Alot of people might say a Neo Geo or Nintendo Play 10 units obviously but disallowing those two what single game arcade unit would you want?

JeffD

that's easy......Discs of Tron. Second choice would be a cockpit version of Star Wars.

I love ths question :)

Aliens VS Predator

2nd both of those. If it was a "regular" cab, I'd say Pacman or Asteroids.

My MAME machine! What else!?? :D

Otherwise, a real sit down dedicated driver.. Like Daytona USA.

I'd like a four player TMNT 1 or 2.

Baby Pacman. I don't care if it sucks, it looks cool as hell to me. My choice actually was Playchoice-10, but you said no :(

My first choice would be NBA Jam, for sentimental reasons. One of the greatest summers I ever had as a kid was spent playing the arcade version for free after my friend figured out how to open up the cabinet. My second choice would be Daytona USA because of another great summer, but I have a Dreamcast with NBA Showtime and Daytona USA, so I really don't need either.

ROBOTRON!!!!!!

Just to have it standing in the corner of my games room making the noises it does would be bliss.....And it would stand there taunting me and growling at me before humiliating me once again....and so it would continue, day in day out, until one day I would sneak up on it and catch it unawares and KICK ITS ASS!!!

Otherwise Defender.....harder to control, more difficult game, more satisfaction when I finally nail the sucker and crack 1 mill!!!

12-17-2003, 06:39 PM
My first choice is Splatterhouse, since apparently I'm never going to get an arcade-perfect translation for a console. I wouldn't mind having Rastan, Haunted Castle, Shinobi or Shadow Dancer machines either.

Ivan Ironman's Super Off Road. 4 Players on one arcade = awsome!

Rampage is a close second for sentimental reasons.

no Big Red 4-slot? phooey...

Well, as much as I love fighters, I don't think I'd play a SF2 cab enough to make it matter. That said....

Probably first choice would be Simpsons 4-player, followed by Crazy Taxi. CT in the arcades is just way too fun.

I can only choose one? If so, then a fully-working, restored, dedicated Rock-Ola Fantasy (http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/fantasy.html) cabinet.

Runners-up: Tron, environmental Discs Of Tron, cockpit Star Wars, cocktail Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man, Robotron, Sinistar, Dig Dug, cocktail Atari Football (actually, I think that's a redundancy - there wasn't an upright Atari Football was there?).

I'd also settle for the Odyssey2 kiosk that sat sad and empty at CGE '03. :D

It'd be a three-way tie amongst Amidar, Pepper II, and Crystal Castles. Can't decide which! After that I'd go with Star Rider, Journey, Arkanoid, or Space Encounters.

I'd love to see a working Fantasy myself; I love playing it on MAME but the sound is incorrect, so I'd love to hear what it really sounds like!

But I must say that I'm extremely happy with my Atari 5200 Kiosk, even though it's in storage in my old art professor's studio basement. I long for the day when I can move it into my own house.

720 first, with Star Wars a close second and a big ass four player Gauntlet third.

Definitely Robotron. That machine is such a beast, but so addicting. Joust would be second.

I would want one of those sit down arcade games with the glass tops--you know where someone can sit on either side of it--I would get Joust or Donkey Kong.

6-slot neo geo cab, with Samurai Shodown V, Fatal Fury Special, Magical Drop 3, Blazing Star, Andro Dunos, and League Bowling.

If you only want a normal machine, I'd probably have to say Space Wars. I LOVE Space Wars.

I love teh Discs of Tron machine. How teh arcade looks and its a pretty fun game. I think that would be my choice. I would lik e an X and O's football to though.

I've always wanted a Kaos machine. It's a nostalgia thing. It's kind of an uncommon game though. There was one on eBay recently but I can't afford one now, plus I'd have nowhere to put it.

If I couldn't find a Kaos, Robotron would be my next choice (excluding a MAME cabinet).

Since I already have the one arcade cab that i really wanted (MVS 4 Slot), I would have to say that I would really love to get the 4 player Gauntlet Legends game. When the arcade by my house had that, me and my buddies would always play it when we went to the mall. I don't think I have played a game there since they got rid of it.

Defender
Cockpit Star Wars
Marble Madness
Gravitar
Sit-down Spy Hunter
Discs Of Tron

... in that order.

Those are all unbelievably cool games.

So many to choose from. I would pick.....

