Completely inspired by Rogmeisters "Goals for 2004" thread. I thought we would look back on the year and you can post favorite acquisition. Even if you paid too much.

Can I say DP Guides vol. 4 - 7 and the Psychopedia? Granted, they're not games, and I don't actually have them in my hands yet (I won them in Sniderman's contest :-D), but I really think that may have been my best acquisition all year.

If not that, I gues Lunar:SSS Complete (PSX) with all the extras, or maybe Valkyrie Profile.

Following a trend, DP Guide 7 was probably the best decision I've made all year. It caused me to get serious about what I wanted to collect and why. It made me buy a Master System, because I knew I'd kick myself for it if I missed out on all the great games I've gotten for it so far.

My Zelda Collector's Edition disc is also at the top of the list, though. 8-)

Completing my pal 32X collection was definately a highlight in the past year.
I already sold some games from it though. I'm ready for the next challenge 8-)

Two things:
1. Went to CGE
2. Got Chrono Trigger and FFVI for the SNES. Now I must get the PS1 versions. Great games.

Well, Having only just bought the DP Guide Tonight, and Expecting 2-3 Week Delivery, I cannot say that would be the best addition for 2003 if it arrives in 20004 LOL Anyway, I have made ALL my Consoles except for my Atari 7800 AV, which is fantastic (Pics coming Soon!) My SMS Collection has gone up about 25-30 this year up to about 120, and it's growing. My Boxed SC-3000 would HAVE to be the best addition to my collection of the year, I was looking for one for years.

Of course, getting each edition of the DP Collector's Guide is always a wide decision. Did I get it this year or did it come out last year? Seems I've had my latest one awhile so I'm not sure. My subscription to DP has expired so I need to renew it today...another wise decision. I can't really think of any game purchases that were I'd say were the best additions to my collections but I did buy a new system...finally breaking down and getting a PS2 and subsequently getting (so far) about 21 games for it so lot's of fun to be had there. I haven't gone online with it yet and haven't decided if i will or not. If I do, that could be added to next year's best additions.

I haven't really kept track of what I've bought this year so perhaps I'll start doing that again so I can more accurately answer this question a year from now. :D

1:Modding my Xbox. It inspired me to buy a LOT more MegaCD and Turbo Duo games, as I had those systems in the closet for a while.

2: I picked up a load of flyers this year, that are always very hard to find. I'm pretty proud of those.

Hmm....probably the complete, perfect condition Saturn (boxed, manuals, all packaging) as if the previous owner played it once. And it only cost $26 AUD.

Best pickups of the year:

1) My entire Neo collection so far. Finally got serious to make a run at the Neo Geo and my trend of the year of just having insane deals fall in my lap kept going strong. First with the boxed pocket and all the great stuff obtained in trade through Maxlords (THANK YOU!), and n-g.com for helping me get the MVS setup started!

2) The turbo-grafx. Bought at work for $10 when someone found out they couldn't trade it in. This machine is another one that makes me very very happy. Not -so- many games for it, but I'm working on it. It'll grow more when I get a Japanese Duo.

3) The colecovision. I never really had one, so when I got one I've been having a blast with it. I really really like this system.

4) 16-bit imports. I'm probably going to stay away from genesis imports for now, but my Super Famicom collection has a nice start, especially the moderatly pricey Ranma Janken Battle mint complete I got :)

Since I decided to start collecting again this past May, I've seen my collection start with two systems (XBOX, DC), rise to a huge 21 systems, and dwindle down due to space restrictions to 10 again. Good year overall though!

The best addition to my game library has to be my VF 2 machine. It's my first arcade game and probably last for a little while. It's so big I have to get rid of it. I hate selling stuff I love but I gotta be able to move around in my apartment! Long live me!

It's hard to say, and I surely can't name just a single best addition. I'll just name some milestones and good deals.

1) Having my NEO AES modified with S-Video/ Stereo out/ Debug bios. I would say this has increased gameplay 400%

2) My May Atari 2600 score. Included about 80 complete near mint condition 2600 games, boxed Sears paddles, boxed Atari paddles.

3)Purchased a 50 game lot of complete Jaguar games on ebay, sold all the duplicates, and the spare system/jagcd and broke even on the deal. Thus netting me 27 complete Jaguar games for nothing.

