I've been playing a lot of Wrecking Crew for the NES. I've also been playing Soldiers of Fortune and Tyrants on the Genesis. I can't seem to get my Genny mouse to work with Tyrants. Does anyone know if Tyrants is compatible with the Genny mouse? Tyrants on the Genesis could be better than the PC version AKA Mega Lo Mania IMO if it was Genny mouse compatible. The game just plays better with a mouse. Why couldn't Sega make their ports of popular PC games compatible with their freaking mouse??? :frustrated:

I couldn't get Populous to work with my Sega Genesis mouse either. What's really lame is that Populous 2 works with the Genesis mouse but not the original??? Power Monger is a no go as well. On the upside my SEGA GENESIS/ MEGADRIVE version of Cannon Fodder was compatible with the Genesis mouse.

Skies of Arcadia and Final Fantasy II, mainly. Have also been playing a bit of Super Mario 64 on the side, trying to get all 120 stars. At 72 thus far.

I'm trying to play/buy as many good RPGs as I possibly can since I played through Chrono Trigger a few months ago (well, I still play it regularly up to this point).

Everybody's Golf 2 for PSX - one of my favorite golf games, but not as good as Neo Turf Masters in my opinion. Also I was playing some Chack n Pop for Famicom recently, forgot what a soft spot that game has in my heart!!

Oh, and MGS 5 Phantom Pain on PS3!!

Now that I have no reason to wait as I got my modded GBA done I've been pulling out various stuff I've picked up including new finds from this last weekend too. Yesterday I cleared Jimmy #2 on Wario Ware and took down the first boos of Duke Nukem Advance. Yet, during the week I also did a couple stages of FF Tactics, a few battles in Puyo Pop, played that 3D platformer Asterix & Obelix XXL I imported, and cleared the first set of courses on Top Gear Rally Advance too. It's nice being able to sit at the desk here or in my new comfy chair and just go at it. I've got an old library (2 drawer) index card holder I've repurposed for Gameboy stuff. Left drawer is 2 rows of GB and GBC games in A-Z, and right side is Advance in 2 rows too. Easy access and lots of choices.

Also at the start of the week used an A/V to phones cable I had, plugged my new Sega Genesis Ultimate Portable in and did a bit of E-Swat, couple stages on Sonic, and a few fights in MK1 with SubZero too.

A few days ago I started playing Final Fantasy for NES, doing a solo white mage quest.
Not really as hard as I expected, although I did alot more leveling up than really necessary.
Just obatined the floater and airship. Took about 10 tries to get through the Ice Cave.

So I haven't posted in this thread, here's what I've played throughout the year off the top of my head.

