Just saw this on ebay... asking for 3500$. heres the video of the making of:http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VvEkA-x3hVk. Guy looks like a nut case and wasted 400$ for this.

He is a mental patient and does it sheerly for attention. He does microwave plastics in general to make various pieces of art, but he also has fried all the newer consoles for a few years going back and handhelds too. It's all for show and while he is wrecking a system you also get one of his pieces of real art out of it too which is not in the headline for the sales. A guy at NA is a close(close enough?) real life friend of this guy. He honestly thinks though that microwaving consumer goods or even garbage made of plastics is art so I know his screws are loose. Either way anyone could at least at the microwaving level do what he's doing, but why go buy a $100 microwave, a $300 system, melt it and blow out the appliance other than to get attention and it isn't art, it's destruction. I suppose you could call a mushroom cloud over 1945 Hiroshima art too, but I doubt most would agree with that too. :D

I've accidentally viewed his videos in the past. He probably makes some kind of money just from the amount of views his videos get. We just helped add to his view total. :(

Not art. Belongs in the same dumpster as Duchamp's toilet.

That had a reason and was representative of its era. This is just "grr, I'm so edgy."

That sounds 'representative of his era' to me.

Why didn't he microwave the regular version instead? Aside from color there's no difference on the outside of the system.

Dada had a historical background and reasoning behind it, regardless of whether or not you believe it to be art.

This is pointless.

Aren't Wii U's just $350? Add in a cheap microwave and you're in under $400. I don't know what YouTube pays, but I'm sure some of that, if not all, he would make back from views.

My friends and I used to melt those little plastic army men, or just heat up their knees, elbows, stretch them out, then let them dry in funny poses...who knew that we were "artistic geniuses!"

I don't know how to respond to this. On one hand, "that attention starved twit is ruining perfectly good electronics and all the money he spent could have fed 100 starving children in Burma"... but on the other hand, meh. It's a single Wii U unit. So what.

As an artist he makes monies by people buying this stuff. He sold a 3DS just after launch for quite a large sum if memory serves. I'm more surprised that you all are going on about him nuking a Wii-U and not his destruction of an English copy of Kizuna Encounter that he did a few months back. That one got me kinda upset at first. But hey, we all do what we want with our own shit and I guess it's like seeing a classic car that some idiot has gone and 'modded' ruining it.

First time I saw this guy was a Christmas special that was done on History, A&E or something or other. It was about houses that go super crazy decorating. His parents (whom he lives with) are down in Los Angeles. They have lots of monies, and he goes bananas decorating the house with lights, robots, statues and all kinds of crap. Hell, he did the xmas decorations for the first season of Conan on TBS.

For his next video, he should microwave himself. Now that would be something!

I guess, "this is art, because it's weird and expensive." =______________=

His Q&A on eBay was funny, though.

I'm surprised the Wii U hasn't been microwaved on the "Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This?" as a special episode, honestly.
