Try goo-gone or alcohol.

I don't have any Goo-gone, but I do have some rubbing alcohol lying around. I think I'll use PD as a test cart and experiment a bit.

I've had very limited success using alcohol to remove marker from textured carts like the N64 has, but it won't hurt to try. It works great at first but can't get the marker that is down in the texture. The magic eraser will work, eventually, but it is just an abrasive, so it actually rubs off the texture to get to the marker down in there. Most people probably won't notice this, but about anyone on DP probably would.

Complete copy of LTTP. It was actually a gift so it technically cost me nothing. Sweet.

Don't use rubbing alcohol on the cart label, you will discolor and ruin it.

The best way to do it is to use some kleenex and soak it in alcohol, press it with your thumb and turn it to the left and then to the right etc. That i usually good at getting into the texture or even some tighter notches on other types of carts.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the obvious gem?

1942 Gold in that condition is worth a good $30-50. Great title by Micro Prose, haven't played it in ages. Caesar is worth a decent chunk too. I've got to check my storage building to see if I have those titles before I list them on eBay. I know I don't have the other ones I've decided to keep.

Impressive finds, but i'm curious is "riddles of the sphinx" anything like the atari game of the same name?

It looks like a Myst clone from the box but it'll be a few weeks before I get the time to install and play the ones I'm keeping for myself. I have to get my DOS box out of storage and find a place to hook it up. I really want to play Lost In Time because it looks so damn raunchy from the screenshots.

Try goo-gone or alcohol.

Goo Gone is good but you have to be careful.

This is why. Goo Gone + Anything to rub (even toilet/tissue paper) will remove the texture. Rub your finger across afterwards and you will notice. Not really an issue except for the super picky.

I ended up using some alcohol and q-tips. I managed to get 99% of the marker off the carts, but of course, I couldn't do anything about the marker on the labels.

On the plus side, they all booted up successfully on the first try. Even better, I put them up on Craigslist and I already have a potential buyer!

Last weekend I got some some stuff back from my brother that I gave and sold to him awhile back. He said just to take them but I wouldn't have that so I paid $1 each.

DC - Jet Grind Radio (complete)
GEN - Phantasy Star III (complete)

JGR is to bundle with a system as I've had a copy forever and Phantasy Star III I'll *gasp* actually play this time.

As for recent stuff...

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2012-10-24(01).jpg

PS2 - Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 (complete) - $5.00
WSC - Final Lap Special (cartridge, sleeve and booklet) - $18.00

After like ten years I finally completed Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero (decided to look up the last couple wanderers) last week so I bought a copy of TRX3. Yeah I know you can't complete TXR3 without a cheat device and beating 598/600 rivals should be considered "complete" otherwise but that's no deal to me.

Final Lap Special is a game I've been looking for FOREVER but it always seems to slip through my grasp. Not anymore. I'm looking forward to playing through the entire game as I completed Final Lap 2000 last year.

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2012-10-24%2802%29.jpg

Famicom - Million Dollar Kid (complete) - $24.00

I've wanted a complete copy of this game forever, one finally came up, so I went for it. The original version of what we got reworked, cut up, dumbed down, and stitched back together as Casino Kid. I've had a loose cartridge for awhile and I rarely buy boxed stuff but this game is one of those exceptions.

Considering what that costs at anime conventions you got a good deal. Let's just keep the conversation PG13.

Picked up Zelda Link's Awakening and a CIB Simpsons Escape From Camp Deadly for $1.99 each, plus 2 Live Crew compilation CD (from back in the day as it doesn't have "Banned in the U.S.A." on it and isn't released on Luke Records) for $2.99 from a Goodwill. Hit up another one and found three sealed copies of MidiSaurus Volumes 1-4 for $5 each. A few days ago I found a non-working PS3 for $20 and a beautiful condition Blue DS (original flavor) for $5 at this Goodwill. (I found a bunch of little stuff yesterday but mostly non-gaming).

Also, an announcement and ask for help: Me and a couple of my buddies are opening a video game store in Tacoma, WA, called Super Smash Games (http://www.facebook.com/SuperSmashGames). We're having a grand opening on November 1 so if you live in the area, come by and check it out. We're not going to be like most stores; there's couches and a couple big screen TVs set up for play, we also have a Playchoice 10 and a Wii kiosk, so it's going to be a fun place to just come over to and hang out. But now for the help part: if anyone has any sorts of talent they can use to help us with this endeavor, please hit me up (artists, personalities that want to feature our store, etc). We're also looking for some more Playchoice boards, so if you have a game you want to get rid of and are looking for trade or a fair bit under market value, hit me up. Also if you have any video game finds that you got for next to nothing and would mind passing along at a really good deal, let me know, as we will mostly definitely be needing more inventory than what we currently have. If you have anything a store could need, even just advice, send me a PM. Thanks guys. :)

