I'm up to Chapter 8 (or maybe it was 9?) in Saku's route in Gakuen Club on PC. I can't precisely remember when the love confessions came in the routes I cleared previously, but this one felt like it came much earlier, which is great because I was beginning to get a little annoyed with all the "what is this feeling?", "I must just be a bother to you", "he can't possibly mean it that way", etc. etc. Just accept that you have feelings for the other person and that they have feelings for you, dammit, haha. After two and a half routes completed, I'm assuming the shopping trip at the mall and the school festival appear in every route, but so far at least, the details vary enough to keep these common events from being a chore after completing multiple routes.

Showing my kids how to play DUCK HUNT .....Zapper ...

Heh, I showed my kid Duck Hunt for the first time a few weeks ago. Later at dinner (without any input from me on the matter) he said, "When he laughed I tried to shoot that doggie"...which is, of course, the correct response.

He also got a kick out of watching me play Adventure for the Atari 2600. He thought it was absolutely hilarious that the bat kept taking my stuff.

I'm a few more chapter into Saku's route in Gakuen Club on PC, but it's probably been a good week or more since I played that. Instead, I'm getting back into Harvest Moon 64 on N64 after not touching it for I assume months. I'm now a few days before the end of the second summer. I'm still trying to figure out how the heck to get married. Ann's been at the highest affection level for a while now. Apparently, each girl has a scene where they confess their feelings and ask the protagonist to give them a blue feather, and I could've seen it a while back with Ann, but I was always visiting the ranch in the morning, not in the afternoon or evening when the scene triggers, haha. I stumbled across the scene when heading to the Firefly Festival at the beach, which takes place at night. I thought "Great, now I can buy the blue feather", but I have no idea who sells it or where, haha. I believe there was a seller who showed up only on Sundays in the first Harvest Moon, but on the only Sunday I've had since I saw the event with Ann, it was raining, so I don't know if that affected anything. I guess I'll have to keep looking, but the days zip by so fast that I never have enough time to check thoroughly. I'm also considering the possibility that I may need certain home extensions before marriage is possible, which is part of the reason I never have enough time, since I'm grinding for lumber every day in the mountains. I still don't have a kitchen, so maybe that's the problem.

I'm also trying out new Vita acquisitions as they come in. I briefly played a little Tokyo Tattoo Girls, Summon Night 6, Axiom Verge, and Dungeon Hunter Alliance. I ordered a few more on Cyber Monday too, since I found some nice deals, so I'll have to try those out soon as well. It's really fun collecting for this system.

I expected "Daaaaad...this is soooo booooriiiinnnnggggg" but instead he got really into it.

The only thing I've really been playing recently is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(2003 GameCube). I've never played it before so didn't really know what to expect, it's not without it's flaws but it's not too bad. Me and my kid had been playing TMNT 2 and the arcade game(mamecab) as well as Turtles in Time, then he recently discovered I had a TMNT game upstairs "on the big TV" so we've been playing it on the weekends. (He's really into TMNT currently if you can't tell ;))

Decided to try out the Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton game after recently playing the original Phoenix Wright game. It is fine, but I'm not spending a lot of time with it.

Still playing STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl. Game was kicking my butt; I'm not great at FPS, so I tried a couple mods and with the Complete mod, it is really fun for me.

My 11 y.o. son has really been wanting to play some co-op games with me, but there never seems to be time. Plus he really kind of sucks at gaming if it isn't Minecraft or Roblox, so I've been unfortunately reluctant to try some classic co-op games. Recently, though, we started playing Secret of Mana together, and while there are some frustrations, it is still lots of fun and he's really into it. He plays hockey, though, so in the middle of the season things are slow-going for game progress.

Did you play the DS version? And if so did you play the bonus episode after the main game? I only ask because I almost missed it, and would have if I didn't watch the credits.

Yes, I did! I'm in the habit of watching credits and was really surprised the game wasn't over, especially since I had sort of thought it was over two times before that, though I was going to be pretty disappointed the first time I thought it was over.

