Just installed a MAME emulator on my original Xbox. I installed Mameox, I found a ROM set off a website. For the most part a lot of the ROMs work ok but there are a lot of ones that don't, especially any Midway game like MK or NBA Jam for instance. Most 80s games work flawlessly but there are still a lot of ROMs with issues. Does anyone know of any good ROM sets I can download that might work better? Thanks in advance!

I haven't heard of any such problem recently, but there used to be a big problem with ROM compatibility changing between different versions of MAME. Sometimes the emulation for a particular machine would be changed slightly and the layout of the ROM files would also be adjusted, or a new, additional ROM on the arcade board would be dumped and included for enhanced compatibility.
So, you should either search for a ROM set that corresponds to your particular version of Mameox, or search for a newer version of Mameox. It's also possible that someone has created a tool for the specific purpose of adjusting the ROM files to make them compatible.

Try coinops 7 instead, it comes with roms and has better compatibility and still supported
Can't speak for NBA Jam but MK stutters and skips in all versions of Xbox MAME except for the very first one, MAME-X Beta. It plays MK1 almost flawlessly. For MK2 and on you're better off with the crappy emulation on the Midway Arcade Treasures discs.
A lot of Capcom and SNK stuff is better played under Final Burn than MAME also.
HyruleHero, no ROM talk here please. As per the forum FAQ (http://forum.digitpress.com/forum/faq.php):
Don't ask for ROMs, ISOs, or pirated games in general
Out of respect to retrogaming stores, game developers, and growing legal concerns, discussion about the obtaining of illegal ROMs is prohibited. Illegal ROMs are defined as any ROM, regardless of age, that has been copyrighted in the past 100 years. Threads discussing the location or acquiring of ROMs and/or illegal (pirated) software will be locked per the discretion of a forum moderator or administrator. To avoid legal issues, "gray area" threads dealing with emulation may also be locked. As companies continue to release retro games through virtual releases or retro gaming packs for modern gaming systems, the threat of getting a cease-and-desist order grows. In order to preserve the gaming community we've all worked so hard to build, we ask that you respect Digital Press and refrain from the discussion of illegal ROMs.
