Every time I think I have seen every system, I stumble across somthing new. Now, with the combined gaming smarts of all you collectors from around the World, can we get a running list of every system ever made. I'll start with the one I found out about today.

This is great. I ment ALL, but I guess obscure is most important. I'm working on my cell phone and I can't do it, so can someone keep them in line order, so we can follow it eaisy.

This thread is 100% not needed. There are plenty of similar lists available by just doing a simple Google search or even an archive search here.

No thread is NEEDED! There is no list with ALL systems listed. There are always some missing. It's all about fun and education...its videogame talk..relax.

Can I suggest something to keep this organized? OP you should keep your original post updated with a list of all the named consoles with perhaps a link to a picture of them or a website containing info about them. I can see where this could be handy to collectors that try to collect everything :P

That's what I want to do but I'm on a crappy cell phone. Can someone please take control of it.

do variations of previous hardware count as different systems?

E.G. SEGA CD with X-EYE and Wondermega, Genesis with MegaJet, etc?

Also, add in the Super A-Can.

I might as well throw in here and list as many systems as I can think of. They're sorta-kinda in a half-assed chronological order.

Magnavox Odyssey
Fairchild Channel F (also known as Zircon Channel F)
RCA Studio II
Atari 2600
Bally Astrocade
Magnavox Odyssey 2
Intellivision
Colecovision
Vectrex
Atari 5200
Emerson Arcadia 2001
Ultravision (unreleased)
RDI Halcyon (obscure as hell)
Sega SG-1000/2000/3000
Famicom/NES
Atari 7800
Sega Master System
PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16
Konix Multi-System (Unreleased)
Commodore 64GS
Atari XEGS
Amstrad GX4000
Action Max
ViewMaster Interactivision (weird VCR based system for kids)
Casio Loopy
Sega Mega Drive/Genesis
Super Famicom/Super Nintendo
Philips CD-i
Memorex VIS
Neo•Geo
3DO
Atari Jaguar
Taito Wowow
Super A'Can
Sega Saturn
Sony Playstation
PCFX
Bandai Pippin/Atmark
3DO M2 (unreleased, sort of)
Nintendo 64
Project X/Nuon
Sega Dreamcast
Indrema (unreleased)
Sony Playstation 2
Nintendo GameCube
Microsoft Xbox
Nintendo Wii
Xavix GamePort
GameWave DVD System
Sony Playstation 3
Microsoft Xbox 360
Nintendo Wii U

I didn't list portables because other than the Lynx I've never really cared that much for them, so I couldn't even put them in remotely half-assed chronological order. But here's a quick list from memory.

Nintendo Gameboy/Gameboy Color
Atari Lynx
Sega Game Gear
Nintendo Gameboy Advance
Wonderswan
Neo•Geo Pocket/Pocket Color
Tapwave Zodiac
Gizmondo
Nokia N-Gage
Nintendo DS
Sony PSP
Nintendo 3DS
Sony Vita

Like I said, these are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head, and they're mostly North American releases. There's loads more variants out there for early '80s systems - the Hong Kong company that licensed their hardware to Emerson for the Arcadia 2001 also licensed it to damn near every developed country in the world. I think I read that Germany alone had three different companies putting out variants of that system. And there's a bunch that I can't remember off the top of my head, like a crappy Gameboy wannabe or two that came and went in the early '90s and some odd Japanese consoles.

That book is excellent. I bought a copy from the atari age booth at OVGE years back. It has lots of nice clean pictures, a great layout, and convinced me to buy an atari st and amiga 500 and 1200.

But nothing could prepare me for how awesome it smells... Seriously... It smells friggan awesome!

OK, I'll bite.

Steve W's post actually mentions a couple I haven't heard of before.

What's the:
Konix Multi-System (Unreleased)
and the Taito Wowow, especially? Taito made tons of great games (indirectly supplying a good portion of the arcade game ports to the X68000 computer, for example) and anything from them would be interesting.
Fake edit: Having looked at this page (http://faberp.tripod.com/TJAW.htm), I can tell you something right away - they're using a MSX compatible controller port almost certainly, since that's a Panasonic jellybean MSX controller plugged in.

Add to the list that Namco was reportedly considering, I think around 1992, a video game console of their own. That also would have been fantastic to see, especially if they made use of their sprite / layer rotation technology to port some games at arcade quality.

I bet I could top this list though - so obscure it wasn't even on the 'net when I searched it out years ago, and doubtlessly it had no name. Back in the 1970s, it must've been, a book was released about 25 years of Sony, and in it there's a mention of a kind of quiz game being run on a magnetic floppy, I think. Just a demonstration unit for their work on early floppies, possibly. I've been meaning to write about this for some time but I might as well do it here and now!

Konix Multi-System (Unreleased)
and the Taito Wowow

The Konix Multi-System was a game console from England that would have been built inside a driving controller style case that could also transform into a flight yoke and a motorcycle handlebar. Konix was a joystick and peripheral manufacturer that hired the people that eventually went on to design the Atari Panther and Jaguar consoles and also the SNES SuperFX chip to work on it. For the late '80s it was a pretty powerful machine. And since they were a peripheral maker, they'd have a lot of good stuff to go with it, like the Power Chair that you'd mount the TV and console onto and would whip you around while you play. Some of the problems with the system were that the owner of the company wanted to keep the system British and therefore wanted to hang on to the console even though LucasArts was thinking of investing in it or possibly outright buy it up. Another problem was that they just didn't have the money to keep going. It had some great looking games lined up, but they never got out of the gate.

Nobody really knows about the Taito Wowow, it was a TurboDuo looking design that was shown off around 1992 at a toy show, then it disappeared. You could have played CD-ROM games on it, or downloaded games from a Japanese satellite service.

Add to the list that Namco was considering, I think around 1992, a video game console of their own. That also would have been fantastic to see, especially if they made use of their sprite / layer rotation technology to port some games at arcade quality.
I always thought that Namco was partly responsible for the original Playstation. At least that's what I read at some point before the system's launch.

Well, if ActionMax counts what about the interactive videotapes for Captain Power or, by extension, any interactive video media? Dragon's Lair, Dungeons and Dragons DVD, Laser Tag... I think you have to draw the line. It's unique, but it was only a gimmick added to an already established non-gaming medium.

Also, Atari 400/800...cassette tapes for the win baby!!! (Who am I kidding? I only have Darts, and no system to play it on.)

Well, Action Max had a console device that had to plug in to your VCR, it wasn't a standalone kind of thing like Captain Power. There was a machine that indirectly plugged into the TV set, passing through a VCR first. So I count it.

I am rather suspicious of the Game Axe's 1989 listed date, not just given the obvious Game Boy Color logo ripoff (the word "color") but the color screen in the unit...although I think there were units with boxes produced before that one.

Here's one many probably don't know about:

http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/Daewoo_Zemmix

While it is technically just an MSX, a lot of zemmix-branded pirate games came out specifically built for the system, including a ton of games by Zemina.
