I'm soliciting your help in finding every link, photo, and quote (particularly your own stuff) from this past weekends' show. I'll start with a few and later today I'll have the DP recap page posted as well. In the meantime, please add your online findings or personal webspace links so we can all share the moments that made this year the best ever!
If you were at the show and have a quote that we could use either on the CGE site or in my Tips & Tricks column, please post that here as well.
Watch this space!

You're welcome to use all the photos or quotes posted in my threads on this forum:
Photos of CGE 2K3 people, places, and events! (56K warning) (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17373)
Classic Game Expo 2003 booth photos (56K warning) (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17376)
Pictures of Nolan Bushnell from Classic Game Expo 2K3!!! (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17370)
Here are some additional quotes:
-"The Classic Game Expo is the anti-E3 [Electronic Entertainment Expo] of gaming conventions, where the hot new video games take a back seat to vinatage favorites. You won't find anyone arguing over whether the Playstation 2, GameCube, or Xbox has the best graphics--here it's all about the love for the games."
-"Las Vegas is the perfect location for the Classic Game Expo [CGE]... The whole town is like one big arcade. After all, aren't slot machines the original arcade games? Now I just wish the casinos had theirs set to free play like the arcades at CGE!"
-"Las Vegas owes a lot to videogames. Look at any casino floor these days--the most popular gambling attractions are video games; they're computerized slot machines (that use video reels displayed on a monitor). The only difference is that if you hit a 'high score' on one of those, they pay it out in cash! So it's nice that once a year the town pays its respects by playing host to the Classic Game Expo."
-"This town is a great fit for the Classic Game Expo. At heart, Las Vegas has always been about playing amusement games... The stakes are just a little bit higher at their arcades."
-"Come to think of it, Vegas is all about playing games. I go to CGE and play video games for free all day, and then all night I play video games for money at the casinos. Now if only you could hit a jackpot for getting high score at Pac-Man; I'd be set for life!"
LOL -OK, you get the point about the connection I'm trying to make between Vegas slots and arcade games. Feel free to use those quotes above in any form, combine them with each other, or cut them down to fit within the space you have.
I'm just trying to put my "25 cents" in on this subject! ;)

Is this for real as printed on the Lik-sang site?
"We are teaming up with the finest reporters on the story (DigitPress) in order to prepare for you an in-depth article featuring loads of pictures on Monday after the week-end’s expo frenzy.
DigitPress and Lik Sang are also proud to run a Live Camera during the entire show to put you right in the middle of the action during the 48 hours of this very unique party."

Phosphor Dot Fossils
08-13-2003, 08:45 AM
Just finished coding mine. Virtually all of it was written on-site - it's about the most bloggish thing I've ever written. Thrill as Nolan takes up a whole autograph page with a bizarre little Pong sketch, Atar1g1rl grimaces at the majesty of her new PINBALL MACHINE, and I get assimilated by the Borg (and charged for it by the Ferengi). Learn what the hell was up with my bizarre auction action. And discover the secret horror of The Dude In My Room and his mighty architectural feats of aluminum.
All photos can be found from the "Sights of the Expo" link on any given page, but I'd like to think the text is worth a read-through too. Your mileage may vary. You'll be missing a lot of context for the photos though. ;)

No, and it won't be through me. I just thought people would actually enjoy playing it, so I borrowed it from someone.
Turns out they did! Propellar Arena ended up being a bigger hit at my booth than my magazine and unreleased NES games. A bigger hit than ME, even!

Over 200 pictures with captions (sorry, some of them aren't completely informative... okay let's call them outright silly) is the highlight of our in-depth coverage of this year's Classic Gaming Expo. Take a peek at the show from our camera and also from our web cam (see "Virtual CGE" below)! Good fun, hopefully the pictures do the incredible show justice.
