What is this PSX the gamestop geek told me about?

Okay, so I'm in Gamestop last night, buying my usual of an nes game and like 5 genesis games (I always buy only nes and genesis there). The guys there seem to think they know me and always tell me about the latest PS2 stuff ("since we know you love it"... morons look on the fucking counter). Anyway, so he's telling me about a "PSX that's coming out soon... has a hard drive, DVD writer and DVR software like a Tivo"... is this true?

If so, how on earth do the expect to not get their asses sued into oblivion by hollywood?

You mean you missed the threads here on the PSX? The all in one home entertrainment system being sold by Sony Eletronics, and NOT their video game division, probaly going around $600? :)

Yeah, I don't pay attention to the threads for things I don't intend to buy... I don't understand how they think they won't get sued into gelatinous blobs over such a device. Not even Microsoft pushed forward with ReplayTV when they kept getting sued...

Also about that price sony has been deep in talks lately about being relasitic about that price, and has been said to be dropping that hefty ugly price to 399, hey it's better then whats already been shown.

I hate the new PSX... All that will happen is I will feel the great need to buy it since it looks so cool... I can't afford it and I am perfectly happy with my PS2 anyway. Sure, I want one, but I just wish they would knock it off and use that design instead for the PS3. I hope the PSX never sees the light of day unless they make just an obnoxious amount of them and I can buy one three years later for $150!

The PSX at 600 is a steal if you're in the market for what it comes with. Shit, forget about the PS2 included, you're getting a DVD burner w/ 120 GB Tivo-style recorder and a high-end DVD player. Forget about getting *any* DVD burner at even 500 these days.

I would put solid money that there are at least two versions of the PS3 at launch or soon after.

Yeah, except that I already have a DirecTivo with 240G of space and a high end dvd player... using a non DirecTV dvr would mean that I'd have to convert the signal to analog, input it to the dvr, where it would be brought back to some semblance of mpeg... just to write it to DVDR. Buh. Screw that.
