View Full Version : Ames sale
If you haven't already noticed, Ames is having a going out of business sale. All games seem to be 30% off, and accessories are 25%. However, they've jacked up the original prices so it's more like 5-10% off. : (
The weird thing is, the Ames near me has loads and loads of Game Gear games! I'm assuming they're all the Majesco re-releases, but it was just neat to see so many brand new GG games like that. I didn't buy any because they're $20 each (30% off = $14). Are any of them even worth that? More importantly, since they don't seem to be moving, will Ames lower prices even further as the sale comes to an end?

No, and No.
They are the original releases (At my store anyways) Ames has always carried them, but rarely displayed them. They must have bought a TON of game gear games at some point....
And, No, I don't think they will lower their price to a reasonable level, they'll just sell off the extra's wholsale to someone. K-Mart had Pikachu Snap (Or whatever it was) for $40 after discounts up until the very day it closed.

Roger that here in Maine, Keir... Both on the prices AND on the Game Gear games. Maybe they had back stock in the warehouses & shipped 'em out to all the stores to clear it out?

They can't even go out of business correctly.
Jeez, Their going out of business clearance prices are still almost 2x as high as Best Buy, Sears, and Circuit City clearance sales. Even EBWorld is cheaper.
This is why they're going out of business no doubt.

I actually managed to get a couple gamecube games VERY cheap there a week or 2 ago. $50.00 brand new and they were 20-25% off. It's worth a check at any rate.

Ames stores went out of business (again) here in Ohio about 6 months ago. They were way overpriced all the way until the end...their Battlebots toys actually went up in price the last week they were in the stores!!! Glad they are gone again (they went out of business about 10 years ago as well).

I'm hoping all the old Ames stuff hits Mehndolson's in Dayton, a great warehouse place where you can buy everything from party hats to meat lockers... they had a load of SNES games for $2.50 each...I went back 6 times over a 3 month period before they finally ran out of titles I didn't have, buying 3-4 per time...
