Simple question to start with, why only Non-Australians?

but here are mine:

BEST = my first NES turned glitchy towards the end of it's lifespan. I still had mine until 1996. Well, after playing Final Fantasy III on the SNES I wanted to check out the original on the NES. I fell in love with the game, but my first time through I had an interesting glitch. During a battle my NES glitched out and started through a reset cycle. Well, when I went through again I had lost my progress and was forced back to my last save. Oddly my White mage lost his weapon. I was initially angry but then on a fluke I checked his stats. Suddenly his attack damage had jumped from a stat of '5' to '550' when unarmed. For the rest of the game I kept him unarmed, even though his hit% was absurdly low, whenever he did hit it almost always killed the monster. Good times.

WORST = The first time I ever saved up enough money to buy my own NES game, I chose.... wait for it... Wall Street Kid. I don't think I need to say anything else.

BEST = My first long-term exposure to the NES was in 1989. Up to this point I had virtually no exposure to any other system save my Atari 2600. Anyway, I was in the Marine Corps back then, and one weekend my comrades and I were stuck on weekend duty on the base. One of them had the idea to rent an NES and the game "Crystalis" along with it. Everybody on duty that weekend became obsessed with beating this game. That NES remained on for nearly 56 hours, and between the eight of us on duty that weekend we managed to finish the whole game between sleeping, eating and working in the respective shifts. Bear in mind this was before the days of FAQs and walkthroughs, and we didn't have access to the telephone tipline either. It was quite the collaborative effort, and at the end we were all very proud to pose for a group picture in front of the Crystalis end screen.

WORST = I acquired my first actual NES in 1996 from a thrift store. It was the NES Jr., complete, for the incredible price of US $5. I appreciated its small size as I lived in an apartment at the time. However, it gave a lousy picture out of the RF signal. I knew that the toaster models had a composite video option. So, oblivious to the collectiblility of the Jr. model I took it in to a game store. The game store's proprietor happily (almost too happily) traded me straight across for a toaster. It worked fine, but I had no idea until years later I had given away a fairly hot collectible. D'oh!

BEST=This one is quite simple, but important: The NES re-ignited my love for games after wave after wave of crappy Atari games. One of my best childhood friends had a unit and we used to stay up til the wee hours of the night playing SMB and Kung Fu. I immediately knew that I had just seen the next big thing in gaming and I was hooked.

WORST=Like a bad episode of Leave It to Beaver, a friend and I go half and half on by Pro Wrestling. despite warnings from both parents that it wouldnt work. The night of purchase I decided to be the good guy and let him take it home. Two days later I requested the game, and of course, he "couldnt come outside." When I asked to come over, he "couldnt have company." So it took about a week for me to finally get the game in my hands and when I did, he called me about 4 times that night saying that he wanted it back. I was fed up with the BS and when he finally got his allowance I had him buy me out, and he kept the game.