Joust

Joust would beat out Star Wars, Simpsons, Bubble Bobble, and Power Drift.

I've seen them as dedicated cabinets, so I'd say either a Samurai Showdown V or a Metal Slug (all but the first, the later three were incresingly better).

Either them or whatever happens to be the newest DDR machine at any given time.

Well since I already have the game I wanted (Ms. Pac-Man) I would take a Bobble Bubble.

Gimme one that needs its unique controls for esthetic purposes, like Robotron, Tempest, SW:TAG, Millipede, Tron or Discs. Or maybe a good Multiplayer like Mario Bros. There's just too many possibilities.

One of Sega's mechanical masterpieces -- either Out Run or After Burner, in full moving-cabinet full-stereo glory.

After that, I'd want either Pac-Man or Galaga (probably both, actually) and...Peter Packrat by Atari. (Which you've probably never heard of, and I don't care. ;) )

And a PlayChoice 10, of course. :)

An Alien vs. Predator coin-op is the only arcade machine that I've ever seriously considered buying, but if I could choose anything, I might instead take a Pengo cabinet. It holds a certain historical appeal for me.

VACRMH and Kid Fenris must share a fondness for social beat 'em up gatherings. That's why I want the TMNT anyway.

I thought a little more about this one and considered the possibility of owning a T2: Judgement Day, the one with the guns. It wasn't that original but boy was it fun, especially if you took over both players. :D I also wouldn't mind a Cadillacs And Dinosaurs machine.

There seems to be a high appreciation for the classics, the one-screenies, spiderman and blue-eyed meanies. I couldn't justify owning one of those, because while they're fun, I'd get bored with it very quickly compared to something set aside as a weekly, monthly event, a get together. The cabs meant to be played with lots of people at once. 'Course, Gauntlet would be PERFECT for that.

1. Discs of Tron - It was the first ever arcade game that I was able to inpress people with my playing ability. I was 8 at the time I believe :)

2. Tempest - Probably my favorite arcade game ever.

3. Journey - Yes, the band, I love that game...love the 2600 game as well...plus the arcade game has some kind of tape thing built in that plays a song during one scene :)

4. Bubbles - My initials were burned into the one at Village Bowl in Muncie for about 3 years :)

5. DDR Extreme - My personal favorite mix of songs...

It would have to be a Playchoice-10 for me. But if that doesn't count because it contains 10 games, then I'd take a Bubble Bobble or a Ms. Pac-man.

I'd go for a Robotron, a Spy Hunter (cockpit), a Front Line, and a 4-player Warlords.

2. Mortal Kombat 2- I love the pumping bass in that cab
3. Star Castle
4. Pac Man
5. Donkey Kong
6. Killer Instinct
7. Joust
8. Galaxian
And last but not least..... Space Invaders...oh I love that game :D

I'm actaully lucky enough to own the 2 games I most wanted:

1. Environmental Discs of Tron :rocker:
2. Crazy Climber (though a cocktail) :P

Though the one that gets the most play when folks come over is the 3 player Rampart.

Cheers all.

Heh, I'll jump on the bandwagon and say Discs of Tron too. and give second place to Crystal Castles. I'd love a Addam's Family pinball machine too :)

either house of the dead 1 or 2... or one of those japanese F-Zero AX machines were you can insert your gamecube memory card into a slot so you can use your F-zero GX memory to play...i think for parts or something but who cares...its an uber cool concept... any racing game would be awesome for me though...i love driving... at on old arcade we used to have in a mall near my school, they had a cruisin usa game that had an actual car that you got to sit in and it had hydrolics that would tilt the car on turns and it would rumble if you got hit or hit something... any of those would be nice. i am actually saving up for an coin-op right now so i can make my friend pay to play it ........ LOL (evil laugh)

Heh, Neo Geo MCS was first on my list, but I have one on the way :)

As for dedicated cabs, I'd have to say that I'd want the following most of all:

Roadblasters (sit down, non-kit)
Space Gun
Environmental Discs of Tron (I can't believe someone here owns one...there are what, maybe 100 left in existence?)
I had a Joust dedicated cab once too...wouldn't mind having another....

@ boatofcar...I may have a buddy getting a MINT STUNRunner in :) I think he's gonna sell it. Isn't that game fairly rare?