Brigandine The Legend of Forsena. I never tire of this amazing game.
Super Smash Bros Wii U. I used to suck at fighters, which is why I really liked Super Smash Bros. Because my favorite genres are mostly unavailable this gen I had to get into different genres, and with the release of Street Fighter 4 I actually got good(intermediate) at fighters and played a lot of Playstation All Stars later(high level play, but not as good as a lot of the pro level people who are still playing.) After playing Super Smash Bros, I see just how bad it is as a fighting game. Moves like your B attacks for most characters are almost useless except either getting back on the ledge or in very specific situations. Use them against a good player outside of those specific situations, and you just gained a good % of damage.
Splatoon. It'd be better if playing with randoms you didn't get stuck with bad players every single match. When I played I was usually at the top for my team win or lose. Nintendo then patched it so you couldn't see how many points everyone made so you couldn't see how bad your teammates did and how good you did in comparison, but you could still see the rank you received. Playing with friends, 90% of the time they'd be on the opposite team, that's great. I haven't played it since they created where you can play with friends in a private match, but it seems like they removed the option to play with friends and randoms, it's either only play with friends now or only play with randoms. How many back steps are you going to take on this game Nintendo? This is the same with Super Smash Bros. Only play with friends or only play with randoms.
NES Remix... or how to play NES games(sold.)
The Last of Us. Finished on the hardest difficulty, might as well go for the platinum. Good game, but overrated.
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round. Don't know why I keep buying into this franchise.
DmC Devil May Cry Definitive Edition. I don't buy DLC so I never played Vergil's Downfall until now, but really awesome DLC that's worth the purchase of the upgrade along with all the other extras. Vergil plays completely different from Dante. I've put 20 hours each into both DmC Devil May Cry and Vergil's Downfall, mostly Bloody Palace. In my opinion this game is slightly better than DMC3, but because of all the hate based on it being a reboot because of the different character design, we'll never get a new game :(.
Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. I had the install data deleted from my PS4 and it takes about two hours for the game to install so I didn't play it before getting the PS4 version. If I played it prior to purchasing the PS4 version, I never would have made that purchase. Being able to play as Lady, Vergil, Trish, Nero, and Dante is a cool feature, five characters in one game, and they all play well, the content of the game itself is a bit mediocre.
Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate. I got a New 3DS and since this game has the best implementation of the 3D feature by far, as well as being a great game(yet another underappreciated game) I played it again with the New 3DS. I've already played through the entire game with the 3D on with the regular 3DS atleast twice, this was more of a test of the New 3DS head tracking and if you like the 3D in games, then I'd highly recommend picking one up, even though Nintendo is working on releasing their next portable and the New 3DS will have no support the moment it drops(even though it's getting no support now other than playing 3DS games.)
Puzzle and Dragons Super Mario Edition. It's good at first, then gets really really repetitive.
Legend of Legacy. I'm a SaGa fan so I preordered this, and the gameplay within battles is really good, graphics are great, and I love the character designs. The area maps in the game are the real issue, and while they get better as you progress through the game, the first area maps you go through might as well be the same maps with different layouts. It feels as if the game lacks progression as it was hours and hours before my first weapons and armor upgrade other than a weapon drop that I received. It's not a bad game exactly, but it's not exactly good either. It's definitely got good qualities as the battle system works well. If you're into SaGa gameplay with a bit of strategy involved during harder battles then it is worth it for the combat and in that sense you'll find something to enjoy, but if you're not a SaGa fan, if you don't like SaGa, then you'll find no enjoyment in this game outside of the graphics and character designs.
Rogue Legacy. Good game. It does tend to overstay its welcome the more you play it as you start seeing similar procedurally generated maps that are very similar or the same to others you've seen, but the game is basically doing as well as you can each time you go into the castle, then leveling your character so you can progress further without dying.
Xeodrifter. It's an okay Metroid clone. The fact that you fight only one boss over and over is a bit annoying, but it's a great boss battle when you get all of your abilities and fight it at the end. It's pretty short so it can be completed in a day or two.
Spelunky. I've never beaten this, always start at the beginning whenever I play and I've only gotten to the fourth area. Despite never beating the game and as hard as it is, this is one of the best platformers I've played in a long time.
Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain. Incredibly overrated game. It's a good game, but it just has so much filler. Sooooo much filler. So much that many of the main missions are just like many of the side ops missions, go here, rescue these people, for what, just because we're getting paid to do it, and apparently we just happen to trip over something that moves the story along. This game overstays its welcome long before the end, and then after it overstays its welcome, you play another 20 hours and you still haven't finished the game.

Picked up 360 Battlefield Hardline for $8 last week and put some serious time in it when it first arrived, probably 30 hours, which is truly astonishing for me. I really enjoy it, 2nd behind BFBC2, like it a lot better than 3 or 4. Both of those were grindy messes where I'm inundated with attachments and gizmos and you have to sink major time in just to get something beyond the wet dishrag you begin with.

Debated on buying a map pack or two but decided against it. Main reason is you can't do anything with them offline, and I don't see them being easy to find games with so they could be useless purchases. The map pack implementation on BF is so splintered compared to CoD it really turns me against buying anything for it even though I would like to try their "kill confirmed" ripoff. The recently released free night maps suck.