For all its similarities to the SNES game, which I know inside and out, Harvest Moon 64 on N64 keeps perplexing me. I caved and confirmed online my suspicions: that my lack of a kitchen prevented me from having access to the blue feather. So I finally saved up enough wood, had to wait a few days for the dang carpenter's hut to be open, got my kitchen built, found where to buy the blue feather fairly easily (no special shopkeeper, just at the regular tools shops), and then used it on Ann. It made the sparkles like when impregnating a cow, haha, and her response was weird? She acted confused and flustered, but never gave any solid confirmation that she'd marry the protagonist. The feather got used up, and I can't buy another, so I don't know what is going on. In subsequent days, things are going as normal, and she's behaving and talking as if nothing happened. So I don't know, maybe they're waiting till the next Sunday to have the wedding? I'm just a few days from my second winter, and I really want the marriage part to be done. I'm especially worried about that dang drifter, Cliff, stealing my woman, haha. Ann's brother, Gray, and Popuri even got married, which scared the heck out of me, since Gray came to the farm to ask the protagonist to come to the wedding, but he didn't specifically say it was HIS wedding, so I was worried that he was inviting me to a wedding for Ann and Cliff. Assuming I can get the wedding over with before autumn is over, that still only leaves me with three seasons for them to have a child, but I already have the carpenter's building a baby bed. And at least I won the Egg Festival this time around, haha.

Whoo-hoo, I am wed in Harvest Moon 64 on N64. :) I was right; it was a simple matter of waiting for the next Sunday (which ended up being the very last day of autumn, preventing me from shipping out a bunch of eggplants, haha). Now it's the usual slow winter crawl. Still gotta grind for wood, though. A greenhouse is the last thing I need from the carpenters (though it'll be kinda useless, getting it so close to the end). I had been assuming I had two and half years like in the SNES game, but I learned that the evaluation actually comes after the third spring. Before I had been kind of eager to finish the game, but now I'm a little sad it's almost over, haha. Unlike the SNES game, you can keep going past the ending, but I don't see much point in doing so if it's not counting toward anything. I'm more inclined to just start fresh, which I definitely want to do someday. I haven't done the greatest with this first file, as I've struggled with trying to play it as if it were the SNES game (my first summer was all but a disaster with me failing to understand fatigue and sickness + getting like three typhoons). The differences really do make a BIG difference, and this game is deceptive about just how much depth lies beneath. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of all that can be done with the townspeople. I thought everyone but the love interests were useless, minus their basic tasks of selling goods and what have you, but apparently pretty much everyone has an affection level, and if you befriend them, you get all sorts of scenes. It think it'd be really fun to replay this in the future after reading up on all the secrets and best strategies.

I'm saved at the beginning of the Happy End of Saku's route in Gakuen Club on PC, so I'll have his route finished off in no time. Then I'll be halfway done with the game.

Nothing much new to report about Harvest Moon 64 on N64. I think I'm about a third of the way through my second winter now? The mine has opened up again, but I don't see much point in mining. As far as I know, I've already found every type of mineral available, and I haven't been hurting for money for a long time. I'm just taking it slow now because I can't do too many winter days in a row before it gets a little tiresome.

On Vita, I tried out Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star and Persona 4: Dancing All Night.

I finished off both endings for Saku's route in Gakuen Club on PC, and then I started up my fourth route, Wataru Kagurazaka's. Maybe it's just my imagination, but it felt like chapters in Saku's were, on average, longer than in the previous two routes I did. I went through Wataru's first chapter, and it felt like it was over in the blink of an eye.

In Harvest Moon 64 on N64, I'm now through most of my second winter. I decided to return to mining after all, since I read there was still a power berry and a unique item in there. I managed to find the former, but the latter still eludes me. I've won both the horse and dog race now, plus the Cow Festival. But I guess I won't get another shot at the swimming competition if there isn't a third summer before the ending. I missed the first one due to sickness and lost the second. I allllllmost have enough wood for the greenhouse, but Ann still isn't pregnant. I don't know how long pregnancy lasts in this Harvest Moon (and I can't remember how long it lasted in the first either; if it were realistic, it'd have to be three seasons, but I'm pretty sure it was less than that), but I'm worried now that even if she gets pregnant soon, she still might not have given birth by the time the ending comes, which makes me feel like I dropped the ball with this file all the more. In the first Harvest Moon, you can have two children (though the second never advances beyond being a baby), and even in my very first file in that game, I managed to get one kid.

