This is mainly a question geared towards the European gamers, but if anyone that knows anything that could help me I would be grateful.
I have found a Canadian site that has free world-wide shipping for all the games that aren't coming out in the UK for ages, in particular Animal Crossing, which doesn't even have a scheduled european release yet.
My question: what is the best way of getting import games to work on a Gamecube?

You can't. Not at the moment. The utility discs "Freeloader" and the Action Replay from Datel are STILL in the pipeline... the release dates keep get put back. Whether it's due to not being able to make the discs, pressure from Nintendo or what... PAL gamers may NEVER be able to play foreign games on their machine. We'll see...

I believe that my brother got a message from one of the freeloader sellers that the freeloaders will be shipped in the first week of october.

That's one of a number of dates I've had as well... it doesn't affect me as I have a Jap modded to US GC, but it does affect everyone else I know. So much so at least one mate is thinking of trading in for a US GC instead...

Question: Modding a japanese gamecube to american is easy. Anyone know how to do it the other way around? I have an american gamecube, and I'd LOVE to put myself a region switch on the side.

Yes... have a look on the web. It is VERY similar to the Jap to US mod, you just need to put the wires in a slightly different place.

The freeloader is being sold by codejunkies now:
http://www.codejunkies.com/shop/product.asp?ProdID=142&CountryID=GB
It says it will be released September 2002. Hmm, it seems to be available there, despite nobody else having a clue when it'll be released.
The link for the online ship with free shipping is this as well if anyone's interested:
http://www.dvdboxoffice.com
It sells most new games for about £33, which is 7 cheaper than a new one anyway. They have wavebirds too, and shipping is still free.
