Anyone make a famicon to Nes adapter.

Kinda want to pick up a couple famicon games. I know some early 5 screw Nes games had a adapter in them but I'm lookin for something a little cleaner looking.

I've look around the net and found a pic of one by yobo. Just can't seem to find a new one for sale.

Any help or recomendations?

I wish you the best of luck with this...maybe I'm just unlucky but it took me months to find any of these for less than $50...besides the ones inside NES carts....I had one of those but like you said it's not very clean-looking..I did end up finding one for $20 on eBay. That'd probably be your best bet...Just be patient.

I have the time and desire to build one more in early July but as has been said, I want $50.00 for these. It's not the most enjoyable project.

I'm confused, are you playing NES games on the Famicom or Famicom games on the NES? Adapters to play Famicom games on the NES are somewhat common, I've never seen any worth $50 unless the price jumped recently. I've found these to be worth around $15, and I thought people looking for Gyromite carts just wanted to get an adapter for under $5. I used to include adapters for free with multicarts when I sold off spares.

I found several adapters for under $5 each, usually with some Famicom game with it. Usually the game would be a multicart. What was hard was finding an actual Honey Bee adapter but I managed to get one too.

You would think StoneAgeGamer would have a product like this for cheap. But I forget if they only sell the opposite type of converter or this as well.

Man, I must have gotten right in at the tail end of Famicom to NES converters being super common & cheap.

I think it was about 6 years ago I got a few new manufactured ones like these for around $5 a pop:

I would love to play some famicom games like Mappy but I'm not too hot on paying more than $20 -$25 for one of these things.

If anyone has any tips that would be cool.

I know I can convert a cart for cheaper but.... that just seems like a big hack.

For the time being, I will just use my Gyromite adapter and pop off the top half of my NES, which has no screws holding it to the bottom half.

I wish. That would be the best one to get, but as it is now, I have two of the latter. If I can sell one, I can afford modding the other for AV output. Until then, I'm stuck with what I got. I really ought to learn how to do these mods myself.

For a mass produced HoneyBee or similar adapter you really shouldn't have to pay more than $20 tops, any more is crazy considering how many were manufactured and how cheaply they were made.

When I make an adapter I use a Gyromite or Duck Hunt or Excitebike, etc. cartridge with the converter hardware inside. It involves a lot of cutting, grinding and filing to get things positioned correctly. The money I charge is for my personal labor in addition to the cartridge itself. Yes, $50.00 isn't cheap but I've sold more than a few over the years. The differences are that the cartridge uses all official Nintendo components, including the 10NES chip. Additionally the whole thing is handmade. Some people don't mind paying more for things like that but I can understand most "just wanting something that works." It really is a lot of work to build a sealed case adapter from something like a Gyromite cartridge, especially when a third party converter will usually do the job. That's the reason I don't make a ton of them. FYI the one pictured in my earlier post was my prototype that I base the "production" converters off, which are a heck of a lot cleaner.

I'd gladly make you one from a 5-bolt NES cart. I can make it look entirely OEM, as in you'll swear it's an original Nintendo accessory, or something completely custom.