I'm a couple days into my third spring and final season before the ending in Harvest Moon 64 on N64. While she hasn't said it outright, it's pretty obvious that Ann is pregnant now, as she's talking about feeling strange and not having an appetite and such. Plus, the midwife in town is like "Don't worry. I'll be there for the baby." I'm just assuming at this point that the baby won't be born before the ending. I finally got a greenhouse, completing all the home extensions. Man, this thing changes everything. I expected it to be small on the inside, with only enough room to plant a few patches of crops, but it's huge. Since time doesn't move while inside buildings, I can tend to the animals and work my crops until the protagonist is completely drained of energy before the morning is even over. Then I can spend the rest of the day talking to villagers, seeing if I can trigger anything interesting before the ending comes. My dog had puppies with the dog in town, and it seems like Karen and Kai left the village permanently? I'm still waiting to see if Popuri has a kid or if any of the others get married, but nothing seems to be changing in that regard, despite the mailman talking about confessing his feelings to Maria (which is weird anyway because he looks waaaaaay older than her).

The last week or so of 2017 was pretty insane for me, not even counting the usual busyness with the holidays, so that really threw a monkey wrench in what I had hoped to accomplish gaming-wise before the year was over and in what I've been playing. I had been hoping to polish off Harvest Moon 64, but I haven't even played that since my last post about it. Since I got sick, I pulled out my Game Boy Advance SP per my norm (so I can play something in bed but not gunk up my more modern handhelds with clammy hands), and since I got the second and third Final Fantasy Legend games for Christmas, there was no better time to start the former. I've collected about 20 MAGI so far, and I'm currently collecting all the MAGI in Ki's body, which has to be one of the weirder tasks I've had to do in an RPG. I have a party consisting of a male human, a female mutant, a robot, and a monster. Just like with the first Final Fantasy Legend, I'm not finding the monster all that useful. The robot seemed really good at first, but now not so much. Maybe I'm not using it properly.

Besides that, I've been playing some Gakuen Club on PC here and there. Wataru's entire route flew by. It had a little bit of that weird mood whiplash and illogical reactions so common in The Charming Empire, probably because it wasn't as evenly paced as Saku's route. Anyway, now I'm on Chapter 4 in Renji Kamiki's route. At this rate, I'm not terribly far off from having the entire game 100% completed.

Catching up on past-generation games. Recently playing Saints Row The Third, Far Cry 3 and DmC on one PC. Then my wife and I are playing Little Big Planet 2 on her PS3. Also playing Tekken Tag 2 and DOA 5 on that system. Then, for more current ish, playing PAKO and Cuphead on the other PC. Then the wife is still playing League of Legends on her laptop. This has been spread out over the past six months or so, just in case anyone is trying to figure out how anyone would have time for this nonsense

I'm now up to Chapter 9 in Renji's route in Gakuen Club on PC. I feel like they wrote the heroine a little too ditzy and clumsy in this route, to the point it's feeling repetitive, but I do like how they presented things a little differently in how the usual shopping trip and school festival go.

In Final Fantasy Legend II on my Game Boy Advance SP, I've collected 35 MAGI now, I think, and I just got to my fifth(?) world. I was a little taken aback when I arrived, since the vine didn't lead to a world map but rather directly into a closed off town. I opened a secret door in the bar and then guards appeared out of nowhere, throwing me into a jail. Haven't seen where I can get to after that, since I tried to save in there and the game somehow crashed. I saved in town, so there's not much of anything to repeat, but it's still weird. This is the second time the game has crashed on me. The previous time, I had just started a regular random battle and it locked up. It wouldn't respond to any button input and wouldn't open the menus for making battle selections. My GBA SP has gotten slightly flaky in recent years, so I dunno if it's related to that or if the game is just a little glitchy.

