I was at a Thrift Store today and they had a Atari 2600 in it's actual box. I hadn't seen that box since the late 70's early 80's, and I was kinda suprised to see that somebody still had their old box for it. It's the Model # CX-2600. The one that came with COMBAT.

It has a date of 1978 on it, but it does say A Warner Communications Company on it, and I thought that they bought Atari after 1978, so it must be more recent then 1978.

The box isn't in mint condition, but it still is in relatively good condition.

Is this worth anything? I figured that the box was probably worth more than the system inside.

Not really sure but I have seen classic system boxs, and game boxs/instructions go for some decent prices on ebay, so you mite wanna to spend some time checking ebay out a bit.

I'd pick it up if i were you (if the price is right). I once bought a boxed atari (box was for sears tele games six switch system) and the box was in very very bad shape with writing on it and all. I took it down to CGE2k3 since i don't collect atari (asides from my two signed nolan bushnell atari systems) and i sold just the box for 5 bucks... a very beat up box. So i say if the price is right, buy it... boxes can double the price on things ya know, if not more then double... but only some things.

It would be worth something to me! Pick it up. I'll give you $10 for it, and you could probably get more if the condition is up to spec.
