PS2: Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven

Ok, so I just bought this game at TRU. It (obviously) wasn't used, but it was a shelf copy... and thus marked down to hell and back. $10, can't go wrong! It doesn't work :( I also got Shinobi for $10 and it works fine, but Tenchu is weird.

It loads the game, checks for the memory card, either finds it or doesnt (depending on there being a memory card or not), then the screen goes black and does nothing. Could this be a problem with my PS2, or would this be the game? The reason I ask is I've never had any problems, and if I have it's because the game is scratched to hell, but this game looks just fine, flawless. Anyone else have any problems with this game?

didn't have any problems with it though, i have the pal version

My guess, sirrah is that the game was returned and relegated to the shelf, it was probably returned for the fact that it's f'd up.

Go throw it at someone's head like a shuriken and extract your 10$ of amusement from the bleeding and screaming of your fellow man.

Nah, it definitely wasn't a return, it still had the seal intact, just no shrinkwrap. I understand it's possible to keep the seals intact and get the disc out but no one does it. I really want to make it work, because I've got a hell of a drive out to TRU to get something else :(

Oh well, sucks to be me. First game I've ever bought that hasn't work, and it really wasn't even used!