I finished the main story of MeiQ and was given a metal crest for post game adventures. I finished it and now find out that I can't access other question locations unless I now play a NG+ on higher difficulties. Thankfully, everything carries over so I can use the same save game and character levels, but all the progress I have concerning the in game quests get reset back. This is a major pain as the current quest I have been given requires NG+, but if I do that, everything gets reset back to zero. And to make matters even worse, there is a NG++ with more in game quests. And I need to do all quests for the trophy. Such a pain.

Anyone who has played this game have a runaround for this?

For no particular reason I yanked Final Fantasy XII (PS2) out and started playing it again. Helps that I actually can farm goodies somewhat competently now. I've been having an internal debate on whether or not to tear through Dragon's Dogma DA again for the 360 or get a copy for my PS3 that will soon be mated up to the flatscreen that appeared in my life. I'm on Chapter 12 in Renji's route in Gakuen Club now. I feel like chapters in this route are a little bit longer than in Wataru's, but still not as long as in Saku's. Makes it easy to blow through a couple chapters each morning as I have my tea and breakfast.

In Final Fantasy Legend II on my Game Boy Advance SP, I was done with the world containing the Guardians base in no time, and the next barely counted as a "world" with how little it had. Now, with 42 MAGI, I'm on the world ruled by Venus, which has a whopping 17 MAGI to collect. I explored Venus's town, stopped by the town full of outcasts, and then got my butt royally kicked in the sewers. I tried opening a treasure chest, but it contained monsters (first time I've seen that in this game), and even with Odin reviving me over and over, I just couldn't manage to ever beat them. I was just too unprepared, so I ended up having to simply turn off the game. I've never made a point to grind so far (which is usually a bad idea in SaGa games, anyway), but maybe I should do a little so that I can at least buy a couple more better pieces of equipment.

I'm sitting at the Normal End version of the last chapter in Renji's route in Gakuen Club on PC, so I'm nearly done with this route too. I like how this route has had a bit of a different focus than the others. The whole rankings in the nightclub and the favor granted to the winner business is a total afterthought here, instead focusing on Renji's concert. The one thing that kind of bugs me is how they make the headmaster seem impossible just to meet with, even though he was fairly accessible in the other routes.

As for Final Fantasy Legend II on my Game Boy Advance SP, everything fell into place pretty well after I got through the sewers. Though, I did end up fleeing the monsters for a decent portion of the volcano, since I had totally run out of ways to heal my party. Then there was a long (for this game) cutscene with Flora, Nils, and Leon, and Venus went down pretty easy. With that, I'm up to 59 MAGI and ready to move on to the next world. I'm guessing there's only one or two worlds left, since there are only 18 MAGI to go until I have all 77.

Whoohoo, only one route left in Gakuen Club on PC! I finished off Renji's and then started up Yuya Yamaoka's. I have to admit that I am losing a little steam, but I think it's more visual novel fatigue in general than growing sick of this specific game. It's still nothing remarkable at all, but it's nice game to just turn my brain off and relax with. Playing a visual novel and an RPG at the same time probably isn't the wisest idea for me. I'm starting to crave something with more action, but I want to get these finished off before I start up anything new.

As for said RPG, I guess Final Fantasy Legend II has more life left in it than I thought. After Venus's world having so many MAGI, I expected the following world(s) to have a good number too. But the next world literally had nothing but one town, and the only thing to do there was a "race" (more like a dungeon with a single, linear path). I cleared that, got the four MAGI in that world, and moved on to the next, which also only has four, except this is a much bigger world that's based on Edo, Japan. The theme is a little dull, in my opinion. There are a bajillion games based on historical Japan, and I play RPGs like SaGa and Final Fantasy for fantasy worlds. Well, no matter, it's just one of many in this game. And I am wondering why bananas are apparently illegal in this world, haha.