Haven't been actively gaming so much in recent months, but on a quick stop to a local comic shop I found a cheapo Hong Kong pirate GB cart- "King Series 42 in 1 Color" featuring Pocket Bomberman and 40 other games (Q Billion is repeated once, despite the sticker saying "NO REPEAT"), all generally released 1991 and earlier and found on many other multicarts. Cart only, $25.
notbad.jpg
Label is similar in design to a "33-in-1" (actually 7-in-1 which repeats about 4-5x over, features TMNT 3, Adventure Island, and 5 others) multicart my brother brought me from Hong Kong many years ago which was named "Game USA Color Advance".

The wavebird does have it's receiver and the system has it's cables and the gba player has the cd I just didn't put them into the photo.

Same deal here, came with the cables to hook the system up.

So yeah, very very happy with this deal. Even if the condition of the snes isn't too great. Bottom half has that "piss yellow" thing going on.

Add this to the autoexec in your cfg file:

mount c "Path you want to be the C drive"

So 'mount c "C:\DOS HDs\C"' would mount that as the C drive every time you start up DOSBox. Beats having to type all that stuff every time.

It was nice to be able to pass up 2 separate small 2600 commons lots in the same day. Also passed up a boxed (w/ styrofoam) Colecovision with Donkey Kong but without a power supply for $19.99. It was at the Gardena Goodwill between the 110 and the Hustler Casino, so good luck!

A few nice things from last Friday:

http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/Snapbucket/1FC020B4-orig.jpg

Everything besides the N64 card and the GC GB player disc added up to 23.86 on 25% off day at Unique, the games are all CIB and very nice. The card was .99 and the disc was 1.99 (perfect condition) from Savers. The cassettes are the metal kind, and I think I know someone that will want them, if not they sell for a little. Sesame Street was a surprising find. As you can see, Unique looks old video game prices up now; how else are they going to price this game at 9.99? That's about the highest they price any games, but I think they don't put anything worth more out anymore, it must go online or to Savers or something (same company). Anyway, 7.50 is a decent price for that game complete, I only have it loose.

N64 system loose - $3.99
GE CB radio - $1.99
Racing Ages (Sega CD) Case / Street Fighter The Movie (Saturn) game inside - $.49
Aircraft Powerpack (Flight Sim X Add-On) Boxed - $.99
Commodore 64 loose (but came with documentation) - $1.99

Then I found one of these Famicon carts for $.99:

Quick lunch run to Half Price Books netted me:

Pokemon Diamond (NDS) - $8.50 (loose - but I have a case and manual for it)
Super Mario Land 2 (gb) - $2.50 (loose)
Playstation Console (PS1) - $24.99 (complete in box)

This playstation is in really nice shape, model 1001, in a nice condition original 1001 box, with all manuals, controller, and original hookups. This even include the original receipt from 12.23.1996 (Merry Xmas!) from Super Software in Barnes and Noble, Plano, TX. The receipt shows the purchase price:

Sony Playstation Core - $199.99
NFL Game Day '97 - $59.99
Twisted Metal 2 - World Tour - $59.99
Motor Toon Grand Prix - $59.99
Space Jam - $49.99
Playstation Strike Pad - $19.99

Total paid after tax - $487.06!

Interesting to see that in 16 years, the price of new release video games hasn't gone up - still at $59.99! That's pretty cool!

Paid $96 after tax, but had $50 gift card so only $46 out of pocket!

I really wanted the PS Vita trifecta with Lego Lord of the Rings, but they didn't have it at any stores or online. Maybe it was delayed for the Vita? They had the 3DS and DS versions....

I also picked up two sealed copies of Psych Season 6 for cheap. I tried to list them on Amazon but the site said they were a restricted item! Jerks!

How much you want for one ?

As much as I like starting the finds thread, these were found on Tuesday, so I can't justify it. ;)

Must have been controller day at Unique, fortunately also 25% off day:

N64 controllers were 3.99 each (blue one has stuck shoulder buttons, otherwise they are both great). Rest of the controllers were 2.99 each. There were several more NES controllers, too, and a generic/fake SNES, and the usual 3rd party for various systems and a bunch of PS1 and 2 controllers, too. Anyone need the PS1 controller? It is my second like it.

The CD-players were cheap 1.91 each (there is one under the yellow one), 3.93 for the yellow sports walkman. Then at Goodwill I found another couple Sonys.

