I thought the original GBC title was one of the best platformers to be found on the system, and this one looks no less promising (and much more colorful, even!)

This one will certainly be worth checking out.

And Mr. Bozon ranked Trouble Shooter among his favorite obscure games. A man of fine taste, to be sure.

Most of those screenshots have been up at the official Shantae Website (http://home.earthlink.net/~bozon/GG_Index.htm) for months, but it's nice to see Shantae Advance getting some press over at Gamespot. Still, I wish the game had a confirmed publisher. I guess Capcom's too busy reprogramming the Goof Troop SNES game for the Game Boy Advance to bother with an original title.

Not to turn into Raccoon Lad here, but there's a minor oversight in both the Gamespot and Fatman articles; Shantae's a half-genie, not a full-fledged one. That may explain why she looks kind of like the illegitimate daughter of the Genie and Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin.

In response to Kid Fenris's numerous endorsements I picked up Shantae (GBC) at the GAME @_@ CRAZY 3 for $15 sale. I like it! And I don't like most platformers (not enough explosions), so this must be an especially good one.

So I googled Shantae Advance. Looks like it's still in some sort of no-publisher limbo. Does anybody know anything more?

My guess is we're going to see a repeat of Shantae GBC's belated situation with regards to the GBA title. Well into the lifespan of the next platform (Be that DS or the new Gameboy iteration Nintendo keeps hinting at) Capcom will scoop up the publication rights.

Hardly earth shattering analysis there I know, but at this point it's almost a given that Shantae Advance is finished because Matt Bozon works really damn fast.

Funny thing. I did not realize that this was an old post--and my quote above is once again the first thing that popped in my head. I opened the thread expecting a response from good ol KF.