My progress in Final Fantasy Legend II on my Game Boy Advance SP has ground to a halt. After clearing Edo, I moved on to a world that has nothing but a single dungeon, called "Nasty Dungeon", haha. By that, they mean it's a real trial to get through, not that it's a gross environment. I got the world's single MAGI at the entrance, so I guess the dungeon is optional? But I don't want to just skip it. I've been chipping away at it, but so far, before I even get halfway through (I hear it's got eight floors), my robot is totally out of attacks (even though I've got like three different weapons on him; I really don't want to sacrifice another piece of armor, and in turn defense, to put on a fourth weapon), and I've exhausted my healing items. I don't even bother buying curing potions anymore, since you only get four uses for each item slot. This game is a battle with menu space, so now I just get a couple Cure spells, which give me a total of 60 uses. My mana on everyone but the robot is good enough that they can all heal well with the Cure spell. My robot barely takes any damage anyway (with the armor I've got equipped), but there's a little trick you can abuse to heal robots for free.

It's been over two months since I last played it, but I loaded up Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome on PC again. I think I left off pretty close to the end of Miki's route, but it's hard to say. Some of these romance visual novels end right with the characters confessing their feelings, others go for a long time with the characters as a couple.

I'm still hung up on the Nasty Dungeon in Final Fantasy Legend II on my Game Boy Advance SP. I'm just doing run after run, trying to inch my way a little farther each time and hoping I get some stat increases along the way (which mostly only come on the first floor or two, since the farther I get in, the more frequently I end up running away from battles). At least I can clear over half now. And maybe it's just my imagination, but I feel like some of the later floors have easier random battles on the average than earlier ones.

I also finally tried out my Secret Santa PSP games, after having a little drama with my PSP itself. It's probably been at least a couple years since I last used it, and when I started it up, it was just not attempting to load any UMDs whatsoever. I was freaking out a little, thinking my UMD drive totally died on me, which would really hurt because I love this Star Ocean limited edition PSP that I imported at its launch almost exactly ten years ago. Thankfully, it turned out to be the same issue I've had for years with this PSP, just in a worse form, so I was able to resolve it in the same easy manner. The metal prongs on the UMD door seem to compress over time, which makes the UMD sit in there looser, and it doesn't properly push against the button that indicates the tray is closed. In the past, that meant my games would occasionally pause on a screen asking if I wanted to quit the game, because it thought the tray popped open mid-game. This time, the prongs must've compressed so much in all the time it was unused that it wasn't making contact with that button at all, not even to start up a game. But just bending the prongs outward with tweezers or a pen or such does the trick, getting it back in proper working order until they eventually compress again months or some such later. So crisis averted, I played through the tutorial of PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe, and then I played a bit of Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology. Both seem like a lot of fun, and I really should get back into more PSP gaming in general. It's kinda funny how even though I've been so fixated on the Vita and built up a collection over twice as big as my PSP collection, I still like the PSP more.

The problem with old RPGs like Final Fantasy Legend II is that it can be difficult to tell in-game what items do, and I also don't have the manual for this game, which I hear is pretty hefty. I don't want to spoil everything, but I did read up a little about how to build stats and what various items do. I got the Aegis MAGI after defeating Venus, and I had thus far been ignoring it, even though MAGI can be equipped. Most MAGI are of generic types that you get a bunch of, and their uses are pretty obvious (Power, Defense, Speed, Mana, Fire, Ice, etc.) And with the unique ones, I figured out what most do quickly (Prism shows how many MAGI remain in a world, Pegasus warps you to previously visited locations, etc.) But Aegis doesn't have a use within the menu. It turns out that it adds a battle option to whoever has it equipped. It's basically an infinite use shield that works for the entire battle after being used, not just that round, and it nullifies elemental attacks and significantly reduces the damage of physical attacks. In other words, it's ridiculously good. I put it on my monster, who has the highest agility of the party, so it tends to go first. It's making a world of difference in Nasty Dungeon, both in getting farther in and in not having to run away too often. That said, once I get really deep into the dungeon, the monsters seem to have higher agility than all of my party members, and they beat on my party pretty bad before Aegis can be used. So I may have to come up with some other strategies before I have this dungeon licked, but for now, Aegis is helping a lot.

