Although it doesn't really say anything new, and the language itself is very "video game mag" (something I'm most definitely not a fan of), I thought it was well-written and informative. I'll spring an 8, which is generous from my harsh ass.

I'll also follow that up with a recommendation that the two reviews of Viewtiful Joe at InsertCredit.com be read.

I'll go "7".

It was a little tedious to read, with all the facts thrown in all over the place. I also didn't did agree with some of the generalities in the opening paragraph.

. . . with old-school games STILL being preferred over today’s games . . .

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That aside, it's a decent review, and it reflects a genuine enthusiasm for the game. I'll give it an 8.

What's flava? We've got some seriously flowerly language going here...a bit too much for my taste. A bit over-done for my taste. It does cover the game well, but loses something in the over-exhuberance. 8/10

It has a very good info on the main character which is important. It also explains how the game plays and feels after you start to play it for a little bit.

I really liked this review. Lots of enthusiasm, plenty of examples, tons of information.

There were two sentences that struck me as...well...odd.

Words are hard to find in order to explain the richness that Viewtiful Joe brings to the GameCube.

and

Viewtiful Joe looks beautiful - nuff’ said.

Both of these preceed the two longest sections of the review. :) Not a criticism...just an observation.

If I have any nitpicks...I wish the Sound section would have been as descriptive as the rest of the review.

Very nice. :)

Loved the enthusiasm! Whenever you give a game a perfect score in any category, you're making a bold statement. You have to convince me that the game really made that strong an impression on you, and I think this reviewer managed to do that. I agree the language had a "video game mag" feel, which normally I hate, but I get the impression that such an attitude fits in well with Viewtiful Joe's style. The only problem is that all the hipster talk makes some sentences seem stilted and hard to read.

I do think this review relied a bit too heavily on the reader's familiarity with other GameCube titles (SSBM and WW), but since those are flagship GCN games it's not as much of a problem as it could have been. If this article was being written for a GameCube-specific publication (and was edited) it might deserve a higher score.

The review has a good amount of info about the game itself, and the reviewer covers everything well. I can do without the opening paragraph though.

The review reads well enough, and it covers the aspects of the game. Nice screen grabs too.

7.5/10

Way too casual on the language. There's a lot of points in here that make this feel like this was written for "Wayne's World." Example: "VJ mixes in some new with old-school to produce a not so suck ridden product." What kind of statement is THAT???

Content is pretty good. It's kind of disorganized but I didn't know what the game was about before and now I do. Still I leave this not exactly knowing why this gets a 10 for gameplay from the reviewer.

Score: 7

I'll give this one a modest 7/10.

I'm just one of five judges here, but it's SO important to me that a review has some "energy" to it. It should read fast, flow well, and pass along information without me even realizing it. When I'm done I want to feel informed and at the same time entertained. This review accomplishes both of these things to some degree. The writing style seems to fit the descrption of the game, unorthodox. Quirky. But having a good time.

Some points are lost for the cliches and a few statements that are a little too "hip" for my tastes. While this may be part of the review's overall style, it puts me off a little. Also, there are references to other games all over the place that if I hadn't played (or read about them) beforehand I'd be particularly lost. Was XIII a failure? What is this about Capcom's next game? I'm confused a little.

Nice effort overall.