Actually yeah, as I got a question in the video I did about the big Sony analog joystick about some compatibility stuff with the smaller pad. How much are you looking to get?

I'd hold on to that ps1 controller, That is a rare one, notice the difference on the analog stick? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_Analog_Controller I have only ever seen 3-4 of them in all the years I've been collecting.

Yeah, this is the second I've found, and I don't have any real need for another.

I have no idea what to ask for this. Anyone sold/bought one that wants to comment? I'm certainly not looking to get rich off of it (though of course that'd be nice).

Ebay purchase:

http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/2508/galagashoes.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/231/galagashoes.jpg/)

Pro Keds "Galaga" shoes - mint condition, look like they've been worn once or twice. They go great with my Pro Keds "Centipede" shoes. I think there were some others in that line, but will have to research to try to find which ones.

Oh and they are actually in my size - the only other pair on ebay recently were Mens 7's which are too small for me.

VERY cool! I have the Centipede ones that I got from David way back when he had a bunch. Wish he'd had the Galaga ones, as those would be my first choice (maybe he just didn't have them in my size).

Yup, I actually wish I bought the distributor out but I didn't have the desire at the time and he was a pretty big prick as well. I take that back, he wasn't so much a prick as just a very incompetent businessman. Anyway there were few different styles but the ones I was able to get in that bulk buy and resale were the low Converse-style type. There were three styles from that line - Centipede, Starman, and Super Mushroom. They also had a slip on version of a couple but I can't remember the pint, nothing new though and the distributor didn't have any.

All nice but man they just don't hold up, especially around the back as the rubber inside the canvas breaks down and cracks. Wish I kept a few extras as I wore these to work for about a year.

One of the orders from that guy...

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2008-12-02%2801%29.jpg

...unprofessional as all get-out but occasionally he would screw up his inventory and ship me extra pairs for free. LOL

The others like Deadman pictured came in different styles. There were two different Galaga ones, Asteroids, Centipede, Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man (women's). It took forever when they first were released but I was able to find the Galaga style II from an East Coast based menswear retailer.

For whatever reason I ordered 11's since they didn't have half sizes but I should have went for 12's. Green and Yellow laces included. Really only wore them to California Extreme 2008 and 2009.

I doubt it unfortunately. It seems I was getting them from the main distribution warehouse. Keds had a crappy deployment channel (they still do) so they sat for the most part then they went to the liquidator which who I was in contact with. Toward the end he moved them to eBay with non-descriptive titles and the auctions were ending for like between $0.95 and $6.00 per pair. (I remember pointing Joe in the direction of the listings at that time) I tried to get in touch with him again around that time to buy everything out (if he was dumping the inventory at that price it would give me a lot of room to make a higher offer) but he never got back to me and the inventory disappeared a week later. I'd venture a guess and say he wrote the rest off and trashed it, donated or exported it.

I have no idea so I looked at completed eBay listings. I see ended listings for $6.99 + $6.20 shipping, one along with a DualShock for $15.66 with free shipping, a pair of them $19.99 + $13.21 shipping. How about $15.00 shipped?

The Space Invaders on the Galaga shoes are really bothering me!

Well really they're not "Galaga" as the style is "Alien Arcade" and "Alien Arcade II." I forgot the names of the others but like the Super Mushroom ones were like "Mushroom Alley" the Centipede ones are "Garden Gnome" the Starmen ones are "Power Pellets" (oddly enough) and so on.

So all in all they did two series:

Canvas construction - Centipede, Stars, and Mushrooms
Vinyl (leather) construction - Galaga white, Galaga black, Asteroids black, PacMan black

I also saw a pair of white canvas asteroids shoes too, not sure where they fit in here. I'd love to find them all.

Well,

Canvas - Centipede, Super Mushrooms, Starmen (Super Mario, not EarthBound).
Vinyl - Galaga white, Galaga black, Asteroids black, Pac-Man, Centipede, Ms. Pac-Man.
And the other line of canvas without laces but I've never come across them in person but I believe the white Asteroids pattern was on this style.

Of course there are other video game sneakers, the 720 Degrees inspired Nikes among others, and these that took me forever to find...

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2011-01-14(01).jpg

FYI: Don't pay much for those as A) they run about a half size to full size small but the rate is inconsistent through the sizes and B) the vinyl artwork coating is prone to rubbing off, especially along to tongue where the straps come into contact with it. They're made pretty shitty to be honest, especially when you take into account how much they were when they were new.

2006. They would be more comfortable if I went up a half size but after an hour or so they're fine, very stiff though. All the vinyl on vinyl squeaks though in addition to the aforementioned peeling and wear.