This topic is turning into my own personal blog or something. :p

It felt like it took absolutely forever, but I FINALLY cleared Nasty Dungeon in Final Fantasy Legend II on my Game Boy Advance SP. After the Aegis MAGI, the next thing that made a big difference for me was my female mutant learning a skill that resists physical damage. I also, in a total derp moment, learned I can reorder my characters' skills (again, having the manual would've helped). Since mutants only have their last skill listed change, I moved the Damage skill up higher so I could preserve it. (I wish I had done this during the brief time I had the Heal skill.) Even though she has half the HP of my male human, I put her as the party leader, who seems to take a lot more hits than the rest of the party. So the damage she was taking wasn't too bad, and she's resistant to a bunch of elemental stuff to begin with, even before Aegis activates. So with her acting as my tank, keeping the others from taking too many hits, it allowed me to just barely squeak my way out to the end of the dungeon. Now I'm sitting on the world map of the next world.

I'm not really playing anything all that much. Odyssey with my son when we can, but that's not much lately. I also popped in Bayonetta (1) on WiiU, so I've added that on top of Princess Peach, Mario RPG, and the somewhat abandoned Secret of Mana (also playing this with son). I've been more interested in some TV lately, so not much progress. (I did finish Halt and Catch Fire, and am caught up on Expanse and Doctor Who as far as Prime allows, so maybe more gaming if my mood flips to that).

I assume I'm sitting right at the cusp of beating Final Fantasy Legend II on my Game Boy Advance SP. I kicked Odin's butt (which means I can no longer be revived) and quickly left his world. Final Dungeon (that's literally what it's called in-game) was nothing compared to Nasty Dungeon, and I've gathered all the MAGI. I still have to get through a whole series of staircases, with random battles, so this is more like the actual final dungeon than what they named as such. I was expecting to have this polished off days ago, but first I had to retreat because I was out of healing items, and then when I made another attempt, a random battle took me by surprise and killed off my whole party.

For the last week Ive been playing Fishing Planet on PS4, and its such a fantastic game.
Its a fishing game (obviously) where u catch fish in freshwater locations arcoss the USA and Canada. Now its gonna be a game that you either love or hate; and personally I love it because I love freshwater fishing.
Its a game thats free to download and play (if youve got PSN), and there are add-ons you can buy that will make the game alot easier in the beginning.
You can go fishing with your online friends or with other random players, and there are online competitions as well. It is a grinder type of game and you have to level up in order to catch the better/larger fish. It is a very time consuming game, but its very much worth checking out.

Yeah I got the 'good' ending by myself, but I think to get the true good ending you need to do it with 2 players.

Since my last post in this topic, I beat Final Fantasy Legend II and Donkey Kong Country 3, both on my Game Boy Advance SP, and I'm still chipping away at the latter. I beat DKC3 while I was sick with the flu, and now that I'm mostly over it, I'm playing less each day, since I'm trying to get back into all my normal activities. I tried to get as many bonus coins and DK coins as I could my first time through, but there's inevitably a bunch I miss. So after the first K. Rool fight, I went back through each area, getting what I missed, and worked on the last, secret area. Now I'm up to the true final boss fight. Beyond that, I just have some more banana birds to get. I'm been putting off some of the ones from the mini-games added to the GBA port. Man, do these mini-games stiiiiink.

I haven't been playing that much since getting better. Too much work and such to catch up on. But I did totally finish off Donkey Kong Country 3 on my Game Boy Advance SP. Thank goodness Swanky Kong didn't want me to collect every last star in the Sonic 2 mini-game rip-off to get his banana bird. Though I can't comprehend why they'd give Swanky Kong a new mini-game when he already had a perfectly acceptable one in the original, which was actually relevant to the game in that it featured the same kind of gameplay as in the snowman boss fight. In this version, you're just thrown for a loop when you get into that battle. What was a pain was having to clear all of Funky Kong's crappy mini-games to get his.

Since finishing off that, I opened up Steam again for the first time in over a month and did a few more chapters in Yuya's route in Gakuen Club. They seem a little longer than they'd typically run in most of the other routes. The writing has been kinda iffy in this route.

