This gem was a flea market purchase a few years back. I have since picked up two relatively pristine copies of Bionic Commando- one to atone for the aesthetic horror of the mangled cart shown above, and the other to bring me up to a score of +1 in the game of Bionic Commando cart collecting.

I'm not sure if you can see it but there is a great deal of red (crayon?) on the cartridge too. It adds a little extra flavor to the cartridge, I think.

You sure that's crayon, man? That thing looks like a Maxi pad. :|

He said he tasted it so I'm sure he knows what it is.

Awww, you should use the beat up cartridge. It has more character and more memories attached to it! :-)

My most beat up cartridge would probably be 3 dirty dwarves for Genesis...part of the label is torn off.

My Mega man 8 for saturn is in really bad shape too. I can see through parts of the disc lol but it plays ok.

Agreed. I love the thing. It is the first Nintendo game that I bought after a 15 or so year hiatus from playing the system. When I finally cleaned it up and it actually worked, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! I resurrected the poor fellow along with my original NES and I've never looked back. :)

My older cousin had Bionic Commando, and my play time with the game was very limited back in the day. To actually be able to play and relish the game unencumbered was the realization of an old dream.

With all of this said, I enjoy having a minty copy of the cart to look at too. Best of both worlds and all that jazz, eh?

I have a Perfect Dark cart that has a video rental sticker across the sides and back as well as a huge crack through it. Still plays fine, but I finally got a replacement cart for it. Now to get back to where I was in it...

We have just the circuit board for Batman Returns (or maybe it's Batman Forever?) on SNES, which my fiance found at the side of the road as a kid. If I remember his story correctly, I think it had some of the plastic shell with it when he found it, but it was so utterly demolished that it wasn't worth keeping any of it. But the board looks good, and the game played just fine.

I picked up a copy of Super Mario RPG from craigslist seller for 20 bucks.

I suspect it had just be laying out in someone's backyard because the label is pretty sun damaged and was crusted in what I can only hope was chocolate. It cleaned up well but I think that's the most damaged cart I have atm, gave all my original genesis stuff to a friend who's mom didn't believe in videogames years ago. i remember having some Gameboy game when i was a kid with no label that I just found on the side of the road though. Its was very beat up but played just fine and I had a lot of fun with it.. until my older brother sold it behind my back. lol Looking back it was probably one of the Bugs Bunnie's Crazy Castle games but I'm not too sure.

For some reason as a child I felt the need to attempt to peel the label off of my SEGA 6-Pak cartridge, so about 1/4 of it is ripped off. My Sonic 2 cartridge also looks pretty beat (the colors are completely bleached and parts of it actually look kind of burned), though it belonged to my cousins first, so they may be to blame for that one.

Ha... probably any of the games I bought from a video store where the "bar code sticker removal" operation ended up taking the label with it (which probably occured 50+% of the time, causing me to eventually just leave them there).
So, one or two dozen of my Genesis and SNES games. :p
Aside from those, my next crustiest cart would probably be my Kid Icarus... damn thing's never worked without an army of cotton swabs and post-power-on feathery-touches.

Mines Hook for the Nes. The back of the cartridge looks like somebody hit it with a hammer. Is there anyway to replace the cartridge case?

I have a small box of SNES and Genesis games that were flooded in Hurricane Katrina. They're pretty much ruined and I should probably throw them out...

I bet they're still fine as long as most of them didn't have battery backups, maybe even with batteries they are fine.

If I could bring this copy of Legend of Zelda for NES from this:

and have it work fine I bet your carts are still fine.

The labels on your carts however, might be trashed for good.

That I used to have: Jedi Arena for the Atari 2600. The casing has cracked open, so we could see the board inside. Since there were no label, I remember that I had stuck a Stéphane Richer (then of the Montreal Canadiens) hockey Panini sticker to keep the halves together. That cart is long gone.

Currently, the most beat-up cart I have would be my Super Mario RPG cart that I got for next to nothing from a friend because a chunk of its label was missing. Worthless to a collector, but a deal not to be missed for a gamer who just wanted a copy for playing (which was my case!). :)
