Hey guys.

I've taken a look around with the search function, and couldn't find a thread like this, so I figured I'd start a new one and ask for some help. My dad lives in the US, and I'm doing uni in Australia. Last week he sent me a package, which included my old -American- SNES, along with all its cables and games.

Now, I haven't tried hooking it up yet, because I'm pretty sure if I do, I'll fry it. I'll be honest, I'm anything but an expert when it comes to electronic stuff. I have an adapter that will allow the power supply the SNES came with to plug into an Australian power outlet, but I'm guessing the voltage will be different? My question is, what will I need to do/buy so that I can play my American SNES here in Australia, without frying the danged thing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

There's two key ways to fry something in this case...

Do not force NTSC SNES power supply into Australia/UK/etc outlet. NTSC SNES power supply normally expects 100~120v input!
Do not force PAL SNES power supply into NTSC SNES. PAL SNES power supply outputs AC rather than DC!

You'd need a correct outlet voltage converter to use the US power supply.

Apparently there's also custom third-party power supplies for using American SNES in the UK. If you can get one, I believe that would just take an Australia outlet adapter.

Well I definitely wasn't going to do either of those!

Thanks very much for the link, though! That UK mains adaptor/power supply unit for imported USA SNES consoles should work perfectly fine. I've already got an outlet adapter for a UK plug, so I should be set. Thanks again, bud. You've been a great help!