I also started up the Secret of Mana remake on my Vita (also bought a physical copy for PS4). It honestly doesn't run very well on Vita. The frame rate is pretty choppy and fluctuates. But I hear it gets better once you're in areas that aren't loaded with water. Plus, I hear all the versions have issues (PS4 players are getting lots of crashes), so hopefully Square Enix will patch them all soon. That said, I'm still having plenty of fun with it. It's basically a 1:1 remake of the original, just with different aesthetics. I'm not sure how I feel about the voice acting. I'm using the Japanese voices since the English ones are cringey, and while I have no problems with the Japanese acting, my brain is still kinda expecting the characters to be silent like in the original. Of course, I could just turn the voices off, but I don't want to pass on experiencing the game in new ways. Anyway, so far I'm up to Neko's house.

Thanks! Hopefully I can stay virus-free for a while now, haha. I always enjoy reading your posts too. :)

As for my gaming, I'm about 6 hours into the Secret of Mana remake on my Vita, as I mentioned in another topic. I just recovered the mana seed that was taken from the Water Palace. It's around this point in the game, including in the original, where I always get sick of feeling like I'm going in circles, endlessly traveling back and forth between the Water Palace, Pandora, and Gaia's Navel. If memory serves, I get to move on to new areas soon, so I'm looking forward to that.

I've been slowly chipping away at Yuya's route in Gakuen Club on PC too, just wanting to have the game as a whole finally polished off. I'm currently up to Chapter 10.

I just got my third batch of magic in the Secret of Mana remake on Vita. The Upper Land is a pretty decent jump in difficulty, and the bright side of that is that it forces me to actually use my magic outside of boss battles, gaining some levels in the process, on top of the character and weapon level-ups I was getting.

I'm up to Yuya's Normal End in Gakuen Club on PC. Just gotta read through that, run through his route once or twice more to choose the other options and unlock the Happy End, and then I'll finally have another visual novel 100% completed.

I fully finished off Gakuen Club on PC, so now I've totally wrapped up both of OperaHouse's localized games. Why I've focused on these when I've got plenty of better otome visual novels to complete, I don't know. I guess because these were easier to play in very short spurts. Even though The Charming Empire has the more interesting premise, I'd definitely say Gakuen Club is the better written game. Not that I finished on a particularly high note. I probably caught more mistakes in Yuya's route than any other, and the story progression was slightly nonsensical at parts (but nothing like in The Charming Empire). The ending was the most perplexing of all. They just randomly switch the perspective to Yuya, and then halfway through that last chapter, they switched back to the protagonist. I mean, I've seen other VNs do this, but never this inelegantly.

Anyway, with that done, I'm switching my focus back to Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome again. It's kinda hilarious how close I was to Miki's ending when I last left off. Apparently, I was at the beginning of the very last scene. So I read through that, finally got a proper ending in the game, and started up a new file, probably to pursue Saito, unless I run into more bad endings first. As far as my story progress percentages go, the overall story is over 50%, Miki is over 70%, and Saito is over 40%.

I haven't made too much more progress in the Secret of Mana remake on my Vita. I only got up to the desert before my battery needed recharging.

I decided to take Rogue Galaxy out for another spin after another 100 hour bout of FF12 insanity. I spent most of my vacation tearing my through it, got to the final planet and I'm cooling off a bit before the weapon grind complete burns me out. I'm running Castlevania: Symphony of the Night as a palate cleanser and I'm still surprised at how engaging this game can be. I hope to wrap up both soon so I can go ahead and start on the stack of impulse buy RPGs sitting here. I'm thinking Vandal Hearts next.

I'm playing Zelda: BotW again. I played it originally on the WiiU, but I plan to get the DLC, and figured now that I have a Switch I maybe should get the DLC on it, so that means playing it again. And that's not a problem, because this game is really damn good. Buying the same game for another console sucks, but I've done it for every other Zelda game, so there wasn't any real doubt about it anyway. Plus, it is Zelda and I'm powerless to resist. All other games I was playing are solidly on the backburner with the flame off.

