I know this book was reprinted under the title: The Ultimate History of Video Games: From Pong to Pokemon--The Story Behind the Craze That Touched Our Lives and Changed the World, but I want to know if the first edition of "The First Quarter", is really that rare?

I ask because I was shocked today as I searched Amazon to see a number of vendors selling used "collectible" versions of The First Quarter for between $39.85 and $95. At first I thought it might be fluke, but there are at least 8 copies being offered in that range.

I bought one when it came out and its been sitting on the shelf for a while, although if they sell for that mine's going on sale tonight!

I dunno about rare, but the first title was much better than the new one.

Sellers on Amazon are teh stupid. Trust me.

Lets just say that there's one born every minute.

But I guess its safe to say that somethings value is whatever someone is willing to pay for it so yeah, I guess it is worth that much.

I disagree. Ultimate History of Video Games ROCKS, and is the BEST video game history book I've read. It's even slightly better then Phoneix, although both are great books.

As for the first edition being rare? I doubt it. :) That's why I can get away with selling things like the hint book for Star Ocean II over there for $55. LOL

I saw that people were selling the first two editions of Phoenix on Amazon for over $120 each. I decided to circumvent them and now offer the 1st edition of Phoenix for $5 on Amazon. Unfortunately I am completely out of the 2nd edition or I would have done the same with that one.

Yes, but are they really SELLING at that price? Do you know if anyone has paid that much for one?

I also seem to remember seeing the first hardcover edition of Van Burnam's excellent Supercade for $100+ on Amazon.

I sure hope not.