@ Bratwurst: There's ANOTHER Cadillacs and Dinosaurs fan out there? I'm DYING to get that game on CPS1...would slay to have a cab! I'm a huge fan of the comic (Xenozoic Tales) as well as the cartoon series! w00t! :)

My first pick would be Tempest. I managed to get ahold of a beat-up arcade Tempest a few years back for $80, and have almost got it working. The cabinet is in decent shape, the controllers work good, the sound is great, but the picture is scrunched and bugs out. I can play it, but it needs more work.

Other arcade games I would want, in order:

Crazy Climber
Cheeky Mouse
Joust
Wizard of Wor
Astro Fighter

My "Summer of Tron" is a fond memory, indeed. I liked Discs of Tron but 4, count'em 4, seperate and distinct games kept my tokens pumping deep into its belly(Rod Stewart would be jealous) for the entire summer! So, yeah, I guess I'll give my lukewarm, half-hearted nod to, um, oh yeah...TRON!

JB Lars
01-19-2004, 09:55 PM
If I could only choose ONE? Choplifter, cockpit cabinet.

Beyond that, the list grows to the usual suspects: Tron, DoT, Tempest, Robotron, Ms Pac-Man, Galaga... Oh, and a cockpit Sub-Roc 3D.

My arcade machine would be one of those Sitdown coffee table arcade machines.

Super Pacman baby. Super Pacman.

Games that hold a place in my childhood and heart.

My first choice would be Bubble Bobble. (I can make do with my PSX version as it's arcade perfect.) It just holds dear to me.

Second choice is The Simpsons. I can't believe this has not been emulated yet. Or even brought back. Why not the GBA? In fact, I'd like to see an updated version on the Cube or Box where you run aroung Springfield TMNT style and fight TMNT style. Instead of Hit and Run and Road Rage. Hear that, Radical? There's your next project. Now get on it.

After those, Pinball would have to be Fun House with the talking dummy head. I LOVED that game. If only to watch other people play through it. I'd love to try my skills at it now.

01-20-2004, 05:47 AM
If I had to choose one it would be the four player arcade unit of Trog. I loved playing that game and with three other people playing with you it was even more fun.

WHAT A GREAT QUESTION!
I own all three versions of the playchoice (Double, Single Monitor, and Countertop). That is the answer to your question. But since I already have them and they dont count I would pick:
In order:
Crusi'n Exotica
Off-Road Challenge
Hydro Thunder
Crazy Taxi

All sit-downs, Midway makes the best arcade, at least I think. Sega is good at them too!
I would love to have brand new one's, but them being $3000-5000 brand new is kind of a problem.

SegaAges
01-22-2004, 01:45 PM
If I could have any arcade machine, it would have to be Sega's Top Skater. They made a sequel arcade game to it, but it is nowhere as cool as the original. Now only if the Saturn had been around longer, they were supposed to make Top Skater for Saturn. They already made Steep Slope Sliders, which I had no idea was an arcade port until I saw a stv board on ebay. Oh yeah, I would want a dedicated sega stv cab with some carts just so that I could have Steep Slope Sliders.

Sand_monkey
01-22-2004, 04:44 PM
Oh for me it would have to be an old "Sinistar" machine :)
I used to love playing the old one my uncle used to have... I got hooked on that game as a kid, every time I used to go round to my uncles house I always headed strait for the sinistar machine :)

Ivan Ironman's Super Off Road. 4 Players on one arcade = awsome!

Rampage is a close second for sentimental reasons.

Actually the game only supported up to three drivers, the fourth truc k (the grey one) was CPU driven by the Ironman.

Even though that's like my favorite game ever, I'd rather have a Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga 20th Anniversary Reunion cabinet.

Or, if multi's aren't allowed, just Ms. Pacman. (of course barring the fact I already have it on both PSOne and GBA LOL)

The reason I didn't opt for Super Off-Road is cause it just wouldn't be as fun without three people at once... (trust me it wouldn't be that often I'd ahve that many people on it, and a MS.P or MS.P/Galaga would take up less room :P)

The answer is a no brainer for me: Galaga! Galaga! Galaga! Galaga!!!!

Now if I had a MAME box with Galaga on it, that would be cool. However, if I had to choose between Galaga and the MAME box I would pick: Galaga!!!!

HI everybody - I'm new here!

My pick would be the sit-down Atari Red Baron.
It was the first arcade game that I was addicted to!