On the opposite end of the spectrum I picked up a 60-in-1 iCade vertical JAMMA board for a shitty vertical cab I've been working on. I know I'm about 5 years too late on picking one of these up but at the current price of $35 I felt it was timely. Even though I just last week got a Pandora's Box 4 640-in-1 board I've found myself spending every second I can with this dumpy little 60-in-1. I've never really been an early 80's golden era arcade type of guy but somehow these have won me over. Busting high scores on Galaga, DK Jr., & Pac-Man has been time well spent. I am now a huge fan of Shaolin Road and Ladybug, neither of which I'd never even played before.

Blaster Master 2 for the Genesis.

The first Blaster Master is one of my favorite games, and I gave the sequel again a chance. Result: It IS a bad game! :) I played halfway through, and the developer (which didn't even know the first Blaster master) messed it up big time. The worst: The soundtrack! The second worst: the easy and very repetitive boss fights. The third worst: the unimaginative and USELESS power-ups.

It is just a bad game with bad gameplay and terribly boring level design.

GTA5 and Divinity Original Sin on PS4.

Divinity is really good and I'd recommend it, but I feel that it's massively unbalanced between regular battles and boss battles to where your party during boss battles you can literally have no way of winning before the first turn is even over with. I got so frustruated because of the issues with the balance with the bosses that I turned the difficulty to explorer and I haven't turned it back, even during regular battles. I'm not a fan of constantly swapping difficulty and save spamming. If they balanced the game better it'd be such an amazing game, but as it turns out it's just a really good game with some infuriating bs sprinkled in.

If you've liked previously Call Of Duty games, especially the Black Ops sub series, then you will most likely enjoy this one. Nazi Zombies is standard fare with the exception that you can now transform into a beast/creature to help make your killing easier for a brief period of time. Campaign and multiplayer are also pretty standard with the noticeable exception that you can now run on walls and jump all over the place, as in Titanfall and Halo. Those three series have been merging together with each successive entry. I fully expect Titanfall 2 to have actual Spartans and zombies in it.

That sucks about Sengoku 3. I really like that game a lot. Not sure if I prefer it or 2 at this point, but it's great either way. I haven't had that problem when I've tried it on my multicart, but I only played it for a few minutes on there, as I've had that whole series on AES for about 12 years, and have played the hell out of it already. Lately, all of my friends and family have finally figured out that Windjammers rules, so it's been getting most of the action on my cabinet instead of the multicart.

Been playing Shovel Knight on 3DS since it got a physical release. I like it. I beat the normal game in a day pretty easily, and have been clearing challenge stages, which seemed promising at first, but quickly devolved into timed boss fights. Still, it's a great little game that does the retro style better than most. It keeps most of its references subtle, has tight controls, and a fun little world to play in. The only place I can really criticize it is that it was super easy, mainly because it fell into the one big trap of many modern "hard" platformers: every area, boss, etc. tends to have a trick to it, be it a pattern or using a play mechanic (in this case shovel bouncing) to make it go from seemingly impossible to simple in a matter of seconds. Still, super cool, and a bargain at its $25 MSRP. Liked it enough to buy it for my brother in law for Christmas.

Started a new file on the original Harvest Moon on the SNES this morning with the intent of capturing the entire game.

I hooked up my found at flea market modded (original type) xbox to my LCD TV..using a component adapter that plugs into the xbox AV port/component wires to TV..
It's still blurry..

Trying to find a way to make the original xbox look better on a 42 inch LCD tv..

The console has a lot of arcade titles on it ...I came to realize that using a wireless gamepad to play these games is NO FUN..

I have wired arcade sticks but wires=kids tripping over them..

Do they make a Wireless arcade stick for the original xbox console..?

Been playing Dragon Quest Heroes on my PS4 lately. I've been enjoying it. I find Terry to be a bit of an asshole, but he can be funny at times too. Also playing Papers, Please on Steam.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta on the pstv. Looks god-awful on this thing. A pixelated jaggy mess. Still a very good game though.

