Happy "Nintenday" to everyone here! That's right, on this day in 1985 the NES was released in the United States and the rest has been history and today we celebrate the birthday of the Nintendo Entertainment System! What are your plans to ring in the birthday of the most influential and important video game console of all-time? I personally plan on playing some of the games that made the NES so special, games like Mario, Zelda, Punch-Out, Donkey Kong, among others.

I hope you all enjoy this glorious day!

Well, it won't be as big a deal as it will in 2 more years. Still kind of exploring the Genesis' library at the moment.

Some of my favorites for the NES would include:
Batman
Bubble Bobble
Castlevania & Castlevania III(nothing against II, just adventures aren't really my thing these days)
City Connection
The Contra's
Dig Dug II: Trouble in Paradise
Donkey Kong Classics
The Double Dragon's (at least NES III is somewhat enjoyable)
Fire 'n Ice
Godzilla: Monster of Monsters! (eh, I found it fun)
Hogan's Alley
Kirby's Adventure
Kung Fu
Marble Madness
all 6 Mega Man's (though I could do without searching for Beat parts in the latter 2)
Mike Tysons Punch-Out! (is it possible to not like this game?)
The Ninja Gaiden's
Pipe Dream
Popeye
Puzznic
Q-Bert
Qix
Solomon's Key
obvious the SMB games(2 possibly being my favorite, and that's not a typo. First coupled with Duck Hunt)
The TMNT beat 'em ups
Wrecking Crew
WWF Wrestlemania Challenge (I think it's fun enough in single player, but 2p tag team mode is a blast)

On, yet off, topic:
I've often wondered, if they didn't have the guts to bring the NES to the U.S., would we be saying the same thing about Sega, or NEC?

The NES is my favorite system- no question. With that said, I'm taking a semi-vacation from it at the moment.

Well it was that long ago for the nes launch huh.Now i feel really old at this point.I remember wanting a C64,around the mid 80's since it was getting cheap by that point. Then id played SMB at a arcade and when i found out it was on the nes, that sold me on the console.