The break I took from Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome on PC has done a lot for boosting my motivation to play it. It's a very nice change of pace after focusing on a visual novel where they make it out as if holding hands is scandalous and where the writing feels like it could just as well be marketed at preteens. With Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome, the writing is leagues better, the localization is better, and everything is a heck of a lot more mature, for obvious reasons. I've really been enjoying getting back to it. I just wish I had more time to play. My main story percentage is now over 55%, Saito is over 50%, and Miki has nearly hit 75%. I got a couple more bad endings, which were endings 6 and 7, though I've strangely missed 5 somehow. As far as I can tell, the bad endings are more or less in chronological order of availability, but maybe I'm wrong.

I am re-playing Mass Effect because the first one was not available for PS3 until Dec 2012, after the release of ME3 and only played it once to experience what I missed.

The game is very good and I finished it a few weeks ago and had most missions done but I need to finish it on Insanity so I need at least one more run that I started yesterday as a new game + to get the level 60 trophy ;)

I've also been trying out Vita games from Limited Run Games as they show up. I tried out a little Volume, Skullgirls, Croixleur Sigma, and Sky Force Anniversary. They all seem like they'd be fun to put some more time into, though the weird blurriness of Skullgirls kinda bugs me.

Finally wound up starting on Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. I already think that this is the game that Lament of Innocence should have been. Leaving the Innocent Devils and crafting aside, getting to choose a combat style beyond "whip that has fire or whip that has lightning" and a decent experience system really help a lot. I've been preparing for a trip among other things, so I'm still barely having any time for gaming. All I can squeeze in is Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome on PC in the mornings during breakfast. I now have both Saito and the main story over 67%, and Miki's percentage increased a tiny bit to just over 75%. If I'm remembering the numbers right, I got endings 10 and 13, so now I have all sorts of gaps and no idea where the other bad endings are. Maybe they're within the third route that's only unlocked after both Miki and Saito's routes are cleared.

I decided to get back into Skyward Sword. I started it last summer and got to what feels like maybe about 1/3 of the way through but when we sold our house and moved, I put it down and hadn't picked it back up since. I was at a pretty clean stopping point in the the story, so that wasn't a problem as far as remembering what to. It took me a while to relearn the controls though. Still frustrated at the gyro sensor being used for the menus.

I'm staying with family for the month, while also helping my mom get her two properties in shape so she can move into one and get the other rented, so I've barely had any time for gaming. I did play a tiny bit of Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball on SNES, and to use the game's wording, I got flattened, haha. It a fun game (it's basically Baseball Stars), but I stink at it. It'd probably help if I better understood the sport of baseball as a whole, haha. I also played a handful of NES games via emulation on our Raspberry Pi, like Dig Dug, Burgertime, Kirby's Adventure, etc. The reason we brought that along is because, with my mom moving, it's time I finally work on clearing out my game stuff that's still here. My collection has been split across the east and west coast for well over a decade now, and while the shipping costs sting, the prospect of having all my games in one place is exciting. So while I haven't been playing much, I've been digging through all sorts of systems, games, and their boxes and packing things up for mailing. I've already packed over 60 pounds worth, with more to go.

I am playing (at various times) the two advance wars on gameboy (on my gamecube) and Nectaris on my PS1. Just playing with different scenarios rather than playing the campaigns on Advance Wars - and you don't need to play the campaigns (once you have finished them once) to access any of the scenarios in Nectaris. One of the biggest drawbacks with the Advance Wars games is that you can't access the campaign battles individually.

The New Zealand Story Arcade

It's got me hooked..

The NewZealand Story (ニュージーランドストーリー Nyū Jīrando Sutōrī) is a 1988 arcade game developed and published by Taito. The player controls Tiki (ティキ), a kiwi who must save his lover Phee Phee (ピューピュー) and several of his other kiwi chick friends who have been kidnapped by a large blue leopard seal. The player has to navigate a scrolling maze-like level, at the end of which they release one of Tiki's kiwi chick friends trapped in a cage. Finally, the game's concept and setting comes from a holiday trip in New Zealand by one of Taito programmers.
