Saw your stuff at CCAG, impressive work! :)

Thanks!

store looks great

Thank you, sir. Coming from you, that means a lot. Your new store blows me away!

Ever consider making game related phone cases wiggy?

Possibly. We are working on a LOT of game-related products :)

Dear lord that NES style Micro is gorgeous.

Need to keep reminding myself I already have at least 20 options to play GBA stuff on the go. :D

LOL! I have to do the same to be honest. Often times I'll make one of these things and then not want to part with it. In fact, the store is (or was) stocked with at least 5 items that I've been hoarding for months. But, need to sell stuff to make money...

Hey I love the megaman micro skin. How hard is it to replace the stock buttons with blue ones?

Sort of a pain in the arse. The micro needs to be about 80% disassembled to put em in :/

The store looks great! I had a minor heart attack when I saw those Zelda homebrews on the site again as "Sold Out". I hope those come back, I'm really intrigued by them.

They are high on the list to be honest. LOTS requests since the site went up. Next round won't be exactly the same so that I don't take the "limited-ness" away from the last round of sets, but we'll come up with something cool ;)

wait so you make money on dumping ROMs on repo carts?

Yes. It's a thing. Get over it.

No, he makes money on making awesome stuff like this:

http://www.rosecoloredgaming.com/uploads/3/3/0/0/3300087/1441212_orig.jpg

I just want to say, "TAKE ALL MY MONEY!" Sadly, I won't have money to spend for a while now. Also wish the Zelda set was available for PAL, as well. ;)

Edit: Perhaps that could be arranged later, somehow? In regards to the Zelda games, I mean?

Thanks!

It might be possible. You're no the first/only person to request a PAL set...

Wiggyx,
If you're making repos are you going to be making covers for them as well for those of us that only buy games if we can put them in a UGC? I know you have the skill set needed as you're always making stuff on TCP.net.

I've made a few covers already for some repro games and most are already up in my SNES cover thread.

Secret of Mana 2
Bahamut Lagoon
Super Metroid redesign
Super Metroid Zero Mission
SMW: Return to Dino Island
New Retro Mario Bros
Star Fox 2
Super Bonk 2
And I think I have Parallel worlds and Goddess of Wisdom covers up.

Wiggyx you make beautiful objects but at this kind of prices I cannot justify buying them. At 150$ for EB0 while I can get a good repro of the game for 35$, I have a hard time justifying spending more than 4x the price in order to get that fancy look you strive for.

I'm jealous really. I feel you are becoming the BMW of retro world

I keep a close eye on your products, maybe someday you'll release something I'll want badly enough to throw all my money at you and thank you for it LOL. Best of luck with your new store and if you continue to dwell into the world of reproductions keep an eye out for occasions to share a % of your sales with the translator/hackers that brought the game to us, that would be a classy move.

Thanks for the kind words!

Actually, I'd love to contribute to the ROM hack/translation community. I just don't know where to start really :/

Guess I need to spend some time really hunting these guys down and figure out who's done what. Some of the games like goddess of wisdom are really tough because they've been re-worked over and over by a number of different people, and, as I understand it, a lot of the guys that make these end up sorta disappearing (loss of interest? lifestyle changes? Who knows?).

Hell, I'd be all about commissioning some new hacks and translations. That would be really fun!

I've had a lot of requests for prints of the art that I did for the Zelda set. So here they are!

Came across your work... somehow. Must say I'm extremely impressed!

One question I did have was about the replica buttons/d-pad... how does the replica material compare to the original? Same texture, feel, durability?

I ask because I've purchased replica replacement parts for gamepads, etc. and they feel significantly different than the originals to the point where it is really distracting to play.

I'm in no way trying to knock your work or take away from it, just genuinely curious as to how they compare to the OEM parts.

Thanks, and great work!

Thank you!

They are cast from molds made using original parts, so the texture, shape, etc are exactly the same. Honestly, it depends on the color. It sounds weird, but different dyes each have different affect on the rigidity of the casting material (despite all my dyes being the same brand). For instance, the black dye tends to soften the resin a bit. Black parts are never quite as solid as the other colors, though they're still perfectly usable. But I'd say the feel/durability is pretty close to OEM overall.

That actually does make perfect sense! I've noticed similar things with action figures where using certain dyes can affect the rigidity/feel of the item.

I've been thinking of scooping up a NGPC from you, so I'll keep my eyes open for a sale or something. ;) Hoping to see more cool stuff from you soon, I'm sure you have no shortage of ideas!

Thanks again, and best of luck with your endeavours!

Thanks!

I've got a pretty good size pile of NGPC units sitting here waiting to be modded. We'll have some up for sale soon...

New packaging for all of our products too! The gray was getting tired. Color is the new gray :P

Personally, I liked the plastic case. These look to be cardboard, which isn't going to hold up as well.

Hey Wiggy, I saw on another forum that you were experimenting with a 3D printer and designing a new SNES case. This might sound dumb/odd, but is it possible to remake the original case in the original matching color? Would be a great solution to those piss-colored SNES's.

It's true, it won't. But I needed a solution to a serious problem and that problem was/is making the packaging by hand. Trimming and adding sleeves to those cases and making the inserts by hand was a HUGE time consumer. There was just no way to keep that up with the volume that we're doing now.

I've been talking with a fellow in NY that wants to invest in something like this. I personally have zero desire to make exact replicas of pretty much anything, but doing so may afford me the ability to pursue more unique items, so it's possible that something like that might happen in the future :)

We've been working non-stop to try and get the latest batch of goodies ready. We've got about 60-65 modded portables coming over the next week or so :)

I certainly would want one if it's the same mold as the original. I've given up on waiting for a vinyl-based spray that matches the original.

Been a while since I've posted any updates. Here's a doozy.

Sorta inadvertently made some waves with a custom 2DS that we just finished building. Dunno if you guys have seen it or not, but searching "Luigi 2ds" will bring up plenty of hits and there is a quick video on secondopiniongames.com about it.

I have a couple of questions

1. When will see another Zelda faceplate for the micro?

2. any news on more Zelda box sets?

thank you

wiggyx
11-02-2013, 01:32 PM
Faceplates are sort of on hold while we look for a manufacturing process that makes more sense for the product. One recent idea didn't pan out, but I've got another contact that might be able to produce what we want. We will post updates on the blog and FB as they come in.

New Zelda sets are coming in the near future. We're waiting on some parts to arrive, then we'll start cranking on the prototype. After that, it won't be long before we have em ready to go :D

We are SOOOOO trying to get to them, we've just been swamped beyond belief.

I know they'll go for at least 9 hours on a set of AAs. We will eventually get a proper test done, but the new LCD doesn't seem to be a huge strain on the batteries :)

We just knocked out this set of Zelda GBAs that have been sitting around since like August. They'll be up for sale on the site soon :)

hey wiggy, you added a backlight to my Neo Geo Pocket color last year. I am very happy with the results. I noticed that you have some Neo Geo pocket colors on your website that are backlight modded. Do these back lights look the same as the back light used in my modded Neo Geo Pocket color? I think that the late used in my Neo Geo Pocket color came from a GBA SP.

wiggyx

We can only front light mod the NGPC systems. Does it say backlit somewhere?

Hi. do anybody know where to buy custom colored buttons for the Gameboy Advance, and ship international (Denmark)?
I am looking for RED A and B Buttons, and a BLACK D-Pad. :) Thank you

Try googling Handheld Legend and secondarily kitsch bent (spelling maybe off) as both are the #1 and #2 most notable and trusted suppliers of after market parts, mods and other goodies for all things Gameboy.