4) Chase the Chuckwagon found loose for .90 cents. I know you hate me.

5) Doubled the size of my NEO AES cart collection (from 5 to 11 titles). Best machine ever.

that is all.

This year really defined my game collection. My game collection probably increased over 1000 games. It is hard for me to say in what order so here are the top ten for me.

1. Acquiring my first Proto-Solar Conquerer for the Bally Astrocade
2. Getting down to 20 Nes Carts in my drive for the US NES set
3. Getting Caltron 6 in 1 complete
4. Finishing my 32X set..boxed and complete.(Dont underestimate it!)
5. Acquiring an intellivision, colecovision, Vic-20, Atari XEGS, and my favorite...a white Bally Astrocade with 29 games
6. Getting serious about collecting, and making a room of doom
7. Holding video game toureys at my house for fun
8. Getting my room in a mag(hopefully out this next week)
9. Finally writing a game review...even though it really sucked!
10. Chasing my dreams...that one is a secret!

I typically like to do long-winded "year in review" type posts, but I'll try to summarize the best additions to the family this year:

Arcadia 2001 Multicart back in January
Sonic Adventure Limited Edition for the Dreamcast back in Feb
Sega CDX from yesterday ;)

But the most significant entry this year is by far my homemade MVS setup:

http://www.gis.net/~bertulli/mvs.htm

This thing gets more play than just about anything else lately. In just the past four months, I've acquired 17 MVS carts for it, and all of them are good (in my book, at least!) It's definitely addition of the year in the Ninja house.

Tough question---if I had to pick one-
I would have to say the Gameboy Player for the Cube-
I finished all three Castlevania (advance) games, and it
made me replay alot of the older GB and GBC games.

The best addition to my collection this year would be the carcass of 22 year old migrant worker Consuela, I recently found her hiding out in the shed from what she called "Chucabra"...I took her in, gave her a home, and proceeded to poison her to make one of the finest looking preserved human carcasses in my collection thus far!

Oh, wait...I think we're talking about games here, sorry. I guess it would have to be the boxed and complete Famicom & Famicom Disk Systems. Yep, thats it, forget I said anything about Consuela. :D

Hey Evan, is that the game where you have to use the elastic grappling hook thingy to advance through the levels? If so, are you talking the SFC one or the PSX one?

- Selling my entire Genesis collection to help me fund all the expensive NES stuff.
- Getting a complete Stackup for a great price
- Getting a complete mint in the box US family fun fitness pad and other cool stuff from a local DP forum member

And hopefully shortly.. a really cool thing for my NES.. more info to come.

MMMmmmm.....medium rare.

Seriously though, this may be unimpressive to you guys, but I nearly doubled my NES collection with some games I purchased from leonk this year (I think like, 15 or so) so that was a big deal to me.

Hmm hard to say, gaming collection wise I'd have to say my PAL Panzer Dragoon Saga - completing my Saturn collection, and pretty much completing my N64 collection with notable games like Pokemon Stadium 1 (Japanese) and both Custom Robo titles - 3 games I've always wanted and have been searching for complete versions for awhile now.

New games, all the GameCube games I've acquired this year - my collection is growing almost every day lol, and I'm loving it.

But the big one for me other than PDS and the N64 games has to be my 2 arcade cabs, a Neo Geo MVS one and a Street Fighter 2 Turbo (my fav, the one and true fav arcade game ever for me personally) - lots of MVS games, a Mortal Kombat 2 board and a CPS2 X-Men COTA board! :D

And that's just the things I can remember hehe, all in all it's been a wicked year gaming wise.

Getting Umihara Kawase.

Hey Evan, is that the game where you have to use the elastic grappling hook thingy to advance through the levels? If so, are you talking the SFC one or the PSX one?

I just recently discovered these games thanks to The Underdogs. I'm loving the SFC one so far.

It is the SFC version.

I can't think of any major stand out items, perhaps my Neo Geo Pocket Color, and about 11 games I have right now...

it actually was a rather quiet year for me collecting wise...much slower than the explosions I had in 2001-2...no really rare games...just filling in some of the commons really...

I feel that nextg year is going to be my year for a Neo-Geo and Vectrex...the last 2 systems I really want to own :D
