Do you have to pay a monthly fee to use the phone? Does it run off your home-phone? How does this all work?

I am confused.

It's a standard cell phone that works like any other cell phone, monthly fee based.

http://www.t-mobile.com/

pick one.

Otherwise I believe it is $9.99 per month just for gaming service until December 2004. Home phones and cell phones are two completely different entities and will appear on different bills unless you have the same provider. (Ex. I have a sprint cell phone plan and I used to have sprint long distance for my home phone.)

Wait, what do you mean it's $9.99 a month for gaming? I thought you just needed the carts, don't tell me they charge on top of that too?!

Oh yeah. Pay to play, brother. Silly if you ask me, since they're already gouging on the system. If they must charge, make it part of a package. x_x

A side note: From the look of the above posts, Achika is rather helpful. :D

To play wireless against other players, yes you need to pay to play. Otherwise, you can play the game "chips" solo without fees.

I'm the one in 499 that liked the system after I bought. :D

Kinda surprised they're charging for multi-player, isn't it just bluechip? It goes directly from one n-gage to another right? Doesn't use airtime, or anything of nokia's bandwidth to do does it? Honestly, I haven't had anything against the n-gage (besides the obvious failure part, and price point) but charging for multiplayer through bluetooth technology is just downright GREEDY.

I just got an NGage... it hurts, hurts me so much. Really really bad. I can't get the mp3 functionality to work, I can only play the radio and Tomb Raider, which I hated on the PSX in it's heyday.

off to eBay it goes....

Why not screw the customers a bit more than having them pay the insulting price for a POS hardware IMO.

This is an outrage, CHARGING for multiplayer is one of the reasons they can't sell enough to pay the Janitor at Nokia's HQ. LOL
