign of life 2 hours early or whatever (though people do that anyway). I usually go to earliest advertised sales, and if the people are already out and appear ready to sell I'll walk up to the house. There's a whole etiquette I like to follow, but admittedly not everyone likes to follow the same code (I know a few people who like to show up a day early or even 2-3 hours early ringing the doorbell, the latter is a good way to get shot).

Only thing worse is seeing someone pick up said box of goodies and buying it and being a matter of seconds in this case @_@
I get the impression from what I read on forums that the further south you are the earlier things pick up for yardsaling since it gets so hot in the summer time as the day goes on. If sales are set up, signs are up for your sale etc. I wouldn't consider it rude to stop by but staking out an address, ringing doorbells or anything of the likes I would agree on being too much. We actually have a lady that won't ring your doorbell but will drive by your place a day or two before and if she sees somebody outside will ask you about jewelry if you advertise it for your yardsale.
I normally don't have enough sales around my area so I'm usually out from shortly before 8 and done before noon. I normally don't worry about getting to 7 AM sales right around the time they start just because it's usually too much trouble to circle back and hit up any 8 AM sales around them if nothing is going on an hour early at the 8 AM sales. If I'm not going too far I'll do what Ryaan1234 mentioned and zig zag around according to start times.