Sony really treated the Vita and pstv like a bunch of amateurs. The whitelist hack proved Sony doesn't care and/or are just lazy. Why can't I play Drac-X on the pstv but I can on the Vita? Vice-versa with certain other games? Everyone involved should be sent to the unemployment line.

Yesterday I played through Super Castlevania, absolutely love it.

I'm currently wondering what to play next, and am thinking that I'm going to go with Super Metroid.

I'd put it at lazy completely. Even some games that maybe shouldn't have been exactly whitelisted due to the PS3 controller (they even packed in as a bundle) with a PS4 controller such games with the touch sensor are doable like Uncharted that needed it. They just didn't care nor want to lift a damn finger for a lot of games, even some that didn't even need a PS4 controller to pull stuff off which is why I do not own one and would buy a Vita again before I did.

As this is a games playing...lately like once a week I poke away for an hour or two original Quake thanks to that GoG deal a month ago or so. And I did put like 4 hours on Uncharted 1 (PS4) like 5 days ago, need to do it again but I get distracted bad with games these days. Today I got TRIP WORLD in the mail for Gameboy, damn fun little game, gets a little challenging in spots on World 3(of 5) but I do like it and it's a real eye/ear treat given it was made for old GB. Got fed up with it, then threw in another JP import - Samurai Spirits 3 and used my favorite of the game Shizumaru and racked up like 7-8 kills despite having some horrible trouble pulling off moves(d-pad not picking it up on my GBC no idea why.) Just put that down and ended up here.

I've been playing Dark Souls 2 Scholar's of the First Sin. The vanilla version released the same year as the next gen consoles and it was also rumored that it would receive a remastered release, so I held off on purchasing it. I purchased it this black friday for $16 and have really been enjoying it.

Dark Souls 2 is slightly slower than Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, it's not very prevailant, but there's problems with hit detection as I've seen arrows go through the edge of a wall, arrows hit mid air(a foot away from a wall,) and attacking, dodging, and blocking, what you see visually is not what is actually going to happen. There's like an integrated delay in the system is what I can think, because you are somewhere a second away from fully bringing up your shield or being out of attack range, but because you just got out of that range within that delay area, or your shield was pulled up before it hit you, you still take damage like you were there or your shield isn't up. It's really weird. It doesn't happen to often, but when it happens it's bs.

One thing I've heard that people don't like about the game and I have no problem with it is that the world feels like a bunch of areas just placed together, but they don't feel like they belong together. Example is one area you're in is a clear forest area, only for you to go through an underpass that takes 30 seconds to walk through to the other side, only for you to be in a mountainous area that's raining. and that area leads up to a castle in which it's no longer raining.

What I do like about Dark Souls 2 better than the others is the amount of content that's within the game. Dark Souls 2 has overall more options with more weapons, armor, consumables, and spells than any other game in the series, with all the weapons having a full set of attacks unlike the original Dark Souls with too many weapons having an incomplete moveset. The amount of areas, even if they don't seem to connect together, give so many different areas to explore, making what imo is by far the biggest game in the series. In terms of combat it's a bit worse than Demon's and Dark Souls, not as bad as Dark Souls when it comes to cheap deaths and not quite as balanced as Demon's Souls or Bloodborne, but the entire package makes this game just as enjoyable and in some ways even more enjoyable than the others.

I'm also getting Bloodborne the Old Hunters and will be playing that content next. I've played vanilla Bloodborne and despite not having as much content as any of the others in terms of exploration and overall content, my biggest disappointment about the game, vanilla Bloodborne has 18 unique weapons that are almost completely different from one another. In terms of combat, there's no game in the series that's as good as Bloodborne. The Old Hunters adds 11 more trick weapons making a total of 29 unique weapons in the game, not including guns and tools. So while it does lack the locations of every other game in the series, gameplay is better.
